Sponichi, <Slipped due to fallen snow? Matsujun rear-end accident> Jun Matsumoto (26) of a popular group Arashi had rear-end accident while at the wheel. According to Himonya police around 23:15 on 1^st when he was driving on Jiyu street of Yakumo 5-chome, Meguro-ku from Komazewa park direction to Jiyugaoka direction. The car driven by Matsumoto was rear-ended to the car driven by woman that tried to stop at just before the junction for red signal. At gentle decline as the signal changed to red so it seemed that he tried to stop the car but it was slipped due to fallen snow. It was Matsumoto who called 911. In the center of Tokyo it was first accumulation of snow of year from night of 1^st to 2^nd. At accident. It snowed heavily. The back bumper of woman’s car brushed and the front of Matsumoto’s car was dented. None was hurt. According Johnny’s agency. Matsumoto was off on 1^st he had massage for 3 hours and he was on the way for home there’ no fellow passenger. At first he tried to go by taxi. He couldn’t catch taxi however he waited it for 20-30min due to snow, so he used his car. He has over 5 years driving experience. He handled rehearsal of show and interview as scheduled on 2nd. Agency says “We are relieved that no injury to adverse party and not escalated. We told them not to drive as possible to our talent on a routine basis. Especially to drive on snowy day by himself is lack of conscious. We alert him. According Yakumo police the car driven by Matsumoto-san pressed the brake pedal at red signal but rear-ended to the car that belong to woman living in Tokyo just before the junction. The site was gentle decline. And both cars stopped but it was slipped because of a light fall of snow after 2 years. After accident Matsumoto called 911. Both didn’t have fellow passenger and are not injured. The back bumper of woman’s car brushed and Himonya police handled as property damage accident. According Johnny’s agency whose Matusumoto is belonging to, Matsumoto was on the way from massage shop at accident he drove 5km/h. He wanted to catch the taxi but as he couldn’t catch it. He hasn’t changed studless tire for winter. Matsumoto worked as usual on 2^nd. Agency announced comment. “Sorry for all the concern he's caused, we deeply apologize it. Kabachi, AP diary updated. Hello every body today is setsubun (The traditional end of winter) Have you bought beans? Today we are preparation day so we do mamemaki (Bean throwing,) individually. February has come. This year it’s Olympic year. We are looking forward to Japanese player’s great success. That guy of Kabachi team will be also at site. I think he will back up no.1 of world. Tomorrow we are starting to film episode 6. Finally turning point. And on 7 February Tokujo Kabachi re-airing. Also tokujo image plant to included. However it’s re-on-air it’s new. Please check it. Thanks for the news! About Matsujun's accident.. I'm glad no one was hurt.. I really don't think it was anyone's fault since it really is harder to control your vehicle if there's snow on the road. I hope he didn't get an earful from the agency.. fender benders happen all around the world a lot and with Matsujun's case, it wasn't his fault.

Does it snow a lot in Tokyo? I mean, are people used to driving in the snow there? I know here in Vancouver it doesn't snow much so accidents increase when it's snowing just cuz people are a little bit not used to it..

It very rarely snows in Tokyo. Maybe 1 or 2 times a year and usually only an inch or two at most. It didn't snow much on the 1st, maybe a few centimeters, but it was raining before it started snowing, so the roads were probably really icy.

Hmmm...I wonder what two songs they'll sing at Music Station. I hope it's the 2 songs on their CD, Troublemaker and Yurase Ima Wo. Since it's February and their CD is dropping in March, it would be a perfect time to introduce both songs again to everyone. It's a new year so new songs they definitely should sing.

EDITED TO ADD: Ah, YESSSS! I was right! Yay, they are performing their new songs from the new CD! I can't wait! I really love the lyrics, so positive and inspiring. Yaaaaaayyyy!

By the sound of the jimusho, it sounds like Jun really did get an earful! Awww~ it really wasn't his fault though...meh, they love Jun and he's too much of a commodity for them to really be stuck on it. The good thing is is that he's okay! :D

When a minor accident (THREE miles per hour!!!) is the only thing people can 'instruct you' on, that's got to be a pretty good life!

I really hope the April drama for O-Chan is true!
I feel so sorry for MatsuJun - being warned about driving! Slipping on snow happens and it shows that he was taking it slow anyway if the car just tapped the one in front. Nobody was hurt and when it snowed here a few weeks back, there were hundreds of thise kinds of accidents. I'm just glad he and the woman are okay.

The lecture from Johnny is nothing. Compared to Ryo and the two guys in SMAP, this is nothing. It could have been worse. I'm sure it wasn't that bad, as most of the fault was on the snow anyway, but they likely had to say something to the media.

Okay, and Riida is just cute saying the chorus of Troublemaker on Arashi Discovery. Too cute. I thought the translation was "sweet sweet" not "swing swing". LOL Oh well, going to have to recheck I guess. :)
