Hi everybody,

I want to start practicing subbing Arashi videos and I was wondering what programs are good to use.

It's really cool that you're going to start subbing! A fandom can never have too many subbers, I say (until they start fighting over projects??).

My suggestion for practice would be to NOT go with any of their variety shows, as they tend to talk over each other and/or very quickly. If you're just practicing, try interviews where they have to talk clearly and wait their turn. This way you can get a hang of things before taking on the monster that is 5 (well, usually 4 as Riida is a bit quiet) men talking over each other (it's harder than it looks).

Good luck, and I look forward to seeing your work in the future!

LOL, or did you mean subbing programs and not TV programs? xDDD;;; Wow, I am bigtime fail.

Aegisub or Sabbu tend to be the favorites for typesetting and timing.

.. I'm kind of a failure at encoding, but I'm pretty sure everyone is using VirtualDub for it. I'll let you take someone else's word on that :D

Sorry for the previous comment, but hey, maybe that will come in handy too, LOL (orz).

I use aegisub to time and you can do multiple lines. Then I export it to an Srt. file. Then use VirtualDub to hardsub. :D

since i'm quite poor in timings and ecodings..
i use. windows movie maker..

but,i only sub short clips.. so,there isn't any problem with it.

but,if you're trying to sub a movie/drama..
you better use a proper program for subbing such as aegisub.. ^__^

was wondering... how do u encode the ass file into hardsubs(?)? (i just suck at encoding. lol.)
i tried and a window pop appears saying that that VirtualDub requires video for window (VFW)codex to decompress video.
Currently using Aegisub too. ^^
