Date: 2009-11-10 08:58 pm (UTC)Jhonghua (or Chunghwa) Road is the main road that borders it, and if she takes the MRT is where she will probably get off (Simen or Ximen station). There is an (unofficial) Johnnys Shop (http://pics.livejournal.com/inuhariko/pic/0014phxe) right there at the train station. You will just walk by if you don't know it's there. btw, THIS (http://pics.livejournal.com/inuhariko/pic/0014qgec) is what the building that houses the Johnny Shop looks like. Really unique building. Can't miss it. (Also note the Subway sandwich shop there too. ^^) Once in the building, hang a right, go upstairs. There should be signs. (1) (http://pics.livejournal.com/inuhariko/pic/0014trxd) (2) (http://pics.livejournal.com/inuhariko/pic/0014wwt7). At top of the stairs, there may be other shops with Johnny stuff in the window trying to lure you in. This is a trap! You have to go around the corner, past the
yaoimanga bookstore to get to the real Johnnys Shop (http://pics.livejournal.com/inuhariko/pic/0014xez3).This is a great shop for photos, pamphlets, and collectibles. It's only open for a few hours in the afternoon (to cater to schoolgirls, I'm sure) and it's tiny and tends to be packed with said schoolgirls. A Johnny shop might be a bit intimidating to a nonfan (like your aunt?) But if she's willing and, you know, you tell her what you want, i.e, a few shop pics of [insert member here], she can probably just tell the owner/clerk and they'll whip out an album that you can just select a few pics from.
Okay, 95 Music. I wasn't really impressed with it. Their selection was limited and they seemed overpriced. There are some magazines I think, music, and some collectibles. It's a little tricky too. I marked it on the map, but I don't know the name of the road. However, the Wonstar Hotel (http://pics.livejournal.com/inuhariko/pic/0014s038) is right on the corner to that road, and you can't miss it. You go down that road a very short ways, and to the left is a motorcycle parking area and just beyond that is 95 MUSIC (http://pics.livejournal.com/inuhariko/pic/0014r0q9). It's kind of in a little back alley place and the sign is so tiny but just look for the motorcycles!
Japanese Magazine Store. I do not remember the name of it. I think it may be on Wuchang Street though (I marked it on the map). I stayed at the Wonstar Hotel when I was there and I remember the magazine place was superclose because we loaded up on mags and took them straight back to the hotel. It wasn't far. I wish I could be of more help on that one, but maybe somebody else can help there.
THIS (http://pics.livejournal.com/inuhariko/gallery/0006zark) is my Ximending gallery with all the pics I just linked above.
Hope that helps!

Date: 2009-11-12 04:54 am (UTC)There are a bunch of unofficial idol shops around Ximending too, like the poster below mentioned, but I didn't note where any of these were. Just look for the pretty boys.
Have fun and enjoy the V6 show!

Date: 2009-11-11 01:45 am (UTC)But I did find a few "idol shops" which sell non-offical pictures/posters/stickers and whatnot for dirt-cheap but low quality. I didn't mind though. Love my Arashi keychains!
But I think most people on the streets would know where 95 and the Japanese magazine store (雜誌瘋 http://www.magfreak.com.tw/p1-store.asp) is...so you could ask your aunt to ask around if she gets lost.
95 music (http://www.95music.com/index.jsp) has a pretty good Japanese Korean selection in my opinion..well, compared to the average CD stores in Taipei. The Taiwanese versions are slightly cheaper than the ones in regular stores but not sure about the Japanese versions.
They only have like 1 copy of each magazine issue but most of them seem cheaper than in the magazine store (except when they're on sale).
And you can always ask your aunt to call the phone number on their websites to ask for directions or just ask about what they have.
