a few questions from a n00b
Feb. 14th, 2009 09:50 amHi, everyone. I'm an old fan of Arashi but relatively new to the fandom, so I wanted to see if any of my fandom senpai would be able to answer some of my questions:
1. When was the member color scheme (Ohno blue, Sho red, etc.) officially decided? As early as the How's it going concert, they were wearing their colors, but as recently as Shukudai-kun, the colors aren't quite aligned (MatsuJun and Aiba have their purple and green switched).
2. How long did Sho have his belly button pierced?
3. In the Iza, Now Tour!! DVD, there are a few places where the boys sing using microphones, but Nino's wearing a headset instead. Why is that? Is it because they only had four working microphones, or is there some larger power at work here? (ETA: I should mention that I haven't noticed this Nino-headset thing in the earlier or later concert DVDs.)

Thanks in advance for your help!

Date: 2009-02-14 02:56 pm (UTC)When Nino was a Junior he broke some of the bones in his left hand, and damaged it, and now even though he is left handed, he has no real strength in that hand. It was shown a little when they took part in the rowing segment of Mago Mago Arashi, that he has no grip strength, and couldn't hold an oar, which was why, partly, he ended up the cox.
I think that is why he is usuing a head set rather than a mic, purely because his hand wouldn't be able to do it. I don't actually know how exactly he damaged his hand though.
That is what I think anyway, I could be wong^^ These are really good questions, and I'll be intrested to see the answers to the other ones as well^^

"That was the case during the summer con, you can see that from the Iza Now! DVD, I was the only one with the headset since the beginning of the concert. That’s because I was unable to hold the microphone. I had some problems with the lymph area, there was an infection and I can not hold the mic for long. Even when I’m just changing during the concert it would hurt a lot too. Then I need to take these needles to help ease the pain, but taking the needles itself was very painful too. Really, that time was really tough ne.

Date: 2009-02-14 10:45 pm (UTC)Ahh that is really intresting, that it goes numb, thank you!
And you learn something new every day, so thanks for the information, and link about the infection he had. Poor Nino^^
Thanks, and I'm sorry I was way off there ^_^;;

Date: 2009-02-15 02:34 am (UTC)but u're right about his left hand. it's not that strong (hence the weak grip). it's just that in Iza Now tour he had to use headset coz of that infection. but in other concerts, u can see that sometimes he sings without holding his mic to his mouth. maybe it's because his hand gets numb, or simply because he's lazy to do so XDDDDD

3. Nino always switching hands when holding his microphone because of the reason that marvelgirlz & e_r_i said. But on that particular iza con dvd, i think its because he broke (?) his left thumb, rumour said because some fans got over excited and pulled it too hard. You can actually see that his thumb was in a bandage of somekind, plus in earlier concert days, he was still playing the guitar. so maybe it happened just before that recording for dvd day? You can also noticed in the beginning of the dvd that nino's [i think it was his right hand] had some kind of white cotton. kinda like the one you got after getting a shot/injection.
2. not really sure about this, but i've seen it since early days of arashi..
1. again.. not sure LOL but its always red for sho, yellow for nino, purple for mj, blue for riida, and green for aiba. its even 'stated' on the ONE con uchiwas. [Nino's background colour is yellow, shos is red etc]
but yeah.. these days, you can't really pin point that anymore, its still that 5 colours but they switch around. not sure why...

Date: 2009-02-14 04:52 pm (UTC)I only say that because they always have it ALMOST right. Like, 3 of them will be wearing the right colors, and then 2 of them will switch. XDD
*shakes fist* I'm always like, "WHY? WHY MUST YOU DO THAT??" at my TV when it's really not that big of a deal, but it bothers me XD

Date: 2009-02-14 04:59 pm (UTC)Its like, if you wanna switch colours, then why not all 5 of you do it together, not just 2-3 people.
I was always like.. ooh okay, mjun & aiba is wearing one's another colour.
Why is that?? The clothes don't fit?
ROFL
they like to make us think too much ^_____^

Date: 2009-02-19 01:30 am (UTC)But a few months ago, I decided on the fly to go look up more Arashi PVs, and thanks to Sakura Sake and Truth, I was hooked. It's been pretty downhill from there -- learning about all of the members, getting acquainted with all of their music, and realizing that Nino is way more loud and obnoxious than his boyish face lets on. (But I like him this way, too. XD) Now, I keep up with their current shows, and I'm working my way through their older shows. I've also recently blown a ton of money getting caught up with the concert DVDs (I'm hoping my last batch, which includes all of the out-of-print LE versions from All Or Nothing to AAA in Dome, will come in sometime next week).
So yeah, basically I've liked their music for years, but I've only actively liked them as people for the past few months. Catching up's been a doozy, but I'm happy that I joined the fandom when I did. I'm having a ton of fun, just in time for their tenth anniversary. :3
And that's my Arashi story! :D

Date: 2009-02-14 05:52 pm (UTC)As for the first question (since others have already answered #3), I don't think they ever really bothered trying to give them set colours until their ONE tour in 2005-- that is, being specifically linked to certain colours in official goods and so forth. Up until then, Aiba was given the colour yellow quite often too; I think Sho and Ohno have probably been the most consistent in having the same colours.
The TV shows are probably different because they've been using those colours (eg. pinkish purple for Aiba, green for Jun) since before they decided on representative colours, so they probably kept it going for the sake of consistency.
Hope that helps!

Date: 2009-02-14 08:21 pm (UTC)Like in 'G no Arashi', aiba was purple and Jun was green...
But i think they set in ARASHIC pamphlet the colors like we use now.

Date: 2009-02-14 09:32 pm (UTC)original colour: matsujun purple, aiba green.
but their variety TV shows are under diff channels (i forgot which is under which, maybe you can check that out?)
so the colour co-ordination is quite off.. (btw, aiba is PINK XD hahah they cant give anything more gay than that to aiba LOL)
