Let's catch them all~ Random balls~ ♪
Jan. 10th, 2010 01:26 amI don't usually make posts like these to the community, but I couldn't help myself after reading their latest group talk from Pia no. 1302. It's just so awesome I couldn't resist sharing a summary of the highlights so you guys can also boggle at the utter retardation that is Arashi. XD
In a nutshell, they were asked to sit down and completely plan out an all-member drama amongst themselves, from the title to the plot to the theme song to even how the promotion posters will look like. For an idea of what sort of thing they came up with, this is the title and catchphrase:
RANDOM BALLS
Friendship, love, ---------------balls.
And here are the finer points of "Random Balls" (not entirely in the same order from the article since their talk was very much all over the place and they often went on tangents before returning to the original topic):
→ It's a Back to the Future rip-off where Ohno builds a time machine and sends them all back in time to the past, around the time of debut.
→ They wavered for a while about that because they couldn't think of a happy ending, but none of the other ideas sounded feasible either so they returned to it for good.
→ To give it a happy ending, they decided they'll have to somehow get themselves back to their own time.
→ Since a massive amount of power was required in order to go back in the original Back to the Future movie, they decided to steal that idea too.
→ Sho suggested collecting seven balls (note: rip-off of Dragonball) that will generate the power needed and make them all go AHHHHHH!!! as it returns them to the future.
→ What makes it so ~*~intriguing~*~ is that no one knows what exactly the balls are-- they're random balls, in other words.
→ Each guy gets a starring episode as they individually collect one ball somehow, so they came up with different genres for each member to make it more interesting.
→ Ohno ends up catching one by accident while fishing, but he's taking on the action genre so think Rambo!Ohno.
→ Aiba will be doing adventure, so something Indiana Jones-like where he knows all the fancy history about these seven random balls and even has a "random ball radar" like Bulma from DB
→ Sho's will be romance, wherein he falls in love with a girl who has one of the balls and they have kids, but it's a Romeo & Juliet type plot with no happy ending as he's from the future. His suggestion was that they fall in love and have a kid... and the baby is born holding the ball he needs. Needless to say, everyone had a good time laughing in his face about it.
→ They started getting really excited at this point because omg the audience won't know when a ball will make an appearance at all!
→ Jun's will be historical, where he gets sent back to the Edo period and ends up randomly fighting with someone like Oda Nobunaga for the ball; just before he ends up changing history, he gets his hands on the ball and returns to the future.
→ Lastly, Nino's would be the sports genre where he tries out all kinds of different sports, but he doesn't know which ball it is and it mostly consists of him grabbing different sized balls and tossing them as he goes "NOT THIS ONE! NOT THIS ONE!" until he picks one up and all of a sudden-- "AHHHHHH!!!"
→ At this point, they realized they had forgotten to add in singing and dancing, so they decided on the spot that they would insert random dancing with a rehearsal feel to it (in other words, half-assed) in the ending credits for about two verses' worth to make people go "WTF IS THIS!?"
→ They completely glossed over the remaining two balls since they're all random anyway, so they'll just be collected somehow or other, like "Huh? Why is there a ball here in a place like this... AHHHHH!!!"
Other details of interest about "Random Balls":
→ The theme song will of course be done by Arashi, with choice lyrics such as "Let's catch them all~ Random balls~"
→ It was at this point that the interviewer asked them to at least give some serious thought to a good title for their drama, so of course they immediately replied with things like "Why not just 'Random Balls'? It's a great title! It'll bring in the ratings! Make people go 'what the heck is that?' and want to watch!". Sho was too busy laughing throughout it all and laughed so hard he ran out of breath and could only manage a weak "Haha... that's so mean..." (Ohno: But they'll really want to watch it. I'd want to watch it too.)
→ When asked about the visual concept for their drama, Sho immediately suggested something like Austin Powers; when the interviewer asked about Super Saiyans, he quickly shot it down because "that would be plagiarizing then". Except, as the others pointed out, they've already been plagiarizing all over the place, so...
→ With the promotion posters, they settled for dressing in something cool and striking poses as if they're catching or throwing random balls.
I don't know about you guys, but I would absolutely love to watch a drama like this. ♥

Date: 2010-01-10 07:09 am (UTC)Cute story! It's like a Satomi Hakkenden spoof!
Wouldnt all their problems be solved if the plot just called for the collection of only 5 balls?
Thanks for sharing!
