In my never-ending quest to compile The Arashi FAQ to Own them All, I've been slowly adding Arashi-based questions to the FAQ whenever someone asks it.

Now I want to ask YOU; What general questions (the key word here is general, not specific) have been been bugging you of late/what questions do you see asked again and again? (Almost) no question is too stupid so don't be shy, ask away. I'll see if I can answer most of them and add them to the FAQs.

I've been wondering lately... are the members of Arashi closer with the members of TOKIO than other senpai groups?

I'm not sure if I read anything about it or just saw clips that made me question it, but it has been on my mind for a little while now. Thanks! :)

Hmm, I don't know about TOKIO specifically (other than the fact that Nagase basically gets along with everyone).
I do know that they have a special relationship with Shounentai, because Nishikiori took most of them to New York, Higashiyama is their boss for C/D/G no Arashi, and Ohno was in MA which was created to dance behind Shounentai in the Playzones...

Hey Yao, I'm sure you won't mind if I cut into some of these threads right? I'm pretty bored tonight too...

Aiba Chan is a crazy TOKIO fan... if you watch their first concert video, (Suppin Arashi) you can see that Aiba Chan sings a TOKIO song for his solo (Ai no Arashi), and in the member interviews, Aiba chan pretty much confessed that he's a "Tokio Freak," and Aiba chan supposedly calls TOKIO's Matsuoka Kun, "Matsu-ni~"

Nino did a drama, "Handoc!" with Nagase San around 2001 I think...
Also, Aiba Chan was in "Mukodono" with Nagase San.
And Sho Kun was in "Tengoku ni ichiban chikai otoko" with Mabo.

When Ohno kun was casted in the Shonentai Playzone 2001 (I think this was the year), the role he played was actually triple casted, with V6's Inocchi and Tokio's Mabo, so supposedly he went out to meals with them several times.

Also, Taichi Kun was the MC for the variety show that Takki and Arashi appeared in as co-MC and studio regulars, "USO JAPAN." on TBS.

Furthermore, TOKIO is like the most loved Senpai group by all the Jrs, and Kouhai groups, since they're supposedly all a bunch of really fun guys that are really easy going and friendly with their kouhais.

is it really true that they'e making HYD 2 and HYD movie? i just couldn't find it to believe it at first esp i dont see any pictures of CMs or anything yet. it's just intriguing me. i love HYD so much and i've been hoping that there's a season 2.
so if u could give me any answers i'd appreciate it. thanks!

I can't confirm or deny that because all they are right now are just rumors and speculation because no official places have announced it yet. Still, it makes a lot of sense because they left the dorama off at a point that invites a sequel and dramas with over 20% viewership are more likely to get sequels as well. Once it does get announced in an official place I promise you it'll be everywhere.

I wish I had normal questions. Things I want to know are probably not known unless the mag interviews reveal stuff like: When they do get annoyed/mad (and as young human males, they must) who gets the most Diva-ish/meanest? My bet's on MJ, but Sho could probably be a right dick if he gets pissed. Who is the worst at keeping things neat? Living place and personal hygiene. (As jyannis I'm sure they're groomed well, but then, Nagase is jyannis and he lets bread go bad in his fridge for a year -- and then eats it.) Who is the most impossible to wake up and get going in the morning?

See, my questions are lame and I may never know the answers.

Following pinkcakerocks's question, I'd just like to know a bit more about Arashi's relationships with both their sempai's and kohai's. (Okay, so it's not a question. :P)

Also... just exactly how popular is Arashi (and the individual members) in Japan? The internet and fandom makes it hard to gauge. I'm more interested in the individual members than the group as a whole, specifically just how large is Ohno's fanbase? The poor boy is relatively ignored by the internet masses...

The sempais and kouhai questions is pretty complicated because there are so many people in JE but I know that Ohno particularly is attatched to the members of MA and Aiba/Nino/Jun are quite good friends with Toma because they used to be in MAIN together. Usually, JE members around the same age tend to be friends with the exception of Kattun and News (I don't even know what's going on there.) Arashi and Kanjani8 have hung out together a lot. Daisempai are generally give respect but noone really hangs out with them except for again, other JE members close to their age (like shounentai and matchy). Sorry for the vague answer, but it's pretty hard to answer this question in detail.

Popularity tends to shift around a lot, but you can generally base popularity on how much TV/Movie/Stageplay (to a lesser extent) deals each of the members get. I'd probably say Ohno is the least popular in Arashi (when it was announced that he was going to be the 5th arashi member a lot of fans were dismayed). Also, you need to pay attention to single/album sales, which of course weren't that amazingly stellar this year. Arashi used to have the JE record for largest selling debut single (but kattun has taken that title away from them now), but they certainly aren't SMAP or Kinki Kids. I'd safely place them on the tier below those two JE groups. Random Japanese people still recall A.Ra.Shi but not many know of their other songs.

well personally, if it wasn't for jun matsumoto i wouldn't like watching and listening to arashi. it was just after i've watched a few episodes of d no arashi(esp right after the air band episodes) and g no arashi when i got into arashi totally.

Okay I have one. I know that there's information floating around about what kind of girl each member really likes, but I can't find it! So, how does each member describe his ideal girl? And building on yumenoko's question, I'd like to know about the members' characteristics too...but I disagree on one thing: maybe Sho COULD be a dick if he was angry, but I don't think he EVER gets really angry. To me, he always seems way cool and collected (save acting in Yoiko no Mikata :D)

hahaha, that question would take a lot of time and research to answer =P basically they ask that question to them probably one out of every 5 magazine interviews and what they've said throughout the years has changed a lot. Sho has been writing the rap parts of lyrics for a while (although he certainly didn't do it in the Ichigou days and he didn't do the rap parts for rap-intensive songs like All or Nothing).

Other than that, Arashi doesn't do much of their own writing. Ohno and Nino supposedly wrote the lyrics to Subarashiki Sekai and Nino wrote the music and lyrics to Konseki. Nino writes his own songs but he hasn't released them out yet. The Fight-o Song in GnoArashi's music was by nino and the words were written by everyone.

Not really (if you're talking about their own variety shows). D/G no Arashi are on really late at night and Mago Mago is on Sunday afternoon where most people are out/sleeping. I'd say the most popular Arashi affiliated sho is Utawara, but only Matsujun is on that and not really a full fledged Arashi show. It's different when they're in a drama but that's a drama.

This is probably a really odd question, but I've always wondered what was the deal with Aiba's scandal a while back. I hear it mentioned a lot and how it supposedly almost broke up the group, but I have no idea at all what happened.

Basically, Aiba dated this one model and I guess they didn't exactly break up on good terms. So that girl sent naked photos (you couldn't see anything) she took on her cell phone camera to Bubka and he got in big trouble because of it. But, it wasn't too bad because he didn't get suspended or anything, he just apologized and sooner or later it blew over.

Hmm.. do you know who are their favorite jpop singer/jrock artist/band/etc? i mean each member.. do u know who's their favorites?

and uhm.. how exactly Arashi become Arashi as a group.. Do they know each other before JE or they all met in JE already? and who was the first one who got into JE ( 'coz from other clips that i've seen.. i see the most are jun and aiba together.. probably when they're around 12 or 13 i think)

and where do u get these informations? sugoi! i'm so amazed!

I'm not too sure who's EACH member's absolute favorite artist. I know that ohno really looked up to michael jackson growing up and that nino really looks up to Domoto Tsuyoshi from Kinki Kids. On a summer MS he said he quite enjoyed Remioromen too.

They knew (at least knew of) each other before they became a group because everyone starts out in johnny's junior. Aiba and Nino, not jun, were together in Jrs. a lot and after a while aiba, nino jun and toma ikuta were in MAIN. After that sho got added to the group along with Takizawa Hideaki from Tackey and Tsubasa and they originally were supposed to debut as arashi. however, takki was deemed 'too popular' and was going to go solo so they stuck ohno in last minute. Ohno is naturally the first one to get into je because he's the oldest.

i read quite a few articles and I watch a lot of interviews. i'm sure you can google for arashi sites that have information on them in english.

lol first time i've heard of that nickname. if anything, he'd get a nickname like that because him, nino and jun (especially him and nino) were the more popular of the juniors before entering into arashi i guess.

Hello. I've learned quite a lot of things about the guys thanks to you and I hope you are still taking questions.

It's probably a tad too specific, and I don't think it's been really asked about alot, but I'd like to know a bit about Nino's family. In most of the articles and shows I've seen, he mostly mentions his mother and sister, but rarely his dad. The only time I've seen him mentioned was when Nino appeared on "Ai no apron" (Nino's parents learned cooking from that old guy's culinary school?) and in a magomago ep.

But I'm guessing there isn't too much info on his dad or pretty much any of the group's parents...anyway, hope you can try to answer a part of my odd question. Thanks in advance.

he doesn't mention his dad a lot because apparently his mother and father went through a not-so smooth divorce. Notice how he never cries for hardly anything (like the 24 hour tv where he was the only dry eyed one) but in Gakibara 2000 he cried over this family related vtr. I think he doesn't mention him because it's not a very pleasant memory. I don't know if he still keeps in contact with his father.

Can you elaborate more on Ohno's history, such as "why him for arashi?", why wasn't he in Tokyo, and Ohno's views on his own dancing or singing?

He's my favorite, and I cannot see Arashi becoming what it is today without him. It seems his "strangeness", and the fact that he was new to the group in the beginning helped to temper what minor relationship trouble the group had with each other: Jun gets relieved from being picked on(and making stupid comments), Nino has someone to listen to him talk, etc. These are just my observations

I don't know if you can answer these questions, but I appreciate your knowledge so much already, so thank you in advance. Also, how do you know so much about Arashi and JE? (ie, your reference to Johnny's Jr Golden Age)

LOL, to answer more on 'why him for arashi' you'd have to ask Johnny himself. Call me biased, but he was one of the best singers/dancers in juniors at the time, the right age, and not too popular. I'm assuming for the second question you're referring to his stay in Kyoto for Kyo to Kyo? It was a musical that was basically a juniors spectacular and aiba, jun and nino had bit parts in it. Even though Ohno had a pretty large role (he was yoshitsune), he still remained in kyo to kyo (it ran for quite a while) even though other people moved on and he got homesick and whatnot during it. I'm sure ohno knows that he's the best out of arashi although he won't go on and brag about it. and he sure likes dancing.

Ohno was the least popular when he was put into arashi, and he was the one who almost didn't make it in. But we're glad he's in, aren't we?

rofl, i guess there really aren't any because everyone assumes everyone who likes them has all the basics. i'd say just be patient and tough it out like the rest of us and just slowly add things to your collection as they pop up here and on the other arashi communities.

i guess you should join this community (my comod [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] posts a lot of members only locked files, and you should also join [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] for media. Someone posted a big collection of mp3s of theirs a long time ago, but i'm too lazy to keep up the memories just yet :P

Maybe it would be good to have a FAQ entry that sort of gives a brief run-down on whats generally known about their families? Like how many siblings they have and other random facts of interest. Those kind of questions seem to pop up a lot at forums/lj coms. The only other thing I can think of is an explaination of their TV shows (if its not already in there). I get asked by people a lot what the difference is between all the various (insert letter here) no arashi shows are XD
