Limited Editons availability in Japan

Hello~
I've been wondering about one thing. How is it with LE singles,albums etc, are they normally available in bigger stores in Japan? Or are they really limited in Japan as well?

I think you can get LE CD's in most CD stores. ^^
I usually ask my grandma to order something for me at a CD store near her house.

The limited edition refers to first press release, which means that there is only a limited number of them made for when it is first released. Ususally in busier areas (like Tokyo) you would have to go early to get your hands on a copy of the LE version.

Depends on which CD/DVD you want! You can get Everything's limited edition for regular price in the stores, but as for Truth's limited edition, it is above 7500yen on auctions.

especially for Arashi, it's really hard for me to find limited editions. I'll even go to my local CD shop after school, and they'll already be sold out! But I haven't had this problem with other artists. I have limited editions of Kanjani8, and V6 albums/singles, and those are often still available for months after release. Arashi fans are really competitive when it comes to buying limited editions!

It really depends on the CD/Album/DVD you want. ARASHI's albums will sell out within 24 hours in the stores. The singles usually in a week. I've never had a problem when I go the night before the release date to get my cds.

Limiteds are basically just as rare in Japan as they are anywhere else. In Japanese music stores, both the limited edition and the regular edition will be sold on the first day of the release (or sometimes the night before). You can also pre-order either edition the same way you can online. There is a set number of limiteds - so once a store runs out of them, they won't get any more. This means if the limited edition is really popular, it'll sell out faster. If they run out of copies of the regular edition, they can just keep ordering more from the manufacturer until the CD goes out of print (this usually takes ages).

If you want to get copies of limited editions of older singles or albums (as in anything that's not brand-new), they are pretty hard to find. Sometimes you can find them in used CD stores, but usually you'll have to search on an auction service. Because Arashi is still popular, it's hard to find even regular edition copies of their CDs in used CD stores. For less popular artists, it's much easier to find limited editions.

I think they are also limited in Japan. I stayed in Japan for 6 months(jan to June this year), you can preorder cd/dvd/album in stores. I got suprise that i think it only took a week or so for the the Limited Edition of 5X10 album be sold out. meaning Pre order is no longer available. And its true that it is hard to find Arashi cd/dvd/album in stores like Book Off(this store usually sell used cd/dvd or sometimes new but old cd/dvd) but I can see plenty of v6/kinki kids/kattun/kanjani8 cds there :)

It also depends though on which store you go to, and when you go.
When I was in Japan from August 6th to the 10th, I found a limited edition Everything CD at the Tsutaya store in Akasaka. Obviously, it's been quite a while since Everything was released, so I was surprised to see it.
Then again, there was only one copy left, and no limited editions of any other CD.

I am not sure now if there are still some but when I was in Japan June this year pre order of Limited edition are already sold out. (this is in Yamanashi where I stayed for 6 months and in (july 1 to 7) Osaka where I stayed for a week before I left Japan)

It is amazingly and absolutly SOLD OUT

I couldnt order mine in time via internet, so I asked some friend that are studying in Japan to buy it for me they went around 11am [after they first class] on release day and the LE were sold out, they have been loking for it this day in diferents store and they couldnt found it T______T, they are gona try in little shop a little bit far from Tokyo, that is what i can recomend you but still is not a garanty
