Arashi to Hijack NTV Network

Stars often appear all over a network for a day to promote a new movie or album, but Johnny's Jimusho idol group Arashi are to take over NTV for a whole week. The group are celebrating the 10th anniversary of their debut in November. To mark the occasion, various members of the group will appear on an estimated 50 hours of programming during a seven-day period. They'll make live appearances on the network's most popular variety and news shows and will perform their hits during a special live concert. The final dates have yet to be announced.
With the members of fellow Johnny's group SMAP now all into their 30's, Arashi have a strong hold on the teenage and young adult fan base. But although they have a string of No.1 hits, it was only with the recent release of a greatest hits album, "All the Best, 1999-2009" that they had their first million seller. The upcoming "hijacking" of the NTV network is to show that they are now established as major stars and, perhaps more than anything else, make it clear to corporate sponsors that they are the group of the moment. The five members of Arashi are Ohno Satoshi (28), Sakurai Sho (27), Aiba Masaki (26), Ninomiya Kazunari (26) and Matsumoto Jun (26).

They are definitely not those one hit wonders considering it took them years in music, variety shows, dramas and movies to diligently reach the position they are in now: their milestones and music intwined with the personal history of each and every fan. Date: 2009-09-21 08:36 am (UTC)With the ratings, it really depends on what other shows are on the same time slot. If you think about it, they will be guesting on regular shows with a following already, right?
As for overexposure, Japan seems to be one of the few countries that tolerate it. Look at Aya Ueto and Nagasawa Masami. Producers/companies get them over and over again.
Anyway, it's only one week. Arashi and its members have three NTV shows already. I doubt they will be adding any more.
But honestly, I don't think they are overexposed or even close to it. If they are, then what do you call SMAP? XDDD
They have somehow proven that they are not just style but also of substance. And the fact that people find it easy to relate to them is a HUGE plus. Let's just hope for the best because worked long and hard for it. ^_^

Date: 2009-09-21 08:47 am (UTC)i couldn't agree more ^^ i think more than anything else, they've proven(and are continuously proving) that they're more than just your average idol. though if you ask them what they think of themselves (if they consider themselves as actors or dancers or singers), they'd answer proudly, 'idols'. i guess they've taken the word 'idol' to a higher level? at least that what i think ^^

Making them so adorable to the fans. Also, enabling the fans to relate to them as well. In a way, it's like an encouragement to all, not to give up when facing adversity in life. ^_^

and showing of their natural / idiot selves is one of the major reasons why we have fallen for them.. HARD!
