Price department arrested Hiromasa Miyazaki (51) from Kita-Kyusyu city as he uploaded movie included Arashi at YouTube concert without permission. arrest by uploading movie to YouTube is first time in Japan. He uploaded Arashi’s DVD 2 pieces and Fuji TV comedy show without permission and show these to unspecified number and infringes a copyright. Miyazaki post the movie at his web site, he said “I did it for ad revenue” he admits to the charges

Yesterday Tetsuko’s room guest was Hichinosuke Nakamura-san (Jun-kun’s class mate. he talked a lot about Jun-kun. H: he was hard worker. that stoic, still now. he is very stoic person. I still respect him, currently he became really amazing. Tetsuko: amazing, isn’t it? they are called national group. H:I didn’t imagine this’d be like this. H: at Arashi debut I was told to watch song show. then watched him singing in see though costume. I was so surprised that costume. I was invited 10th anniversary concert. as I wanted see him close not at related people seat. then, A.ra.sh. 5 appeared from stage were in that debut’s see though costume. the person who I’ve wished to work hard as Arashi, in such crowd, in such costume. when he shows up. I cried laughing. they did this as gag. but I always knew him, his private life, his hidden effort. “oh, he made succeed.” rather say. I thought he became amazing person and I was  deeply moved. T: he is so passionate guy but he make effort. H: that is the best. after all effort make you real person… having this kind of friend close to me stimulate a lot for me too.
Higashi Rokugo primary school in victim area blog it seems Jun-kun visited on 9. as hand writing seems Jun-kun. <Surprise! be strong!> this was happened after 4th period started. the class of late elementary grades. There’s announcement “knock, knock, there’s guest for you” then. students of late elementary grades… “no way!” “oh!” raise a round of roar. One of a idol group visited school. “you all have been struggled. Hope you smile… come to see you all.” talked kindly. and got present to each single students. as it was so bit surprise, most children who cant vocalize or who got freeze under tension. but it was supreme memorial time. we took memorial picture each grade. we are expecting to deliver memorial picture to our kids. then in the end said goodbye shaking hand. photo from gift of this idol. this one of member of idol group signature. as photo shooting of him and signature was not proved. so I hide his name. He visited also junior high school too. news letter of Sendai Rokugo junior high school. To all of Rokugo junior high school. I cheer all of you from my heart who make positive powerful step for restoration get rid of unprecedented earthquake disaster. Violation of the Copyright Act: Salaryman arrested for illegal distribution of Arashi videos

It's not really the sort of news people will want to hear so soon after reading about Jun's surprise visit to kids affected by the earthquake, but since this is pretty relevant to fandom I thought people would benefit from a full translation as well.


Violation of the Japanese Copyright Act: Salaryman arrested for illegal distribution of "Arashi" videos by the Saitama prefecture police

On the 11th of May, police from the Saitama prefecture arrested suspect Miyazaki Masahiro (51), a salaryman from Kusubashi Nishi 2 in the Yahatanishi district of Kitakyushuu city, for the violation of the Japanese Copyright Act (infringement of Public Transmission Rights). He was charged with publicly sharing footage of concerts by the popular idol group Arashi to Youtube, a video sharing site, without obtaining consent from the copyright holder. According to the police, building a criminal case for sharing videos on Youtube is a first ever in the nation.

The suspect was in violation of the Japanese Copyright Act during the period of November 22nd of last year to February 5th by publicly sharing Arashi's concert footage from two different products including the DVD "ARASHI AROUND ASIA+ in DOME" as well as commercial broadcasts of variety shows on Youtube. According to the police, he has testified that he "wanted to earn some spending money" from it. The suspect Miyazaki had been directing viewers onto his own homepage in hopes of generating ad revenue. A copyright organization provided information and alerted the police to the matter. [T/N: In another article, it was further stated that his site had received tens of thousands of hits.]

While there was another Youtube case last June where Kyoto prefectural police charged a suspect in violation of the same Copyright Act, it was in regards to the appearance of manga ahead of release dates and did not involve the sharing of videos.
