Don't be alarmed-- it's still me, ames_909, just under a new username. :)
Before I start, I would like to thank all the people who participated in this contest. There were 131 entries in total, and even a couple others who didn't actually want be part of the contest and simply wanted to talk about why they love Arashi! Each and every single entry was sweet and touching in its own way, and I really wish everyone could read them too. I know though that I had promised no one else will see them, so maybe if you're fine with sharing your entry with other people, you can repost it here on this post in a comment?
And now, the moment you've all been waiting for:
Winners to the
If your name was listed above, please PM me as soon as possible with your mailing address and any other details you think I may need. (Please do note that since it's holidays season, you may not receive your prizes within the usual time span!)
Once again, a huge thank you to everyone who took the time to enter this contest and talk about what it is you love so much about Arashi! ♥ If I could (if I win the lottery?), I would send a little something to every single person who took part in the contest, but alas. :( Maybe I'll hold another contest like this again someday?

Date: 2009-12-13 08:53 pm (UTC)Arashi is just an astoundingly magical group. What I like about them is that they have such a strong bond with each other and with their fans as well. They can be absolutely hilarious and absolutely seductive. Absolutely silly to absolutely cool. I find their wide range of abilities and actions interesting and entertaining. I love that they can do a variety of things and they do the most interesting things and experiments. I believe that they are a group that I can be proud of, a group that can make me happy, a group that can make me think, a group that I can love. As someone has mentioned, it’s really awesome how each member has their own niche and there isn’t just one member that steals all the spotlight and I love all of them! I like how they are just normal guys who aren’t show-offs all the time (well…maybe sometimes MatsuJun, but it’s all good ^^) and they just seem to have fun and love what they do. They don't always have to have the most beautiful voices or the coolest dances, they are best when they are themselves and together. They really care about the fans, and I love being the 6th member of Arashi! XD

Participating in the contest was fun in itself!
And, and... I also hope to read what this lovely fandom wrote about our favorite boys <3
++I'd like to share mine as well <3++
Date: 2009-12-13 09:04 pm (UTC)Their honesty, humility and optimism makes them more human (or real), and not just a packaged boy band. Hence, a lot of people, including myself, can relate to them.
And even though they are a solid group that values compassion and friendship, among other things, each member of Arashi was able to develop his own identity by pursuing his own field of interest. This allows them to relate to an even wider range of people—such as those who are also in the same field. More so, they also get to influence other people to try and enhance/pursue their talent/interest. In doing this, I think they truly have become idols: people who can encourage or inspire others. And that makes me proud to be their fan :)

Date: 2009-12-13 09:01 pm (UTC)And if anyone doesn't mind me sharing either, here's my story. >w<
What I like about Arashi? Everything! Seriously, even their imperfections are perfect to me. XD But on a serious note, I love them for being true to themselves and showing their true selves on tv. Arashi has seriously helped me out in life in more ways then possible for a celebrity. Throughout the almost three years I've known them, I've realized that I'm a happier person then before. It's not like I was depressed all the time before, but I can smile a true smile from my heart now. Back then I didn't really know what kind of person I was. I was still trying to "find myself". I can clearly remember when people would ask me simple questions like "Who's your favorite artist?" or "What's your favorite movie?" I never had a solid answer. So I always responded with what or who was "in". I just went with the trend, the mainstream choice. I always hesitated when answering those questions and always worried about what others would think if I chose something different. And that's when Arashi came along. As I started becoming their fan I realized what kind of person I am. What kind of movies I like and what kind of artists I enjoy. Arashi helped me in discovering the real me. And I really cherish the part of me that's able to be more open with having different tastes from most people. I love how Arashi can make a huge different in people's lives. That's why I'm not only madly in love with them, but I admire and look up to them. If people were to ask me who my hero was, it would definitely be Arashi. Through the chaos that happens in life and when you feel like everything is against you, Arashi does come to the rescue. Arashi does the little things that can make a huge difference. With that, Arashi can even make each of us fans feel special. I'm sure each fan can feel the real love that Arashi pours into us. So with each smile Arashi brings out on tv and through photoshoots comes the encouragement I need to continue each day with the best of my abilities.

by the way, i would like to share in here my entry :)
For me, there are various reasons why I like Arashi. But if i think of it one by one, I think I like them because they are simply ARASHI. A group of Johnny's where members at first wanted to quit, gets debut surprisingly, always together in ups and downs of their fame, very truthful to one another, appreciates and understands everyone's attitude, always being united and giving happiness and storm to the world. Even in the real world, it's hard to find these kind of people. And as what the members said, "Minna to deate yokatta". Yes I feel the same way, I'm also glad that I've met them. They might not know but Arashi totally changed my life and gave me inspiration in living in the world of hardship everyday. I often listen to their songs and especially before my exams, I'm chanting like "please let me have high grades" with their songs like "Fight Song", "Sakura Sake" "Kitto Daijyoubu" and "A.RA.SHI". And luckily, I even got a partial scholarship last semester! Though there were some support too by other people, Arashi played a big role for me. And as a prize for myself, I bought a Popolo magazine with a big picture of them in the front cover. And having this kind of achievement really gives you confidence in doing different things. Also because of Arashi, my vocabulary and writing skills in Japanese improved! Before, I used to stay away from Kanji, but now I just try to learn those voluntarily. They really are one heck of a storm that doesn't go away from you anymore. Arashi just reminds me our different values to live life. Laugh, Cry, Get Angry, and Love. Whenever I feel bad, I just watch some of their variety shows like Himitsu no Arashi-chan, and it's all like my problem is over and I just laugh with them. And when it comes to crying, touching scenes like from 24hr tv, Pikanchi movies, and their dramas, it just makes me cry literally from the bottom of my heart. Because I can feel their purity & sincerity from the tears that they shed. And when they like get angry, (big emphasis on our DoS king Matsujun! LOL) I don't get irritated at all, as much as the members. We just understand him :) But sometimes their conflicts are comedic too HAHA XD
I've been in the Arashi fandom for 3 years and I'm on my way to my 4th year next April. Though i admit that I once tried to move to other JE groups, I just can't LOVE them. Yes I might have like them, but not love them. I really tend to come back for my one and first-ever group that I discovered, Arashi. Watching them act in dramas was enjoying. Listening to their songs was inspiring. Watching them dance was fascinating. And watching them grow years by years is simply heart-warming. They might be a bunch of baka boys with unique attitudes, but I love them as who they are. Thank you really for all these years. I want to enjoy, inspire and fascinate more by these good-looking bakas. As the 6th member. I will always be there to support them. This year is the 10th, let's go for 11th! Reaching success and goal is an unending process, so I wish them their best and I will always love them. ♥

Date: 2009-12-13 10:25 pm (UTC)anyway, like to share my entry too:
I mostly like in Arashi them being funny. Every-time I see a verity show with them appearing on it, I can't help but laughing. In addition, I also think they are great actors. Some of them are better actors than the others, but I think that depends on the role they act. For example, I don't think nino and Jun are the best comedian actors, like Aiba or Sho or Ohno, that can make a joke from any line or Japanese phrase. I also like most of Arashi's songs. The songs I like, like "Fight Song" or "Thank You For My Days" or "We Can Make It" and such, has very strong words. I listen to Arashi's songs every time I get upset for some reasons. I even sent translation of some of these songs to my sister when she was hospitalized, to encourage her like it always encourages me. I also like how they treat each other. You can see they are the best friends, who can laugh on each other but also respect each other a lot. I wish I also had friends like this. This kind of relations is what you call "group-work", and I think this is one of their best sides as a group – them being best friends.
On the whole, I think Arashi are great musicians, actors and dencers, and I think Arashi are the best!

Date: 2009-12-13 10:57 pm (UTC)Even if I'm slightly dissapointed, yet I feel soo satisfied! I feel as if my participation in the competitin itself was a prize! Now I love these people who I know so much of,
and yet they don't even know I exist(-_-") even more~Thought I'd share my entry.
Entry No. GodKnowsHowMuch out of 131 (!)
I may be considered a newbie in the Arashi fan world (2008, to be exact), but I am truly thankful to be part of it. Truth be told, I was one of those people who would never give a hoot about anything Asian- related, even if I am one myself. It’s not that I screw my face in disgust every time anything Asian comes into the topic, but since the world has always been focusing on Western countries in terms of technology, education and entertainment, I just go with the flow, I guess.
Then it all began with Hana Yori Dango ~ ♥ (I was introduced to it through my drama-crazy sister, currently in her third year Med course XD) Of course, like any other sane person would, I fell in love with the drama series. Being ‘Domyouji-baited’, I tracked this five-member group called ‘Storm’ and thus, became seriously in love with all of them. :)
I’ve tried stalking other J-Pop artists such as NEWS, and I still can’t seem to love them as much as I love Arashi. I thought, ‘Hey, maybe it’s because they are such teenagers that I adore them,’—then I tried getting into HSJ and NYC boys~ They just couldn’t surpass the fivesome that make Arashi.
Looking back, I think I know why I love these people so much~ It’s really the small things, things that most people don’t bother to realise, that exist in the members of the group… Love. I don’t mean it in a romantic way, of course; but rather love in so many different aspects~
They love what they do; they put so much feeling and dedication into their work. They embrace new things, yet remain intact amongst themselves as a group. They know that the group itself is what keeps everyone together, and they’ve only got each other to thank for that~ ♥
They love the support that fans all around the world provide for them, and you can definitely see it through short and sweet messages they convey through concerts, interviews – be it personally or as a group. Simple, yet you know that these people cherish their fans more than anything else. :)
They love each other. Some anti- Arashis would probably yap away in disgust over how incredibly superb they would put their acts on- screen, all brotherly-like and such. Well, answer this: how can five people who ‘in real life can’t stand each other’ go through ten years without ever killing each other in the end? They make up one happy family, even if they have their own things that they need to do. In the end, it’s Arashi all the way~ :)
Hoping to make it last always,

Date: 2009-12-13 11:35 pm (UTC)Was a wonderful thing that you did!!
Date: 2009-12-14 12:23 am (UTC)I love ARASHI because they worked so hard to get to this point now. They took 8 years to do a concert at Tokyo Dome. Most of the Johnny’s group (NEW, Kanjani8, KAT-TUN, and Hey! Say! JUMP) did not take so many years to do a concert there. ARASHI did not give up on! All of the members wished for the same goal. They don’t fight, they get along, they work hard, and they do everyone to keep their fans close to them. Even one is down, they don’t let them be. They help one another. I have never seen a group like them! ARASHI has reached their hands out to fans as much as possible. At first, I didn’t care for ARASHI but as soon I found out about their relationship with fans and with their own members, I fell in love with ARASHI!! Their feelings touch our fans hearts and no matter what, ARASHI fans have their favorite members but also love everyone else in ARASHI. Their songs are always wonderful and it will never fail to get to our hearts. The most thing I just love is their love to us fans!! Even at concerts, MatsuJun shouldn’t get off the stage (since it is very dangerous), but he wants to give love to fans so he stands off the stage for the fans. He doesn’t care if he gets hurt; all he cares about is giving love to ARASHI fans!! Their loves is the best love I have gotten in my whole life!! I will stay with ARASHI forever!!

Date: 2009-12-14 04:41 am (UTC)What you like about Arashi???
My answer: Everything
Why are you asking that..??? Is there anything that you DON’T like ??
Well for me..the reason for liking them is simple. They are DIFFERENT. They’re different from any other groups, or astists that I know. They are great as Arashi and they are great as an individual too.
I was a Jun-bait and I know him through Hanadan. At first, I just want to know more about Jun, what group is he belong to, what dramas is he starred in and lots of other stuff JUST about Jun. I’ve been like this for other goups that I like before Arashi (like F4 where I just focus on Jerry only).
But in Arashi, well I admit that at first it is only about Matsujun, but now I LOVE Arashi as Arashi. I love them when they are together, and I love them as an individual too. They are such a close-knit and the bond between them is so strong.
Maybe at first, I was able to rank Arashi from my ichiban to my least favorite, but now I can’t. They are all my Ichiban, although Jun is quite leading..But..well just leave it there..
Who doesn’t love Ohno, riida who lead by not leading, Sho the caster who can be cho-kakkoi but goofy and an air-head at the same time, Aiba, the innocent Baka who keeps crying while making promises, Nino the brat who keeps making fun of other members but deep inside he just care so much about the members and Matsujun who on the outside is the Cool and Do-s person but actually a warm-hearted person.
Arashi which started by people who don’t really know the members that well but able to go through Ten Years that full of hardships, dreams, and obstacles and they make it and they had achieved a lot of popularity, glory, awards and other lots of great achievement.. Their existence has been well-known, not only in Japan, but also throughout the world. This is where Arashi makes storm throughout the world.
