Your Arashi collection
Aug. 12th, 2009 06:05 pmFirstly, thanks for your answers in my last poll ^^.
Today, again, I have some request. Can you make a list, about your Arashi collection? I mean what goods connected with Arashi you have. (singles, photobook etc)
(Including things like if it's Limited Edition or Normal and if it's Japan Version or some other for ex. Korean is loved ♥ )
And one more thing. If you could add which things are loved by you, or are thought to be a must-have goods I would be truly happy.
Thanks a lot minna :).

Date: 2009-08-12 04:46 pm (UTC)But well, I won't post about what I have coz I don't want to even start...it'll take like a few days and perhaps make me die over the amount I've spend on them.

Date: 2009-08-12 04:47 pm (UTC)Actually, the thing is, it depend on your opinion that which part of them you want to cherish the collection, some is magazine some is single or both single and album blah blah. but for me, for single, I'll buy only DVD edition and surely buy albums, DVD for their live concerts. and plus the FC mag and con goods.
I used to buy every single thing they had released but I found that I love to watch their DVD more than collecting their Shop photo and Calender.
I think you should start buying from now on, not buying back-date (in case that you have some money and want to spend i still recommend 5x5 Limited edition)
Hope this help

Date: 2009-08-12 05:57 pm (UTC)For concert goods, calendars, and limited edition versions: While lots of people have suggested some great items, I think obtaining them is a little impractical. You'll have to use Yahoo! Auctions or a similar service to get them since they're no longer available on sale. That means everything will be quite expensive, and if you don't live in Japan you'll need to use a go-between service which will drive the cost up.
I agree on the suggestion of 5x5 LE - it's expensive, but cheaper than going back and buying aaaalll of those singles/albums.
Some personal favorite items of mine (that are still available in stores) are the Iza Now, Time, and Dream-A-Live albums, almost any of the concerts (How's it Going and Iza Now have great bonus features) and the Arashigoto and Arashi Around Asia photobooks.

Date: 2009-08-12 04:59 pm (UTC)Like someone else said, the only things that you should really go back to buy are the DVDs and maybe some of the albums. I also really liked the TIME DVD, and the AAA+ in Dome DVD from the first AAA tour. I feel like those are both must-haves and, for me, they are a beloved part of my collection. I've also tried to collect all the albums, getting whichever version is better available to me.
When it comes to singles, I only get what I REALLY like. Let's face it, Arashi release a new single just about every month lately. I don't have the money for that when I like almost all the other groups too. Sorry boys :P
Aside from that, when it comes to goods and things... if there's something you really like from past concerts, you can try to find it on Yahoo!Japan Auctions, but if not, don't bother with that stuff. Just collect goods starting from now and you'll have a good collection in no time.

Date: 2009-08-12 05:03 pm (UTC)in my opinion, the first important thing about buying Arashi related goods is "the budget"..like what anonymous-san said, not everyone can afford to buy everything..and it is not good to brag about it,especially when Arashi 10th Anniversary Concert Tour is just right ahead of us..because maybe some fans will feel belittle[??] & inferior because they have just a little or countable items..although that your post is not intentionally about bragging.. :)
2nd is either the goods worth buying or not..just because a magazine is Arashi covered or mentioning Arashi in it,doesnt mean sometime it is worth buying..but that is the fans own decision to buy it or not, isnt it..
but if you ask me about my Arashi collection,I do have tons of it..cd [singles & albums],dvd, official & unofficial photobooks, concert goods and many more..just mentioning some of it so that I dont hurt "some" fans feeling or to be called "bragging".. ~<33333

Date: 2009-08-12 05:24 pm (UTC)Albums: Time was a really good album for the music, but ONE's limited edition came with a bonus DVD with tons of footage too. That one's really hard to get your hands on, though.
Singles: I'm not too keen on singles so I don't really have a favourite for them, sorry ^^; I liked the packaging of Nice na Kokoroiki's limited edition? And Hadashi no Mirai's Coca Cola design.
DVDs: I'd go for probably either Time or AAA2008. You can probably find downloads for them (or have already watched them) so I don't need to go into much detail here.
Photobook: Arashigoto for a nice comprehensive look at Arashi over the years, though I enjoyed Arashi Around Asia a lot too.
Calendars: 2003-2004 for possibly the widest range of photoshoots in any of their calendars, 2006-2007 for the size and quality of the calendar itself (I also liked the two-page format where you can lift up the top page for each month to see candid shots of them during the photoshoots), and 2008-2009, which is the correct date for the one that comes with a bonus cookbook-- again for the quality of the calendar and the photoshoots.
Concert pamphlets: 02-03 Atarashi Arashi, if not for the 10 pages of Arashi stickers that come with it. Either that or 2007 Time, because not only is the overall quality nice, there's a wide variety of photoshoots and they all looked great in it.
Concert goods: There's way too many to count, but some of my favourites are the tote bag from How's it Going? because it's really sturdy and practical, the stationery set from AAA+ 2007, the cellphone strap and sticker set from Time, and the character design version of Dream-A-Live's cellphone strap.
I'm not purposely trying to pimp myself out here, but you can try taking a look at Sakura Sake (http://sakurasake.net23.net/index.html), which is like a visual reference site for most Arashi goods, and you can find many of the things I listed above on the site too. Hope that helps!

Date: 2009-08-12 05:41 pm (UTC)totally agree with you recommending ONE LE..I really love Arashi ONE album..its like a turning point or an upgrade album for Arashi **the 1st album with member solo track included** and TIME is Arashi 2nd upgrade album **the 1st album with member solo track "cd" included**..and also TIME concert pamphlet because they have 2 version of it.. :D

Date: 2009-08-12 05:49 pm (UTC)Well, if you want to buy something like they all said, TIME would really be a good choice! But All the Best! 1999-2009 is also one of the choice cause it's gonna released soon and it has the singles and stuff in XD
But I personally prefer their dramas. I collect most of their dramas. ^^

Date: 2009-08-12 10:20 pm (UTC)As for DVDs, I really love love love Time and AAA08. The AAA dvd is good, but I think only the LE is worth it but the LE is also really expensive even at the cheapest of idol shops. Album wise, Time is probably their best album by far to me. Arashic's special edition has the half hour digest of the One tour but that's pretty hard to get your hands on, 5x5's LE has the PVs in DVD but that's also very hard to get your hands on. For books, I really enjoyed Arashigoto and Dream A Live (the book is sooo much better than any scans out there.) For concert pamphlets, I only own a few, but One's concert pamphlet by far has the most photos for the buck? And they're really pretty too.
I don't really care for singles so I can't really give you any advice on them. But I think Aozora Pedal's bonus edition is pretty cool with the making-of and everything, so is Step and Go's? I just really like singles with making-ofs attached to them.

Date: 2009-08-12 11:59 pm (UTC)i think i read someone's comment about buying the new releases from now on, it's a good suggestion! good luck with your collection, it's an expensive thing to get addicted to so be sure to check around for prices. :)
i know what you mean..
Date: 2009-08-14 07:07 am (UTC)That's odd. The spell check says Kanjani8 is ok, but it underlines Arashi as misspelled.

Date: 2009-08-14 07:04 am (UTC)The Time cd is my favorite as well.
DVD-wise; AAA+, Iza now, and AAA08 are all good (I think AAA+ is my favorite by a narrow margin).
Bookwise, Arashi Around Asia is my favorite and has some of the most gorgeous photos. Arashigoto is a fun one too.
The 08-09 calendar is another favourite.
My three favorite goods are my Kokuritsu uchiwas, my Freestyle poster, and my Kitto Daijoubu promo poster. But things like that are hard to come by and expensive.
AAA+ is probably the thing I use the most, though.

Date: 2009-08-14 08:07 pm (UTC)If you want to be a collect or having all or most of Arashi CD/DVD I think you can buy Korea or Taiwan version which is also worth to buy cos the price is more reasonable which means you can buy more if you want,i.e. Japanese version is $12 but HK version is only $9.99 (refering to YesAsia). All of its packages is mostly the same with Japanese version (cos it gonna have Chinese alphabet) and also the containing ,CD and DVD, is also the same with Japanese version. So, what's the different, is it?
For buying other than je_sales comm. I think you may try on following websites which offer free shipping in listed countries which means you can save some more.
Yesasia << you can choose to send as gift so that you may avoid custom fee

Play-asia

for the point that depends on which part of them you want to collect, I think you can try buying some first, like latest best album and Arashi is Alive Photobook as everyone here suggested, and see which one you are satisfied, if you love to open the photobook page by page, you may love to buy visual thing like [info]ames_909. If you prefer to watch them move, you may buy DVD next. Something like that.
I don't mean to tell you to use up all you money for that but I can get your point that you really don't know which one you should buy first (is it? lol i'm not sure though) but I understand the feeling that you want to buy something about Arashi SO much. Why don't you follow je_sales comm cos there always have Arashi stuff selling there from time to time.
