Sounds too good to be true?
Nov. 4th, 2009 04:05 amI currently have the All the BEST! CLIPS 1999-2009 DVD bought from YesAsia...
However I was on Ebay and noticed that a seller also sells the DVD but at an insanely reduced fee (less than 20$ CDN!! vs. the 60$ CDN!!) AND it's also a 0 region code (region free vs. region 2)
Is it too good to be true? I had an incident where I bought the 0 region code of the Arashi TIME DVD concert and the image was so horrible and pixilated...
And I personally do not a repeat incident...
Is there anyone whom has already purchased the DVD from that Ebay user? (Yes I know the seller has positive feedback, but then again so did the seller who sold me the TIME DVD)
And I don't want a bootleg! >___<;;
I love Arashi enough to spend my hard earned cash! <3

Date: 2009-11-04 03:48 pm (UTC)if there's a fans that cant afford to buy the original japan version or other version (korea or HK that much cheaper), then its better to go download from the internet, coz there are so many fans that sharing arashi files.
So, although the seller has a good reputation, buy piracy is not wise decision if we consider ourself as a real fans.

Date: 2009-11-04 10:23 pm (UTC)Also, awhile ago I stupidly bought a cheap version of the 2006 AAA DVD on eBay (even though the seller had positive feedback), and yes, it was a crappy copy with the 2 discs crammed into 1 disc.

Date: 2009-11-05 01:02 am (UTC)If you've got the DVD already there are a few things you can do:
1) Look for a region free DVD player - they won't advertise that they're region free but a lot of cheaper DVD players will be anyway.
2) Type your DVD make and code into google along with something like "region unlock" - there are a lot of unlock codes you can type on your DVD remote out there so your normal DVD players will play any region.
3) Rip the DVD to your comp - there are programs that should allow you to do this even if your DVD drive is a different region
4) Make your own DVD out of the files you've downloaded/ripped.
There are so many ways you can avoid paying pirates. *hugs* Good luck!

Date: 2009-11-05 01:11 am (UTC)So having positive feedback doesn't necessarily mean the the items are legit... *understands so much more now* It just means that they're "dependable" sellers right?
I agree that they should abolish the region codes, but it's more so that when the DVDs are sold in one region, another region won't get it right away...
Which is stupid really!!
Would you happen to know a good program that I can use to rip the DVD? I can't even play the DVD on my PC drive since I'm from Canada... Which is sadly region one and the Arashi DVD is region two. I bought it because it was Arashi and because I wanted to have my own copy despite not being able to play it (TT__TT)

Date: 2009-11-05 01:32 am (UTC)PS Region coding worked back when technology couldn't pull DVDs to pieces. Now it's useless and doesn't protect DVDs anyway. Another problem, if I buy a perfectly legit DVD when I'm in Japan, why can't I play it when I go to Australia? It's bullshit. *hugs*

Date: 2009-11-05 01:41 am (UTC)I totally agree with you on that! I mean if you buy a legal copy... And you can't play it in another country (TT______TT)
I have plans on going to Japan, but I'm skeptical about buying any of the DVDs...

Date: 2009-11-05 02:03 am (UTC)DVDshrink (http://www.dvdshrink.org/) - (Windows) Lets you rip your discs and back them up (region-free style)
DVD Decrypter (http://www.dvddecrypter.org.uk/) - (Windows) Pulls the files straight off the disc (I used to use this one a lot on my Windows machine)
MacTheRipper (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/14414) - (Mac) Pulls the files straight off your disc ready to burn onto your own, region free DVD
Handbrake (http://handbrake.fr/) - Let's you rip your DVD files into nice avi and mp4 files. (But I've had a little difficulty with region codes with this one. I advise using one of the above programs first then changing those files into what you want with this.)
Hope this helps!

Date: 2009-11-05 12:07 pm (UTC)Alternatively, google the model/make of your DVD player and see if you can find a way to unlock the region restriction.
Both of the above worked for me, so hopefully it'll help you play your Arashi DVD too!

Date: 2009-11-05 04:23 pm (UTC)I heard many other people saying that you can play it on VLC player, but it doesn't seem to work on my PC.

Date: 2009-11-08 07:29 am (UTC)Besides, i have a region-free DVD player at home so if i want to play non-Arashi DVDs which aren't Region 2, i can always use that player.
