Who In ARASHI Smokes ?

I hope this wouldn't sound rude on my part but I'm curious to know do the guys smoke ?

I know Ohno & MatsuJun did it respectively in Uta no Oii-san & Bambino ! but how about in real life ?

I'm pretty sure they all smoke. Aiba said he gave it up when he had his chest problem, but I think he picked it up again.

they're all do smoke..especially matsujun, someone said that he is a chain smoker..not to mention nino too..i have the pic when jun and nino sucked the cigarattes XD

i thought aiba wouldn't because of his lungs problems and the surgery he had in the past. if hes not allowed to play the sax, why is it okay for him to smoke?

sho looks like the good kind and clean. therefore, i don't think he smokes.

ohno seems like he does smoke. didn't he in 'uta no oniisan'? it's good if he did quit smoking. (worse, i heard he does weed; aka y hes so skinny)

nino is the mysterious one and i don't know if he smokes or not. i cant figure it out.

I'm not sure about that weed thing... I mean I might sound biased, but my cousin, he's thinner than Ohno, you can practically see his spine segment on his neck if he bend his neck forward, but he doesn't smoke weed or anything like that, rather he's super athletic (in the army right now even, though he still looking thin, when his sister comes to visit, he said he's having fun while other people said their sons are having a hard time)
So technically, not every thin person in the world smoke weed ^_^ and not every weed smokers are thin, cuz I have seen a couple ones who looks not so thin (then again, I live in America, like the fattest country in the world or something) ^_^

I asked this of a friend also. Apparently, (so I've heard) Ohno is a social smoker. He only smokes every now and then. I've never seen Sho smoke so I'm not sure how much he actually does. Matsujun, I know smokes as well as Nino. Aiba...I'm not quite sure about but based on what winterharmony said I think that he might also be a social smoker. I'm just going off of what I know. Not sure how much of it is true.

I'm pretty sure they all smoke, there was a video where the camera actually all caught them huddling around like high school kids smoking =P. Nino seems to smoke the most, then I think either Jun or Ohno (I've heard Ohno smokes a lot too o_o) would be next. Sho and Aiba seem to be the type that only smokes once and a while.

quite a newbie but i've heard rumours that all of them smoke cigars.. or at least used to do so.. but then again.. it's seems pretty common for Japanese people to smoke and drink sake a lot.. the men of course have a bigger proportion but it's not a rare thing to find women smoking & drinking in cafes / pubs..

agree with the "it's seems pretty common for Japanese people to smoke and drink sake a lot.." part. maybe it's part of their culture, or maybe they need to smoke to keep their body warm? besides, as sashipi mentioned below, "Japanese cigarettes aren't as harsh on the body as American cigarettes" so that explains why even the health-conscious Matsujun smokes as well.

i've seen pics of Nino smokes during the shooting of Stand Up!! and during a baseball game. i'm sure he smokes a lot especially when he is writing songs (guys tend to smoke to concentrate on something. at least my dad does).

I also find all of them smoke, especially Nino & Ohno...actually, I just wonder, while everyone mentioned that MatsuJun cares a lot of his health, and he himself said health is a very important thing in his life, he still smokes..

I'm not quite sure for now, but at least in the past, I do find they smoked, particularly the johnny's family does have a number of smokers..

In addition, you can just find the smoking scenes of five of them in 黄色い涙 (kiiroi namida).

Although most of us do not really want to believe these, they do have their reasons to smoke...

I'm not sure about Ohno or Aiba and Sho definately seems clean and not really one to want to smoke. I hope Aiba doesn't because smoking would ruin his cute voice as well as his previous health issues. MatsuJun probably does although it seems hard to tell. It's so common for people to smoke in Japan, although the numbers seem to be decreasing (amongst men unfortunately I feel like for woman it's increasing). Nino is definately a smoker. I'm not sure how much but yes his gums are quite black and while this was a long time ago, I once saw a video clip of him shooting 'Stand Up!' and he was sitting on the curb and smoking.

I know there're some papa pics of Jun smoking back when was filming hanadan - I wouldn't be surprised seeing that he was under so much stress doing dramas/butais/shows. But I've read somewhere that he's very considerate 'cause he wouldn't smoke on the days where he'd have a kiss scene with Mao-chan :)

I wanted to add, Nino and Aiba were pretty much screwing with Ohno while he was smoking in Arashi around Asia behind the scenes. :/ So I don't know if he still smokes...

I'm still pretty sure they all do though, it's not really odd that they do though. The majority of people their age smoke.

I am sad for their health and all, but I can't help but feel more concerned for the innocent second-hand smokers around them.

I always feel irritated when they drink or smoke though. but I'm sure sho quit smoking. I hope ohno did!!!

but 90% of japanese popolation smoke, because japanese cigarettes are so light that the heaviest is heavy as a extra-light Camel!
and, personally, i LIKE them smonking. they are sexy.
it may not be good for their health, but I can't say I don't adore them when they are smonking... like when they are totally drunk in backstages 8D

i'd be glad if they quit smoking for their own health.. but even if they are still smoking.. it's not gonna make me love them any less ^^

as for drinking sake.. as long as they don't become an alcoholic it's perfectly fine.. drinking together with friends after a long day of work is fun :P~

If he had been smoking for like.. 50 years I would buy that. I'm a smoker myself, as the rest of my family, my dad has been smoking for over 40 years, his gums.. are normal.
All people look different!
In one Mago Mago episode, when they filmed Jun's face really close, I could see small pits all over his face and THAT happens when you smoke. But I'v never head of black gums.
Sure it's not good for their health, but behind Arashi, they are just normal people. c(^.^c)

I think so too. What smoking does is that it accelerates the development of periodontosis (http://www.stop-smoking-tips.com/smoking-gum-diseases.html), which is affecting the bones and increases gum tenderness (redness, inflammation, easier to bleed on mechanical irritation etc.).
Apparently smoking might aid in causing dark patches (http://www.thetotalsmile.com/gums/dark-gums.cfm/), but so do hormonal changes and certain metals; generally and evenly dark gums are most likely individual attributes, just like some people have more rosy or darker coloured lips. ;)
