Hi all, Got a few questions (again) haha!

1.What does it mean when people say they are ARASHI sedai (嵐世代)?

2.As from the latest My Girl PV making we are able to see Arashi using their keitai.
   I know nobody would know the correct answer but still want to ask :D
   Are those Arashi's personal keitai?
   Because they are some times where i see them use their staff keitai instead of their own.
   Because if it is really their own personal keitai, it is really cool.
   
   And i would like to know the models :D 
   As Arashi is doing CMs for AU KDDI, does that mean their keitais are all from that company?

I'm pretty sure those are their phones. They only use the staff's phones for work-related stuff. Although they're shooting a PV, they're like "resting" at the moment so they're using their own. Why would Jun call Aiba just for fun using other people's phone? ;p

I want to know the models too. ^^

I think their phones are from AU. I read an article before that Sho was still learning the functions of his new phone and that after they released the AU phones last Autumn 2008.

I don't know about the sedai thingie though. XD

Nino has the Sony Ericsson Cyber-shot Keitai S001 that came out in spring 2009 in Olive x Gold
MatsuJun has this season's thin (usui) phone, the SA001 in innocent blue
Ohno and Aiba both have black phones, but i'm not sure what they are....

When they say it's "Arashi sedai" right now (sedai meaning generation as explained above) they basically mean that right now it's Arashi's time to shine!

Basically Arashi is right now THE most popular idol group in Japan (even more than SMAP at the moment) so we've just entered a time where Arashi is basically what generates the most profits in some sort.


As for their cell phones, yes they ARE phone from AU KDDI. It would be extremely weird for a spokesperson NOT to do that. Even SMAP changed all their phones to Softbank right now since they have become spokesperson for it.

Unlike everyone else, I don't think those are Arashi's personal phones... mainly because isn't Aiba's phone supposed to be BRIGHT PINK?
Or has he changed it? :l I haven't listened to Recomen in a month or so, but he used to mention how his phone was bright pink....

maybe he had the toshiba phone the boys were promoting under AU last year... and this is a recent change? Ohno had A LOT of keitai straps on his phone! but it really could be ANYTHING. A publicity stunt would make a lot of sense, too!

I'm confused by the sentence wording. Do you mean people say the time right now is Arashi sedai, or that people describe themselves as Arashi sedai?

If it's the latter, maybe that refers to a generation of Arashi fans (vs. SMAP, V6, etc.)? Or, fans in the "right age group" (teens, 20s) when Arashi debuted?

I believe it probably means the latter, and I also believe it just means people in their 20s. But yes, I think more context would help.

I am on the side of the unconvinced, since I saw Matsujun using the same phone during the PV.
Also, I am under the impression the guys are careful not to promote any products unless it's purely for the purpose of promotion (so in this case the AU phones). They're very careful about hiding the brand names of their personal belongings.
(And well for a more ridiculous fangirl reason, I refuse to believe Ohno has that many phone straps...grr).

i think it's their own phones. yeah i remember aiba-kun said he had a bright pink one! so he must have changed it recently yea? and matsujun said his was greenish-blue so i think that's the one we see in the making!

and i think the sedai as said by others basically means generation or world. so i think it refers to the time period now. like 'arashi's era' kinda thing, where they are like at the peak of their career?

I don't think you're going to get a definite answer, because no one knows for sure.

Personally I think they have different sets of phones for their personal life and for work, but seriously, who knowssss. :) Not much of a big deal.

Sedai means generation so....

"I consider myself from the Arashi generation." Is what it means when I phrase it in English. What it means is that I'm of their age group which is the twenties.

It's different to say the News/Kat-Tun generation which is the teens generation, or the older generation like Smap/Tokio. It's how Johnny's fans date themselves, I think.

Some avid fans also use this phrase to describe themselves regardless of their age since they might've been following them since their debut, but I think that is a bit of a stretch.

There's nothing wrong with asking questions, especially seeing as how the community has an entire tag labeled "other: questions." -___-
And she is contributing to the fandom: she's spreading knowledge about Arashi. A lot of these comments are helpful - hell, I didn't know what "Arashi sedai" meant either, but now I do, thanks to her question. It's definitely contribution.

If they are Arashi sedai, or Arashi generation, I think that they are 'of the time that Arashi is active' because in Utaban, there was a girl who said that she was of the Arashi Era because she danced A.RA.SHI for a school production. :D

Thanks for posting a great question. You see, I love Japan keitai (yeah right, this is a free world. XD) so seeing a question like this excites me.

I love reading the replies too(and the fights, LOL.). thanks for sharing your answers, at least, yeah, it gives me some idea more about "personal" things of Arashi. (yeah, I'm still new in the fandom, haha!)

I checked out the phone, the one Nino is holding. It's good. For me. Because yeah, I don't like bringing around cameras, so having an 8.1MP camera cellphone is so good for me. xD

But I just wanna share my view... I believe that Arashi receives incentives, other than being paid for endorsing it, from AU. They may have received cellphone units from the company too. It's something like that, I think.

but it's funny that those who wish to say rude comments choose to stay anonymous...

as for the using of Japanese languange, perhaps it will create difficulties for some people who are not japanese...but at some point you can learn the meaning of the word...

maybe next time you should just put the meaning inside () and then we won't get any protest here! :)
about what i say before, yeah i know it's not really a rule...but just to be careful so there won't be any protest here i've only use english ^^
