The purpose of this post is to let you guys be more aware of the risks the subbers all around you are taking.

Some of you may realise that I am silzephyrfa2 from Youtube(and that I just very recently removed every single video I uploaded). I have decided to post about this to create an awareness to all in the fandom alike.

The reason why I did what I did was because of a PM I received recently:

Well, you get the gist of it. Imagine my alarm. I am highly aware that this could be a private note from a Japanese fan itself, posing as the main office, yes I am. It could be a prank even. But this, in my POV, is a clear threat to report me to JE itself unless I remove all my videos.

What I want you guys to be aware of is of the dangers subbers are taking for you all and the risks that they know they are taking.

The danger doesn't come from JE only, but all the Japanese fans they have. (And goodness knows how many millions they have)

Please appreciate the subbers more, abide by the rules they have stated. The risks they take are very high. Meaning, if they say don't upload to streaming sites, REALLY DON'T UPLOAD them. The ones who'll be sued will be them after all. Yes, I upload on Youtube, but this is my own work, my own choice, my own rule, not anybody else's, so do not bash me for this. I did it because I know there are new fans every day in need of a translation, who doesn't know how to use lj yet.  I do NOT upload others' works and you shouldn't too^^.

However, I have chosen to stop now. This is my choice now and again.

Thank you for sharing. The risks are high, and that's why I sincerely appreciate all the subbers have given to the english speaking Arashi/Johnnys fan community. I hope you won't have any more problems with this... and it's definitely your choice to stop! I'm taking Japanese in college, so hopefully I'll get to point where I can just watch raw videos or even contribute translations myself!... haha.

I know that Art Bank Corporation is deleting Johnny's stuff around us...my youtube account had suspend by art bank corporation though I uploaded raw videos...
but I have never seen this messege before...I was surprised because I thought they will delete copyright things withought notice...they are little kind for HP stuff lol
well,then I don't know why they don't delete all arashi videos on youtube....yes, we need to be carefull for the corporation.

A lot of people lately think that we're being elitist and mean, but they don't understand the risks we're taking subbing for them and distributing these files for their enjoyment.

I even had my old Youtube account deleted for Janiben clips I had put up, subbed.

Well, the ultimate solution is for groups to not mark their files; that way, in the event of someone ignoring the rules and streaming it, it can't be traced back to the subbers themselves. They'd be protected. :/

I have a feeling this isn't from JE. Johnnys Entertainment and many, many other corporations have removed videos from youtube. Occationally people get warnings that ask them to take their files down, but most of the time the companies just file a complaint with youtube itself and ask the videos to be removed en masse. That's why you see those red "Removed at the request of ____" I also think they'd make some effort to write the message in English if they were going to email you with legal threats, since they couldn't win as much in damages if you couldn't even understand the notice letter.

Of course everyone should always be careful about file sharing and keep files off of streaming sites, especially full shows. I just don't think anyone should panic or freak out that JE is going to sue them. I think for now it's much easier for JE to tell youtube to take down videos or to ban a user than to sue, especially internationally (copyright law isn't enforceable in all countries).

Thanks for this Silverfa! I hope people realize the seriousness that what subbers are doing could get them in trouble (regardless of whether or not the pm you received was really from JE or not) and will refrain from uploading them.

It is a shame you had to stop your videos though, I always loved seeing when you up-ed a new silly clip or our boys. ^__^

Thanks for sharing. It's truly risky for subbers to put their works onto streaming sites, thus the change of rules amongst many subbing groups.


Maybe people will take the warnings the subbing groups put into place, more seriously. ^^

I think, people should really understand how these thing are really scary when it come to copyright, especially coming from JE...really though...I could never understand why would people are always breaking rule...that just kill themselve...

but anyway, thanks for more cleary warning....at least...we can really see now that these things really going on...

lastly, just wish we can survive a bit more, and people dont break rule, and JE please spare us a bit and promote your idol to the world ^^

I don't get what this has to do with subbers. It's a well-known fact by now that JE is taking action to remove all of their videos from Youtube, regardless if they're subbed or not. I think anyone uploading ANYTHING is taking a risk, not just subbers. idk what was the point of this entry. It just seems very roundabout to me.

hahaha~ Sometimes, JE artist didnt now that they are very famous outside japan. It's seem surprised to them. Gahhhh~ Of course, they are famous because we watch about them even though we did not know japanese but with the help of subber, We know about them a lot of things.

I understand your choice to remove them though - better safe than sorry. Funny how folks who don't fansub can't understand why we don't want our stuff on streaming websites.... >.>; The idiots over at dramacrazy still haven't removed my Quiz Show 1 episodes, and I've given up posting on the threads asking them to be removed when all they do is delete them. Morons will be morons, ne? :D

I hope the PM you got wasn't really from a connection of JEs o__0 I was subscribed to you too and really enjoyed your subbed vids, thanks for all your hard work ^__^ Although, this is a good oppoturnity to stop, thanks for all that you contributed up to now. xP When I was new to the fandom, I just searched YT for clips but I joined the Arashi thread at GaiaOnline and they directed me to LJ (what every Arashi fan needs to keep updated with, hehe ^^) I hope fans understand the gravity of the situation now...we wouldn't want an international lawsuit on our hands.

Just wanted to express my gratitude to all subbers - they do so much for non Japanese speaking fans - thanks so much! It makes being a fan much more enjoyable if we understand whats going - once again, thanks! XD

thank you for this post...it's sad but its true. some people need to some cold water splashed on their faces for them to realize how rude and messed up it is to upload someone else's hardwork, even when they are forewarned NOT to. i hope that every single fan appreciates everything all the subbers do for without them, we wouldn't be able to understand what is going on with the boys. again, i hope they will stop uploading for the sake of the fandom. be careful and i hope your good deeds in the past dont get you in trouble.
