sorry if my post going twice
there's some prob with my comp/internet
but i would like to share and help
i used to buy cd/dvd from yesasia
and i never been asked for custom duties
btw i'm from malaysia too
but maybe because arashi cd all the best price
is less than RM200
so u might have to pay for the duties
i already preorder arashi cd all the best 99-09 with
dvd final time concert 2007
and it cost more than RM200
so no duties required from me
u can check from the statement by yesasia
before we proceed to purchase item
i'm sure they do inform all charges
including the duties amount
u can always pay in yesasia by credit card
hope this help u somehow

i've just ordered from YesAsia. it's USD48.49 with free shipping. didnt mention any custom fees. i've previously bought cd/dvd from CDJapan, YesAsia and Play-Asia but i've never encountered any problem like yours.

I paid by Paypal, by the way

Date: 2009-06-26 03:12 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] mayreez.livejournal.com

if that's the case,i think the fee should be included in the shipping.coz i've never been asked to pay specifically for custom duties

This is a question best asked on a personal journal, but.

Custom fees are simple. You pay a fee to receive an imported good. If you don't pay the fee, then whatever you ordered can't enter the country and is sent back. You only pay fees once; the package will either be marked paid as it leaves Japan/Hong Kong, or it will enter customs and you will be sent a notice saying "Please pay this amount." Either way, pay the fee, you'll get your package.

If you need more answers, you should contact your local post office, rather than ask the Arashi community.

I'm in Thailand. Here, we have to pay import duty and VAT tax as well. When I ordered the CD through internet such as from Yesasia or HMV we do not have to pay the Duty&Tax for our order to Yesasia or HMV. But those import duty and VAT Tax will be charged by Thai Custom through written notice send by Thai Post office asking us to pick up The CD and pay Duty&Tax for the amount they inform in such written notice. So PAY for those duty and VAT Tax or you not allow to get the merchandises you order. It is also subject to import regulation of each country for the Tax rate. Sometime when I order small items, I have a good luck that they do not charge any Duty&Tax, my order will be delivered to my home directly. Hope my answer could help you in some degree.

Yup, same here. For bought stuff below 20€, I do not have to pay fees. For gifts, the "free" amount is around 40€. Custom fees will usually be charged once the package enters you country - you might get a notice from the post office to come pick it up and pay the fee, or they might just send you a bill among with the package.

(I'm in Germany btw., but customs basically works the same everywhere. You can call your customs' office and ask for the specific country's value limits.)

hey i just ordered mine from yesasia and i havent encountered any customs duties fee before.and i payed by paypal.i think ordering from yesasia is cheaper cause they have free internationl shipping.and they sent it as a gift so it wont get detected by customs.cause my previous packages were all marked as gift.hope this helps

Hmm..same like tippyrose said..actually the Tax fee is not from the seller itself..but from the custom officers/department..I dont know in Malaysia how much the tax is but here in my country [Brunei] cd/dvd tax is 5% from the selling price **and luckily YESasia always didnt put the total price of the merchandise and sometime I fake the price..hahaha..bad me..** and IF you are lucky enough..the custom officer will let your item pass just like tippyrose said..

i just want to know
when you're using money order
the amount is in ringgit or other currencies?

can you explain more how to used it?

hi...anonymous?
i paid in ringgit.
it's simple, really.the post office will handle all the exchange rate/currency stuffs.
i just came prepared with the money.hehe
though i do check current exchange rate before finalizing my order ^^

as of more explanation on using money order, i suggest you go to your nearest post office and ask them about international money order.
it really is simple.
ah,and you'll get charged an additional RM4.00 fee.
good luck!

hello again =)
em,do you have LJ account?
i think i'll be easier to "discuss" matter using it.huhu

it means that we just send it and just wait for the confirmation?
emm, i don't quite get your question but i'll try to answer base on my understanding..
i went to post office, filled the international money order form, paid the money and that's pretty much it.
CDJapan e-mailed me when they received the money.
this usually took 2-3 weeks..

have u overcome the poblem already?
it just my opinion that it'll be easier if u r paying using credit card or pay pal debit card for purchasing in yesasia
but still
buying arashi's stuff from yesasia
is definitely ok with me
since the money we being charged is fix
i mean they really end up asking amount
which had been stated and no other charges
good luck:)
