Hi everyone!

I've been downloading some ARASHI videos lately from various communities and lately they've all been corrupt when I try to watch them... I was wondering if anyone else was having the same problem. I'm using a mac computer (haven't upgraded to Snowleopard yet) and I usually download from the megaupload links that are posted. Hopefully its not my computer... thank you guys!

Sugi

Edit: Thank you guys for all the replies! Here is some more info on my problem. The first picture shows the message finder gives me when I try to transport the files to a flash stick. The second is what happens in VLC player when I reach a point in the video where it freezes. Basically, the same thing happens in quicktime except a message doesn't pop up and quicktime usually just shuts off. Thank you all for trying to help me! I might just have to redownload the files... one at a time... which stinks b/c I'm in med school and have no time as it is... :(

I'm a mac user as well, but I'm not having problems with any of the videos I have downloaded so far.

Exactly what happens when you try to open a video?
Are you by chance downloading split files and trying to watch them without joining them first? (i.e. files that end in .001, .002, .003, etc.)
I'm a Mac user as well, and haven't had any problems~

Wow, that's strange because I actually had the exact same thing happening a couple of months ago. I would try to play videos, and it would be laggy, glitchy, then eventually freeze, freeze my entire computer, and then when I tried to restart, sometimes it would and other times it wouldn't go past the gray/blue screen in the beginning of start up. Then when I tried to move the files to my external hard drive, either it would transfer only half of it, or it just wouldn't transfer at all. If this sounds like your problem, I advise that you take your Mac in to Apple, it might be a software problem like mine was. They first thought there was something wrong with the hard drive or motherboard, and when they tried to re-install Leopard or whatever I had, the installation wouldn't follow through. They had to take my computer in and do some repairs, but it's nothing major as your hard drive and motherboard stays untouched.

I also saw in a comment below mine that you said error -36 would show up when you try transferring- and sorry to say but that's exactly what would happen when I tried moving my files to my external HD :/

^^; I'm guessing that you're not under warranty anymore? When I had to get my computer fixed, it was free because of the warranty. Anyway, it doesn't seem like you're having the "computer not restarting" problem though so it may be something else~ And I think what I mean is it was the operating system- like Leopard, or the new Snow Leopard.

Hmm. I'm not a Mac user, but I do have one suggestion. Have you tried adding the file extension? (Like .avi or .mpeg) I can't imagine that all the files would be corrupt. I hope that it isn't your computer also!
Good luck and sorry I wasn't able to help more!!

I can see that someone else has already asked, but we'll be able to help you better if you could provide a little more information about the problem you're having, so please do and I'll try to help as well :)

For instance, are you getting an error message that says a certain file is corrupt (and if so maybe screencap it)? Is it the same error message for every file? What kind of files are you experiencing difficulties with? Etc.

Hmm all right, I apologize in advance for not being able to help you as I am not familiar with Macs at all D:

I looked up the error code though, maybe that page can help you? Here (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1564)? Again, sorry I couldn't be of more assistance :( Good luck though, I hope someone else can help you!^^

lol i see your problem. i used to have the same one. if you're not a premium member of megaupload, then you can only download one file at a time. if you try to download more, it'll just give you some blank file so when you join the parts, it won't work. or if you're downloading multiple single file videos, one of them probably won't work neither.

so when you download it, just wait til your download is finished until you start a new download. hope that helps!

haha you're welcome :]
so I hope your videos go well..
maybe it's just the codec or something.

Also, it would be better to always check if the size of the downloaded file is the same with what was mentioned on the site. Some downloads usually stops halfway even before the whole file finishes... probably because of intermittent connection. So, better to use a download manager or to download one at a time.

I have a big problem!!

When i download it from mediafire, it says "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file."
When i download it from megaupload it says"download limit exceeded, Your IP address 220.255.7.102 is currently downloading a 314057896 byte RMVB file."

anyone can help?? :DD

What version of WMP do you have?
The latest version can play almost all the files: if you don't have it, then download it from the Microsoft site.
If you do have it and it still doesn't work, try with another player, like RealPlayer or VLC player.

When i download it from megaupload it says"download limit exceeded, Your IP address 220.255.7.102 is currently downloading a 314057896 byte RMVB file."
MU allows you to download a limited amount of files every 24 hrs (idk about it exactly, it should be something like 2 GB or something in total).
So you just have to wait, unless you don't want to upgrade to a Premium Account (meaning you have to pay): that way you can download as many files as you want with no problems every day

If you have questions or still have problems, let me know
(I'm pretty used to deal with MF and MU)

Hi, mac user here ^^

What software are you playing the files in? I used to have a similar problem with my quicktime (it wouldn't play some of my files, or would jump around, or not play the sound just the image, or just the image and not the sound - is that like your problem?) - you can try playing them in VLC or download a codec like Perian for your quicktime so that it can play all types of files.

I'm a PC user, but have you tried using a different player? I just downloaded an Arashi video that I couldn't play on Winamp (a first) because the picture was going diagonally, but it played fine on Windows Media Player. That hasn't occurred before.

Sometimes it might get corrupt as the whole file might not have been fully downloaded I guess?
It happened to me before, so what I had to do was redownload the file again T_T

what problems are you having?

I recently downloaded a seemingly corrupted video file from a trusted website too.. this ONE avi file kept freezing my entire computer whenever I tried to open it or do ANYTHING with it, even when moving it to a flash drive. I didn't feel safe with the file so I had to delete it :/ If you're having similar problems, you should probably get rid of the files too..

I'm not sure if it's the same problem you face, but sometimes files that won't play on windows media player will work on vlc player, so maybe you can try that before you delete the file. :)

About the Megauploader, it also happens to me, where it goes "download limit exceeded, Your IP address 220.255.7.102 is currently downloading a 314057896 byte RMVB file." I wonder if anyone could help me on that too. x)

And, i hope this helps, instead of VLC, you could also try using Storm Player. It's really reliable, and i've managed to play every single video i have ever dled on this player. BUT there's a catch, it's a Chinese software. So those who don't understand chinese might have to guess around a bit; like what i had to do in the beginning. Or you can get a chinese friend to help you change the language. Just google storm player, i think you should be able to find it. :D

I can try to help you with MegaUpload :)

They have a lot of regulations as to the amount of data that can be transferred by any single IP address at a time, as well as by area, I believe. So depending on how much traffic MU receives from your area, you won't be able to download as much unfortunately :(

Can you download at all? Because if not, it could be a different problem. Let me know and I'll try to help you if I can 8)

Oh but one more thing. MU doesn't allow parallel downloads (the option of downloading more than one file at a time). You will receive the error message you mentioned if you try to do that without an account or with a free one.

From: [identity profile] bonemistress.livejournal.com
Yeah, i do know about the parallel downloads thing. In fact, i used to be able to dl from MU. But, now i can't dl at all and i get that annoying error message instead. SOBS. T.T

Hmm i went and checked it out and googled storm player. And i think it's changed to splayer now. Since i dled storm player quite some times back, i think it's all updated now. hehehe. But even if you google storm player, you should get linked to splayer.

I've been having a similar problem. Everytime I download a file I get a codec missing message. I've already checked all that I have all the codecs.
The missing codec is 002 but I can't find it any where.
