Your friend's friend can also walk down Takeshita Doori and practically every shop has posters, pictures, etc. I'm not sure if they sell old music, but there are also a bunch of music stores in that area too.

I'm planning to go to that JE shop in Harajuku soon.. and yeah I heard that you have to queue before you get in? Or is it just in specific days? You don't need to present anything right when you get in right? What stuff do they usually sell inside? Or the price range of the things being sold? Do they sell concert goods too?

I don't think it is really close, but it is closer than the other options (Osaka, Nagoya & Fukuoka). If they are really busy, you'll receive a time from a store worker letting you know what time to come back and you can enter the shop. But this is only for official goods like shop pictures & uchiwa, maybe some photo albums. There are lots of places you can get other stuff. Either conbini & bookstores for magazines or those shops on Takeshita Doori. I think it is really random what you will find there other than posters. I've seen photo files, stickers, and those balls that they sign and throw out at concerts (I guess people sell them to the shop).

Hi! As said up there, the better place to buy unnofficial goods it is definately harajuku. i was there just two days ago, and saw an enormous bunch of pics and big posters with such a cute pictures of all of them!!!

Also, you can tell your friends friend to head off to the big Kinokuniya in Shinjuku. They have there TONS of official and unofficial phtobooks (as all the Otawara photobooks in which the all are so awesome and teh Arashi Around Asia official photobbok, and the DreamAlive one, with the CD), besides the last magazines featuring them.

The last place I recommend is the ultra big Mandarake, just next to the Nakano JR station (中野駅), because I was there just yesterday, and saw a lot of pics of them, older uchiwas up until their Dream Alive tour from 2008, many regular edition DVDs, some regular edition singles, and a few limited edition ones, such as Step and Go, Sakura Sake at 2500yen (this last one pretty difficult to find at a cheap price like this, if you ask me), and also some more phtobooks again, and big OFFICIAL posters from previous tours. I bought myself a Matsumoto Jun one from the AAA in Dome in perfect shape for just 1500yen!!

So those are the places I would recommend you. Of course, you can always prefer the official Johnnys shop in Harajuku. I think its ok if you want to buy many official pics. Its hard to enter, not impossible. Its hard mainly due to the amount of fans who get to go the same day. For that reason, you must go first to the beautiful place in front of Harajuku station, to wait for the shop staff to come. They will give your friends friend a ticket with the hour in which she/he will be able to enter the shop on it. She/he just need to wait for that hour to come! n____n

I really hope to have been of some help for you! Anything else, ask me. I will try and answer the best way I can! :D

Hey! I just noticed it was you the one who made the post! xD

Well, the All the Best LE album I think it is not preordenable anymore... The only option I see is for your friends friend to go to the CDs shops on the release day, and try to find it. But it will be most likely all sold by the release day...

And about the Arashi best selection 5x5 LE, just a few days ago it was available at the BookOff webpage. Your friends friend could take it from there, since they only ships to Japan. So I recommend you to stalk tha online shop from time to time, as to check the availability of the CDs and DVDs -> http://www.bookoffonline.co.jp/display/001,iscd=0010009890

Yeah, the official photosets are sold ONLY at the Johnnys sho, and the concert venues.

So, taking the chance that concerts for the new tour are starting at the end of this month, you could order some goods from your friends friend, too! n________n

Harajuku might be easier for her to go and buy stuff. The Johnny's shop sell all the official stuff, but as of 3 weeks ago, the only Arashi stuff that's left there are the photos, for 500 yen each.

If she walks down the next road which is Takeshita Dori, she can find a lot of shop with official and non-official goods. But the official goods one are not recent, it can go way back to their first merchandice, and everything official there cost more than 500 yen (for example, I bought Kokuritsu clear file for 1200 yen and Johnny's countodwn 08 bag for 800 yen. original price was cheaper)

Harajuku is definitely the safest bet to buying goods. If your friend wants to buy unofficial goods (which is mostly stickers and other umm.... useless(?) things, then those shops would probably have it.) They also sell tickets sometimes, but I think Arashi is kind of so popular now that even buying it from there would be a rip-off.

For magazines and CDs, I'm sure there would be a bookstore around her place somewhere. Convenience stores also sell magazines. Aiba's recent ShuShu feature could only be bought at a 7/11.

Also Mandarake's 5th floor in Akihabara has Arashi goods like pamphlets, CDs, uchiwa, photos (and doujinshi, if that's your cup of tea.)

So yeah, definitely lots of choices for goods. It's just a matter of if you're willing to pay for them since they can get expensive.

Oh yeah. Those goods are official. They are overpriced though. Like a clear file can cost 1200yen? Which is a lot more expensive than the price they were originally sold for.

I think Harajuku is a little bit closer. I mean, if your friend is willing to travel to Tokyo to buy goods, an extra 20-30 min on the Yamanote line won't really make a difference? I personally prefer Mandarake because it's closer to where I live and it's less crowded than those shops on Takeshita Doori.

location: hachioji-shi. hachioji-shi is not part of the 23 wards of tokyo, you can think of it as suburban tokyo. hachioji is quite big (hey it's home to mt. takao) so depending on where she is, it could take her from 40 minutes to 90 minutes to get to shinjuku. then add 5-20 minutes more from shinjuku to the various places mentioned above (akihabara is 2 transfers if you want to get there quick, harajuku is one yamanote train ride and i'd recommend nakano broadway too via chuo line).

there are no official johnny's store anywhere in hachioji. there might be small stores that sell 2nd hand idol goods (not just specifically JE) scattered all around the city but i cannot tell you where they are. i haven't found any myself. but there is always bookoff. they sometimes carry old cds (but since arashi is so popular this days, you might not find it in the bargain shelves) and old photobooks and old magazines. plus used dvds of jdramas (just be aware that the region in japan is different from most countries).

for posters and such goods, the only other spot i can recommend is nakano broadway. if you friend has quick access to chuo line rapid it is just one long train ride to nakano. they have about 3 stores there that sells JE goods.

now if you have a credit card, and have her address, i would recommend you order from amazon.co.jp. they still have most of the photobooks, cds and stuff (do not expext the LE for the new best album, probably none for the others either). of course they will new (unless otherwise stated) so you pay full price (or sometimes premium if you buy it at the amazon marketplace and it's a rare piece).

if you can tell me from what station of what train line your friend will be coming from, maybe i can figure out the travel times to some of the places mentioned above. but then if your friend has been here long enough, she/he probably already knows how to get around. so all she has top do is time your shopping with her trips to metropolitan tokyo.

goodluck finding a site then. no music store in japan is accepting pre-orders anymore. last i talked to my local tsutaya (and a dozen other music stores) they told me that all their LE copies were pre-ordered within days of the news release. only hope to get it in japan is to wait for the store to open on release day and hope they have it.

if you read down the community i think someone posted that they have excess. try their or try the auctions later.
