Arashi Dead Links Project
Aug. 12th, 2013 12:33 amHi folks!
I became an Arashi fan last 2007, left the fandom around 2010, came back to the fandom last 2012, and then had to go on hiatus the first month of 2013 due to my job. I'm now officially back, and I'm surprised at how many dead links there are everywhere. For someone like me whose hard drive of 5 years (along with all my Arashi files) crashed and burned, redownloading is impossible since there are no more links. I still have a bunch of files in my laptop, but that's about it. I can't help but find all of this saddening, and I can't even imagine what the new fans must feel like.
I'd like to propose a project - the fansubbers have given so much to us fans for so many years, and I was thinking that if all of us fans pull together, we can manage to find all subbed files that are now nowhere found to be and upload them for other fans.
What do you think? Would any of you like to help me out with this?
Please let me know!
EDIT: I forgot to mention this in detail but of course we would seek the fansubbers' approval. (I'm not exactly sure how to contact those who have left the fandom/are in hiatus but I am going to try.)
Also, initially I was thinking that the new links to the subbed file can simply be put in the comments sections of the entry the fansubber made for that particular subbed file. This way, we technically would not be breaking any rules because we are NOT REDISTRIBUTING the fansubbed files - we are just reuploading them and they would still be in the same community. What we could do is just inform Arashi fans that these files are available again and that they could go to the community to redownload them. From my stay in the fandom, most (if not all) fansubbers welcome mirror download links, so this shouldn't be a problem.
EDIT 2: Folks, sorry for the same response to all your comments. I agree with all of you that the 1st step should be to contact fansubbers, and I'm working on that now. I've already tweeted Becky (I have no idea if she will respond but hey why not give it a shot right), and right now I'm collating a list of fansubbers to contact. If you have more suggestions, please don't hesitate to let me know. Also, if you want to help I would really appreciate it!
EDIT 3: To those who want to help out - here's the community:
arashiproject
What we'll do is list all fansubbing communities and fansubbers, and then list possible contact persons. Step 2 will depend on whether or not we get some replies. Hopefully some of you guys would be willing to help out! :)
