Question about Sho-kun's nickname

I want to know why Arashi members call Sho-kun "okaasan"? And since when? It seems like I've missed something here. Anyone who knows, please tell me.

Sho tends to be the motherly figure in the Arashi group. So because of his motherly characteristics, he's called "okaa-san" (which is funny because they tend to pick on him a lot, so they're picking on their mother) XD

As to when, I'm not entirely sure... I just got so used to it that I can't remember anymore...

I think this is only part of the deal, but Sho proudly says that he knows what's going on most in Arashi. As in he cares for the members the most, and knows what's going on in their real lives. I think he said that in Tokyo Friend Park? XD
Not sure, but I think he can be fussy too, which might add to the whole image. XD

From what I know, Ohno has been called "ojiisan" since the Nama Arashi period. Maybe somewhere along that period he was given the nickname "otousan" ^^

erm.. my icon, you mean? LOL it's from an ad campaign that DBSK did. Yunho and Micky became the "Goofy Brothers" and made 2 ads where all they did was dork around with eachother.

i cant remmber which interview but aiba did said that sho is like a mother coz he cares so much abt the other four and worry alot...so aiba call him okasan too..XD

There was a video on youtube where they were all playing on stage in the middle of a concert. At the end of their game they went back to the main stage but they had left a basket behind full of the stuff they'd been playing with. Sho saw that and ran back to get it and carry it. The other members cracked up at this and started calling him "Okaasan" on stage.

I can't tell you where it began but I can tell you my thoughts on why he's called okaasan.

Sho looks out for people constantly. Unlike Jun who will do things (such as cutting up and serving food or cleaning something up on Arashi no Shukudai-kun) because he himself would want them done for him, Sho looks out for people in a very protective manner. He is cautious about keeping a good general mood going and not breaking that.

With Arashi that seems to have turned into something stronger. I get the impression that Sho is caring and watchful type. They could all be playing around doing something, with Sho getting just as pumped up as everyone else, but in actual fact he's also keeping a careful eye on his fellow members. He'll be quick to catch them if they fall, or at least be at their side when it happens, and his alertness tends to go up if something interesting though possibly dangerous enters the room. He's also one of the first to praise them when they do something great. Members say he sends emails the moment he has seen an episode of their dramas.

I can't prove a lot of this, because these are just observations but some examples I can give are when Aiba was doing the vacuum cleaner experiment for D no Arashi in Concert, and the Gakkou he Ikkou HNA special. Sho was quick to pull Aiba out of the box and give him oxygen while in the GI special he investigated what the weirdo newbie (ie the boy in drag that was part of the plan) had left in the room he was sharing with Aiba.

Sorry if my answer is long and incoherent but what I guess I'm trying to say is that Sho is very watchful over and caring for those close to him, especially the other members. I think they noticed this and decided that "okaasan" was an appropriate name for his behavior. I guess they're telling him that sometimes he's a bit too much of a mother hen. <3

Although this Q has pretty much been answered, I wanted to show some Sho-kaasan love.

In Arashi's SCP talk early this year, to celebrate their upcoming 10 yr anniversary, the members mentioned how Sho will do things like organising menus and booking restaurants when the 5 get together, because he likes matching up everyone's preferences and the others are happy to leave it up to him.

That is a true okaasan in action!
