Here's a translation of the link to Johnny's net that was posted up a little while ago, regarding the illegal buying and selling of concert tickets (specifically, for Arashi's upcoming concert tour). I've also translated the little notes at the bottom of the post, so maybe that will help clear some questions up for people?

EDIT: Feel free to repost this to other places or translate into other languages as long as you credit properly. Thanks!

A notice regarding the illegal trade of tickets issued by the concert agency
08/21/2009

Those who have read the membership agreement and ticket sales agreement will already be aware of this.

Despite most members joining with the simple intention of supporting our talents, it appears that some of our members have been joining with the objective of illegal trading. Illegal trading, reselling, transferring, loaning of membership serials, applying by proxy as well as requesting to apply by proxy are all forbidden in the membership agreement.

Acts of scalping or internet auctioning, should they be discovered, will be dealt with severely. All tickets that have been obtained through any other act of buying and selling outside of the proper sales route will be evaluated for profit-making intentions. In cases where the ticket holder is not accompanied by the person whose name it was purchased under during admission and exiting, it is possible that time will be taken during both for examination, and requests made to leave the premises.

Again, unofficial sites that swindle under the title of a Johnny's fan, offer the services of buying tickets as well as collect the personal information of our esteemed fans have been increasing. Sites like these are sites that are using the services which Johnny's offer for profit-making intentions. Once again, they are extremely malignant sites that make use of the mentality of Johnny's fans by feigning appearances of "Being helpful to fans", "Mutual support between fans", and so on. We will inform you of examples of unlawful sites below. To our esteemed fans, please be extremely careful not to disclose your personal information readily.

【 Tickets issued by the concert agency that are printed with the following seating numbers are now invalid. 】

※ Those in possession of tickets with matching seating numbers with the above list must contact the concert agency by phone as soon as possible, or approach the concert agency counter before entering on the day of the the show. If you do not make a confirmation to the concert agency in advance, you will be asked to leave the premises when you reach your seat. Please understand that the seat will be given to someone else.

※ In order to confirm your identity at the venue, please bring official documents that can confirm your identity with you without fail.

※ Those who were not listed above may also be asked to confirm their seating on the day of the show. We ask for your cooperation.

◆ In the cases where we receive official queries with lawful basis from public institutions such as the court and the police, the concert agency may disclose personal information.

Once again, we will like to ask for everyone's understanding and cooperation.

Thank you for translating~♥
Uwah~ This is bad for foreign fans >.<'' It's even harder to get tickets, probably impossible now.
But I'm also glad they're doing something about the online auctioning and people selling it for 10x the original price. D:

glad, because the jimusho's intentions are good, especially for the true fans
sad, because it only means, it's freaking hard for international fans to get tickets now..
Johnny should just really consider establishing their own international fanclub

i'm mostly glad they're taking action, because i feel bad for those fans who really want to go while these swindlers are taking the tickets and pawning them off for their own profit. hopefully this will help to discourage these swindlers...

This is bringing both an advantage and disadvantage for fans in Jpn and fans overseas respectively. It does kind of suck for overseas fans like me ):

Thanks for the translation!

Actually if they seriously carry out all the above measures, it's not just foreign fans who will be affected but the genuine Japanese fans too since they won't even be able to trade with other fans for tickets. If they ballot for the tickets, get lucky and get them but then circumstances appear and they can't go, that ticket would be wasted since they can neither sell, trade or give it away and you'll have an empty seat there.

Date: 2009-08-23 05:31 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] j-halo7.livejournal.com
I forgot to add.

All these actions JE are taking seems to be punishing the person who bought the tickets illegally and not the people who are selling them. The only way the seller would be affected is having their membership blacklisted but they already have the money from selling the ticket and they can always reapply for another member account.

Oh wow. This really stinks for us foreign fans, although I understand where the company is coming from.
The idea of international fanclubs is nice though. :D

But I'm just wondering: What would happen to those fans who already bought tickets that weren't canceled and yet wouldn't have the the documents to prove identity and get it?
If they get pushed away at the door, I'd feel really sorry for them. :(

Thank you for the translation.

i just hope that this is a kind of preparation for setting up an international fanclub. i mean, i guess by now they've already realized the number of foreign fans attending concerts and importing albums~~ (i hope)

Ugh, if only scalping wasn't such a huge issue, this wouldn't have happened. Because at least in the US, selling tickets is totally legal as long as you're not selling them for more than what you paid. Apparently too many fan club members were taking advantage of their position in order to make a profit, and now it's come to this. D:

I wonder if all of this is mostly big threats to scare people off or if they're really going to take serious action. At a huge venue like Kokuritsu or some of the domes, it seems impossible to stop every suspicious looking person and do an ID check. It's easy enough to pull aside blatantly non-Asian people trying to enter with tickets with a Japanese name on them, but then that's a huge act of racism since there are likely to be tons of other people (non-Japanese Asian fans and Japanese fans alike) with illegally obtained tickets. It seems like logistically, banning seat numbers that show up on auction sites would be the best way to go. That won't stop everyone, but it's better than holding up the lines for ID checks or pulling aside white girls.

I guess after the Kokuritsu concerts happen and reports start coming in we'll know more.

so i guess the only way to see them in a concert will be if they hold a concert outside Japan?

this is really bad for both foreign and Japanese fans. sure the tickets will be harder to get but on the other hand, you don't have to pay a fortune to get a ticket. i think that's really fair.

i was wondering what happens to those seats that will be canceled? they will be given to someone else, right? so maybe there is a chance that fans can buy the ticket at the venue from an official booth or something. or will they be given to FC members?

besides, all the concert tickets are NOT bought as a FC member. i don't know the amounts but some of the tickets are Playguide tickets which means even non-members have bought them. so don't think that it's impossible to see Arashi if you're not a FC member ^__^

anyways. think about Arashi! they will be really sad knowing that people use illegal ways to attend their concert.

Date: 2009-08-23 10:34 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] j-halo7.livejournal.com
Isn't tickets sold publicly only if there's leftover tickets? Looking at Arashi's fanclub membership and their popularity, I doubt that will ever happen.
