Hey, everyone~! i was just wondering why arashi never appeared on kouhaku. is there like a special reason? (sorry this is so random, i just got curious)
It's something about the conflict about having other JE groups at the same time in the same show. Also, there is the JE countdown, it will become complicated to organize with more group on Kouhaku (usually Tokio rush to the Dome from it in order to be at the Countdown)
i read somewhere that it's some sort of policy where only 2 JE groups are invited - which have been SMAP and TOKIO every year. So unless one of those two groups 'retires', Arashi will not have a chance to go on there. I thought that Arashi definitely deserved to be on Kouhaku back in January though - seeing how much they've accomplished throughout 2008 with all those top selling singles, dramas, movies, and whatnot... D;
Until then, I think Arashi will just be the MCs of the Countdown every year.
I think that policy is true Since there are so many JE groups and other artist. They cant give so many spots to the JE groups since that is not fare for the other artists and JE have their own countdown live anyways. And i think Arashi enjoy being in the Countdown live and have fun with every other JE groups. Dun feel bad for them...coz Kouhaku is just one kind of way to show the success of an artist and Arashi uses alot of other ways to show it^^
maybe this upcoming or next new years they can make an appearance
they cant be MC for the countdown very long. tackey and tsubasa's turn might up soon.
sure, this is arashi's 10th anniversary and they might still host the countdown but im thinkin, on kinki's 10th, arashi hosted, so shouldnt the next debut group (T&T) host during then?
watching the old countdowns b4 kinki's 10th anniversary, it seemed that there have nv been a clearly defined host grp and it was pretty much a mess until arashi was entrusted w the MC role...! so i guess it's all their variety show performance that earned them this MC role which other grps wun be able to replace easily? that's just wat i think though! (and i could be biased XP)
that's what i'm thinking too. i mean.. they already became the host for 2 yrs. in a row.. *if i'm not mistaken* and so.. there would be conflicts for sure, if they'll be the one to host again.. *though that's what i want forever.. LOL.. XD*
so, maybe.. there is a possibility that they will appear this year.. also because, it's their 10th yr.. :)
Like the person above said, Kouhaku is really not what it used to be. It's still sort of an honor to be on it, but there's not much rhyme or reason as to who gets to be on it anymore - hell, Leah Dizon got to be on it a few years ago and she's not exactly a respected act. It seems to still be on for the sake of tradition, but viewership is way down.
As for Arashi (and most Johnnys groups) not being on it, it's basically as people here have said - Johnnys has their own countdown that is taped at the same time, so most Johnnys acts do that rather than Kouhaku - which to me is a lot better deal. At Countdown, you'll see Arashi performing throughout the entire show singing both their songs and other JE songs, but at Kouhaku they'd only get one song (and it'll be one you've seen 100 times already) and maaybe be in some medly. SMAP doesn't participate in all-JE events anymore because they're too popular (their fans would crowd out fans of all the other groups), so they pretty much represent Johnnys at Kouhaku, with Tokio making a small appearance before rushing to countdown.
