Arashi no Waza Ari! (OA July 17)
Jul. 27th, 2004 09:31 pmAs you all know, Arashi no minna have their own variety show called 「嵐の技ありっ!」 and for those who haven't watched it here’s a summary of the OA July 17 episode.
The guys are on Sumida River, making their way by boat from... Notaya (?!) to Tokyo Bay and Fuji Terebi station. Sorry, I have no knowledge of Japan's geography, please correct me if I've made a mistake. Because they are currently doing a series of 「夏お休みの直前」 (trans: before the summer vacation) specials, Kitaro asks the 5 boys what was often written on their report cards.
Aiba: Gloomy. Everyone laughed when Aiba said this. But then he went on to explain that he did get noisy when the teacher wasn't around. ^^
Ohno: If he wants to, he can do it.
MatsuJun: Look around you a bit more. I suppose that was meant to encourage Jun to be more friendly?!
Nino: Surely, you should make your surroundings more tidy.
Sho: You should stop being so quick to anger.
It’s been three months since Ohno’s last appearance on 「大人の味な旅」. お久し振り、大ちゃん、三ヵ月振りでした。It’s also Aiba and Ohno’s first time working together. The guest for the day was Matsumoto Iyo-san, I have no idea who she is, but was apparently a top idol back in the 80s.
First stop, the boys go fly fishing, but they have to go make their own bait-hooks first! Ohno and Matsumoto-san’s hooks both get praised by the teachers for their great handiwork while Aiba’s comment was that it didn’t even look like bait! Ah, poor Aiba-chan! ^^
Now the team’s ready to go fly fishing! They stood there for ages, but no fish were biting. Matsumoto-san was the first to get a hit, but the fish got away. 残念ですね。Aiba gets a hit! Hee hee. ^^ He shows it off to Ohno who just ignores him. Aiba reminds the sensei that he had said that Aiba’s bait-hook was no good. ^^ Aiba gets three hits in total, but the second time, his line snags in the bushes and the fish gets away. Aiba was the only one to catch any fish. Oh-chan blamed his bad luck on the fact that the fish weren’t looking in the direction of his bait. When the fish finished cooking, Aiba only let Oh-chan have a slab of skin! Oh-chan said: “It’s a failure!”
Then they went to this camp ground and made camp-style bread, like hampers and stuff, from scratch. Ohno made this weird looking roll which the baker commented would definitely taste bad. When the time came to taste the breads they had made, Ohno claimed that the roll he made was very nice and offered the baker a taste, but the baker refused. Aiba’s one was so good it got shared around and when the baker asked for a taste, Ohno didn’t let him and pointed to his own roll, saying: “You have to eat mine first!”
The last loaction they went to was a pottery place. Aiba chose to use the mechanical spinner and made this huge mug/jug on the which took two tries because the first time, Ohno and Matsumoto-san both said that they wanted to have a go on the spinner and ended up completely destroying Aiba’s work so Aiba had to start again. Personally, I thought Aiba’s first go looked better. ^^ Ohno and Matsumoto-san both make tea bowls. Aiba and Ohno bring back their creations to show Arashi no minna.
Nino (looking at Aiba’s humungous mug/jug): Isn’t this huge?
Kitaro: German people drink from mugs about that size.
Nino: But Kitaro, he isn’t German! He’s a Chiba-n! 「でもきたろうさん、ドイツ人じゃないんだ。千葉の人なんだ。あの人!」
Aiba (laughing): Shut up!
Finally, it’s the evening meal. Sorry, can’t tell you much (because I sort of skipped my way through the entire show and watched it without sound) except that they had some kind of fish and for the first course. Aiba and Matsumoto-san both decided to have the sashimi first which Ohno was the only one to drink the soup first. Ah, always unique. ^^
Aiba lost out in this week’s game, and his punishment was: no tempura! Ah, poor guy, with Oh-chan munching away in his face, obviously trying to get back at Aiba for catching all the fish!
でもねぇ、What really bothered me about this episode was that Nino got really quite and moody towards the end of the show. He didn’t even touch the tempura that he had been served. I hope he’s just tired, from filming his drama, and the hectic Arashi schedule above anything else. 気をつけて、ニノ君! 今度のepisodeに好きな元気笑顔を見て欲しい。
