DVD problem

Hi everyone, I post for the first time here ^^

I have some DVD's my host father recorded for me when I was in Japan and I can't read them on my computer T_T
He recorded some TV shows like music station, odoroki no arashi and Hana yori dango special shows. I'd like to upload those videos but I don't know how to read the DVD's and how to encode them. If someone could tell me what to do It would be very nice ^^
