I just randomly searched Arashi on Google just now and found this English article dated 30 October 2009
How are you enjoying Arashi Challenge Week? The five-man pop group stormed onto the Japanese entertainment scene 10 years ago this autumn with a much-publicized Hawaiian debut. They have been steadily moving up the celebrity ladder ever since.
Arashi's versatile members--Satoshi Ono, Masaki Aiba, Jun Matsumoto, Kazunari Ninomiya and Sho Sakurai--have starred in numerous successful films and TV dramas, while Sakurai also works as a News Zero (NTV, 10:54 p.m.) newscaster. Should SMAP ever cede its entertainment world supremacy, Arashi appears the most likely Johnny's talent agency heir to the throne. ( D: Don't say that. Too much pressure )
To celebrate their 10th anniversary, Arashi is undertaking the challenge of appearing (as a group or individually) on over 50 hours of NTV television in one week. That's impressive, but it doesn't sound like an extreme challenge. Aren't all those Johnny's groups on air 12 hours a day? It sure seems like it but perhaps that's all just an illusion like some of the tricks Arashi will try on their live Nov. 1, three-hour Challenge Week finale special, 7-9:54 p.m.
Duck! They're promising a 3-D experience that feels like the lads are jumping right out of the TV set at you. That is, if you have special 3-D glasses for the occasion. Find details on how to make them at www.ntv.co.jp/arashi-w/. The biggest event of the night will be the fivesome crooning from a floating stage, a helium-filled balloon that actually takes flight. The week's festivities began Oct. 25, but today is their big day. They'll be spinning about the screen for almost 18 hours from Zoom In Super at 6:30 a.m. straight through to the late-night News Zero."
Are you guys enjoying Arashi Challenge Week so far?
It seems not as hectic as I thought it would be since most of it was prerecorded. My favourite moments are Nepleague with Sho & Nino, yesterday Gurunai and seeing Arashi reacting awkwardly being treated like VIPs XD (I'm still not used to the idea that they are popular in Japan XD.. and sorry about the personal comment I made in the article ^^;;;).
