Orista article <cover photo is “adult joke!?” Sho Sakruai talks about long-waited Arashi new album> long waited album Popcorn was released. Labyrinth love song of Sakurai-san starring Problem-solving is after dinner as drama theme song and many other popular tunes are included. S: Labyrinth love song released last year, this could be oldest. Q: as usually Arashi album releases in summer, as this summer you had Ara-fes. there must be many disappointed people who thought no concert tour or album release this year. in this circumstance Ara-fest was announced. roar must be tremendous. S: this is never-release-fraud (grin) but we didn’t have thought that we never release an album. Q: it was timing. S: this is so, we insisted to announce it at site of Ara-fes and in front of audiences. we thought, we have to announce this timing, fans must get worry. (we wanted to enjoy) the sense of surprise when we announced it. we have never announced something new at out concert site. we wanted them to be pleased. Q: did you thought it was worth to announce it in front of audiences, looking at audiences reaction? S: I listened the announcement changing costume in the back of stage, reaction was big. I didn’t know this was reaction about album or tour? Q: this could be both. S: I wonder. after all, reaction was big. it was good. if this came silent… (grin) Q: it was quite new, title was Popcorn, lately original album was pretty mellow. S: it was rather say departure point or concept. personally, I want to release just cheerful and fun album. so we just hold theme “create a pop album”. actually because last year and previous year heavy-hitting albums were continued. Q: did you gathered and selected tunes with theme of pop? S: however I say pop with a word, this is vary by people. however this was our theme. we don’t know it very much. at first we discussed this. and about 20 tunes that director brought were a bit different from the Pop we thought. so pop that we thought it was easy to understand, actually this was vary by people, it was year 2012 to learnt it. Q: is there any difference among 5? S: not really, not much difference. but it’s not fun to be completely same. we researched pop going this way and that way. Q: but tile impression is certainly Pop. S: after deciding concept, we thought about title in parallel with selecting tune. really so various ideas came up. who proposed “Popcorn”? Matsujun? me? (he checks with staff) me? I remember the idea such as “Popping garden”…. after all, many ideas came up, someone said Popcorn, staff says it’s me. I think it was Matsujun. currently don’t know this was from who. Q: at cover of CD you show Popcorn photo. did you wanted to make pop visually as well? S: this was adult’s gag. Q: this is so cool including logo. S: at first we wanted to make a cover like a comic. how about wearing full-body suit!? actually many ideas came up. what was common to all was acting funny a bit. this settled to Popcorn man. Q: Popcorn man. we didn’t have this kind of image for while.S: no, we haven’t done it at cover of album. we have done seriously so far. (grin) Q: as image of Arashi, this was betray in good sense. S: after all, actually we can’t do this unless now. if this was around we just made debut. actually we made big one almost naked around debut. we hardly go beyond it. after all this was because we can this now. this rather say adult gag, how to say, “let’s do it for an amusement” I don’t know this was right. well let’s do it amusingly.
