Hello, just a quick question :)

I just got to Japan a few days ago and yesterday I got myself a prepaid cell phone from softbank. I was looking at the methods to sign up for the jwebs, but it looks as though you need to be able to access the internet from your phone, and I don't have that capability. So my question is, is there someway to sign up like from my computer? do I need to go to a Johnny's store? am I SOL? I have unlimited mailing/texting and thats what I thought these messages were...

It's not a computer website, but one made for the special internet for cel phones. At least, that's my understanding of it.

I hope this helps!

P.S. - But if you just want to receive the "meiwaku" email messages (only), you can join the FB and then log in through a computer and put in your cel phone email address. But I guess it depends on how long you are planning to stay in Japan because the email messages are infrequent, probably more now since it's the busy time of year for Arashi.

I used the same phone when I was in Japan. You're pretty much SOL, since you cannot access the Internetz with Pre-Paid. I was sad too when I found out. :(

unfortunately the only way to get jwebs is through the internet on a japanese cell phone. No computers, no international phones.

When you sign up for jweb you get messages from them when they have a drama, album, single, etc. that is coming out, but other than that, it is an internet blog site, much like ameblo, but exclusive to the JE members.

This is how I got into it through my phone.

This page (http://www.johnnys-net.jp/j/jweb/jweb_main.html) tells you how to access the site through your phone. Easiest way is to scan the square-shaped barcode with your camera (should be a feature in your camera menu/main menu to do it - it's called a QR code.)

It's worth a try but I can't say it's too promising if you're on Softbank prepaid. Softbank are cheap but they offer jack-all.

Let me know if you get through or not.
