i've been wondering where else in japan can i buy those materials in making a customized uchiwas like the skeleton uchiwa (the one that is plain, no designs, as in white or whatever color there is), deisgns, the japanese letters (i think) etc..

my mom has been searching whereever there can be like bookstores. but we find nothing.
any suggestion or places in ibaraki, japan have those materials for creating uchiwas? :)

I'm not sure, but I saw some in Tokyu Hands.

The ones I went to were in the Ikebukuro Eki and Kitasenju Eki.

Oh, sorry, I just realized you said Ibaraki...

I think Tokyu Hands is just in Tokyo so if you're ever there... :3;;

When I got my Tokyu Hands points card - I could not help myself, lol - they told me that you can't use this card in Tokyu Hands Nagoya. So I assume that Tokyu Hands is a bigger chain with stores in many cities?

I do not know if they have an official homepage, I would just try asking someone in Ibarakaki - be it a firendly policemen - if there is an Tokyu Hands there / close by, they will know for sure.

Hope that helps. Apart from that, you can also try your luck at usual pen + paper shops? Or 100 Yen stores? Haven't seen such things in a 100 Yen store yet, but every shop seems to have different stuff, so you might luck out there anyway.

Good luck!

LOFT has blank uchiwas. I checked their website for stores in Ibaraki, and there should be ones in Tsukuba and Mito. :)

It's not bookstores really. You want to look for craft stores, like LOFT and Tokyu Hands that were mentioned by other people. I've also seen blank uchiwa at 100yen stores, but not all of the 100yen stores carry them.

Yes, but not all of them have it. I think Daiso and Seria are your best bets, but not all branches actually carry them.

as other people mentioned, you can get it at tokyu hands. I also saw it at the dollar store (Daiso and Seria)... Tokyo hands makes special die-cuts of the words that you want, and they have an uchiwa template so you can preview what it will look like... Pretty cool but pretty expensive.

I've bought mine at Tokyo Hands and my local 100yen store. The ones at the 100yen store were a bit more flimsy, but a way better deal than the more expensive ones at Tokyo Hands.
