Corrupt Video Files
Nov. 17th, 2009 10:04 pmHi everyone!
I've been downloading some ARASHI videos lately from various communities and lately they've all been corrupt when I try to watch them... I was wondering if anyone else was having the same problem. I'm using a mac computer (haven't upgraded to Snowleopard yet) and I usually download from the megaupload links that are posted. Hopefully its not my computer... thank you guys!

Edit: Thank you guys for all the replies! Here is some more info on my problem. The first picture shows the message finder gives me when I try to transport the files to a flash stick. The second is what happens in VLC player when I reach a point in the video where it freezes. Basically, the same thing happens in quicktime except a message doesn't pop up and quicktime usually just shuts off. Thank you all for trying to help me! I might just have to redownload the files... one at a time... which stinks b/c I'm in med school and have no time as it is... :(

Date: 2009-11-18 03:21 am (UTC)Are you by chance downloading split files and trying to watch them without joining them first? (i.e. files that end in .001, .002, .003, etc.)
I'm a Mac user as well, and haven't had any problems~

Date: 2009-11-18 03:27 am (UTC)For instance, are you getting an error message that says a certain file is corrupt (and if so maybe screencap it)? Is it the same error message for every file? What kind of files are you experiencing difficulties with? Etc.

Date: 2009-11-18 05:43 pm (UTC)What version of WMP do you have?
The latest version can play almost all the files: if you don't have it, then download it from the Microsoft site.
If you do have it and it still doesn't work, try with another player, like RealPlayer or VLC player.
When i download it from megaupload it says"download limit exceeded, Your IP address 220.255.7.102 is currently downloading a 314057896 byte RMVB file."
MU allows you to download a limited amount of files every 24 hrs (idk about it exactly, it should be something like 2 GB or something in total).
So you just have to wait, unless you don't want to upgrade to a Premium Account (meaning you have to pay): that way you can download as many files as you want with no problems every day
If you have questions or still have problems, let me know
(I'm pretty used to deal with MF and MU)

Date: 2009-11-18 07:57 am (UTC)What software are you playing the files in? I used to have a similar problem with my quicktime (it wouldn't play some of my files, or would jump around, or not play the sound just the image, or just the image and not the sound - is that like your problem?) - you can try playing them in VLC or download a codec like Perian for your quicktime so that it can play all types of files.

Date: 2009-11-18 03:44 pm (UTC)And, i hope this helps, instead of VLC, you could also try using Storm Player. It's really reliable, and i've managed to play every single video i have ever dled on this player. BUT there's a catch, it's a Chinese software. So those who don't understand chinese might have to guess around a bit; like what i had to do in the beginning. Or you can get a chinese friend to help you change the language. Just google storm player, i think you should be able to find it. :D

Date: 2009-11-19 01:15 am (UTC)They have a lot of regulations as to the amount of data that can be transferred by any single IP address at a time, as well as by area, I believe. So depending on how much traffic MU receives from your area, you won't be able to download as much unfortunately :(
Can you download at all? Because if not, it could be a different problem. Let me know and I'll try to help you if I can 8)
Oh but one more thing. MU doesn't allow parallel downloads (the option of downloading more than one file at a time). You will receive the error message you mentioned if you try to do that without an account or with a free one.
