Arashi ni Shiyagare - Broadcasting from April 2010 at 10-11pm on Saturdays.
From 10pm on Saturday's, highly popular band Arashi will challenge a completely new program.
What Arashi will face on this new program will be a "lack of common-sense, absolutely unplanned" form of variety entertainment. The five members without knowing things like who the guest will be or what they will be doing with said guest, will have to record the program under improvisation.
[Arashi vs Senior Guest] project: The Set
The main corner the program will be based on: [The Set], will consist of a different guest appearing each week and Arashi learning their specialization. The set will change weekly for each guest in this corner. Though one time it may be a music hall set, it might be a comedy set the next or even a tiered doll stand set the next. This is in order for Arashi to learn entertaiment skills from the professionals who will appear each week.
Examples:
In the case the guest is a comedian...Arashi will learn comedy on a comedy set!
In the case the guest is a rakugo performer...Arashi will learn to tell rakugo on a concert hall set!
In the case the guest is a kabuki performer...Arashi will learn to perform kabuki on a stage set!
...under this condition, every week a set is prepared in advance for the professional guest. Using improvisation, Arashi will challenge that person's profession and play around with it, on this talk and entertainment program.
Performers Comments:
Ohno Satoshi
I'd normally like to be enthusiastic about a new program but the staff said to us "In this program you'll be working with the guest with no script so please make something up!" (laughs)
At any rate...I-...I'll try my best~!
Sakurai Sho
It's already been 9 years since our very first program aired.
This will be a program on a weekend evening, at 10pm on Saturdays with the network Nihon TV who have looked after us all these years.
I think along with the staff we'll be able to make a program the whole family can enjoy.
What sort of chemistry will unfold between our five members of Arashi and the guest!?
Please look forward to it!
Aiba Masaki
It seems things like who the guest is or what we'll be doing will only be revealed to us during recording.
I think this will take good reflexes so I'll train that (^0^)
Even though I'm still a bit uneasy... (laugh)
I'll really do my best!
Ninomiya Kazunari
The fact we got a program in the 10pm Saturday slot makes me really happy!
Still, deciding what we'll be doing on the spot is....
Well, it's a fresh kind of program and I was shocked when I first heard.
Saying that, we won't be able to prepare at all so I think we should at least take it easy before recording starts (laugh)
Matsumoto Jun
The theme of this program is improvisation.
Without knowing what guest is appearing that day, we'll have to try and develop chemistry with them. I wonder if we'll be able to make it interesting?
In a way it's also going to be a difficult challenge for both the staff and the guest.
I think it would be best if we try to make a program with the audiences point of view in mind.
Our first regular variety program was also with Nihon TV. I think even now there are a lot of people who we are indebted to, so I'll put my best efforts into this.
Programs producer Kawabe Akihiro's comment:
I'm keeping the guest a secret from those five! I'll also keep the subject matter a secret!
It's a variety talk program with absolutely no planning!
We'll use the tense atmosphere of the staff and Arashi as a base, whether it be a sparkling Arashi or a boring Arashi, we'll put it all in order to create something that's 100% charming!
Please look forward to a very spontaneous Arashi on Saturday nights!
Thought I'd translate this page after someone linked to it. Sounds like it's going to be a really interesting program with a no-money special kind of feel to it :D
