Nino as a mad murderer on his new butai

Arashi's Kazunari Ninomiya attended a press conference on Thursday for the stage play "Strangers on a Train" ("Mishiranu Joukyaku"). This is his first play in 4 years. He commented, "I've been 'away' from work outside Arashi, so this gives me the feeling of being allowed to study."

The play is based on the popular novel of the same name, which was turned into a film by Alfred Hitchcock in 1951. The suspenseful story tells of a wealthy young man who happens to meet an up-and-coming architect on a train. The two agree to "exchange" murders. Robert Allan Ackerman, who has handled several Broadway productions, will produce the play.

Ninomiya plays Bruno, the young man with a side of a mad murderer. Kumiko Akiyoshi plays his mother. Shige Uchida has also been cast.

The play is being performed at the Tokyo Globe Theatre from July 18 to August 11.

Oh, wow. I'm not surprised that Nino is getting more serious offers due to the Galaxy Award, but this is pretty amazing. True, this is still a 'Johnny's' play, but they have brought in an amazing producer and the plot has been recognized by Hitchcock. That's pretty darn impressive, Nino. I am really looking forward to the direction that his acting career is going to take because he always delivers. :3 Looks like I chose a pretty awesome ichiban. <333 *insert fangirl bias*

I will be in Tokyo around the first week, I wish tickets would be available outside of the fanclub, because I live overseas and I don't have a Japanese address.... I love watching plays especially ones that sounds as provacative as this premise. Too bad, I won't see it there. At first, I thought "yay" I'm there but seeing that tickets might not be available at the box office, kinda makes me sad :(. This might actually be a Johnny's play I would love to see not only because of the Johnny boys but for plot and execution. Here's hoping I can get a ticket. :)

Strangers on a train is my favourite Alfred Hitchcock movie and has one of the finest portrayal of a sociopath character in a movie....

Nowadays Arashi boys are getting more and more angsty and 'bad-boy' roles, don`t you think so? xDDD
Ohno in Maou, Aiba in prison in Greenfingers, Jun in prison as well - no matter how smiley he is, Sho in TQS also has clearly unclear role and now Nino as a mad murderer~~
