Hi,

I would like to ask some questions regarding Sho chan coming to Vancouver. I am aware of the fact that he is going to appear on Hanamaru Cafe live and that Arashi will be singing in the Music Station Special which should be live.... However, according to [livejournal.com profile] yamakaze067  Sho chan will be appearing at the Olympics Opening Ceremony. If he is attending the ceremony, there's no way he'll be able to sing on Music Station. I live in Richmond and would love to go welcome Sho chan to Vancouver. Does anyone have any other related information as to when Sho chan will be coming? Or if he is coming at all? Thank you in advance!

P.S Mods please delete if this is not allowed

im still saying that the time difference will make it alright for him to be at MS and then get to the opening ceremonies, right? there is a 17hr difference...

what time does MS start and what time does the OC start? he doesnt have to be at the whole ceremonies and he doesnt have to stay for the whole MS show. im thinking the flight time is like 9 hours or so since japan is a little less than double the distance from cali as new york is, and it takes about 5 hrs to get to cali normally with no stops.

so lets say with check-in at the airport and to get into the place where the ceremonies will take place and travel time is like 2 hours... i think he still has plenty of time to get there... O_O

According to my Arashi cluster, Hanamaru must be in video. Flights to Vancouver from Narita there are some only between 17-18. if he appears Music station in live it must be from Vancouver as he attends opening ceremony of Olympic Games. So in that case he has to leave Narita by Thursday evening's flight and arrives to Vancouver Thursday 8-9am In the case he attends Music station with video. he leaves Narita by Friday evening flight. Arrive to Vancouver Friday morning.

If it comes down to it, Sho won't be in the MS performance. I don't think it's logical to run to the airport to risk check in or flight delays. Hopefully, he will arrive in Vancouver the day before the ceremony!

Time Calculations

From: [identity profile] rininjapan.livejournal.com
Forgive my following calculations - they're for my personal amusement in my quest to find out if Sho is the real Superman. Hope this helps a little.

Music Station begins Friday 12th Feb at 19:00 JST (Friday 12th Feb 02:00 Vancouver time). Say Sho leaves MS at 19:30 JST (02:30 Vancouver Time). It would take him then AT LEAST an hour to get to either Narita Airport or Haneda airport. (Longer for Narita.) Let's say it takes him two hours to get to Narita from Roppongi (where TV Asahi HQ is). He arrives at 21:30 (04:30 Vanc Time). You need to arrive at least two hours before your flight so let's say the plane takes off at 23:30 (if there is a plane leaving that late) (06:00 Van Time). Apparently it takes about 9 hours to get from Narita to Vancouver. So Sho arrives in Vancouver 08:30 (Feb 13th) JST = 15:30 (Feb 12th) Vancouver Time. Ticket holders are allowed entrance into the grounds for the Opening Ceremony up to four hours before the event, which begins at 18:00 Vancouver time (11:00 Sat JST). From the time he lands at the airport he will have around two hours to go through customs, travel to the venue, get through security, and then find his seat. Not only is Sho part of the press but he won't be carrying much on him so he will zip through security. Still, two hours is not a huge window of time, especially where planes are concerned.

Sho is not due on Japanese TV for the highlight show until 18:00 on Sat Feb 13 JST (01:00 on Sat Feb 13 Vancouver time.) It hasn't yet been announced whether Sho's appearance on NTV's Opening Ceremony highlights will be pre-recorded or live.

He may be exhausted but I believe it is physically possible for him to attend the Olympic Opening Ceremony even after having performed live on M-Station. I know he'd be dead but it wouldn't surprise me what measures that man would go to for his job. It sounds like the kind of stunt he might actually try to pull. However, as I said, that two hour window is a HUGE risk to take. I do think it highly unlikely it will be taken.

We must also consider the possibility that Arashi will not appear live on MS and will just send in a pre-recorded performance. There is a SLIM chance of them performing two brand new songs live with only four members, so something pre-recorded is a happy alternative.

Regardless, I hope Sho-chan has learned how to sleep on planes by now. And I pray he's not given a window seat but plenty of delicious food!

In the end these are just the conclusions I've come to. I may be wrong about a lot of things. We'll just have to see when Friday comes round.

To answer one question though, I'm pretty sure Sho has CONFIRMED that he will be attending the Opening Ceremony of the Vancouver Games.

Sorry for the lengthy post. I hope it was mildly helpful/interesting.

I had so much fun reading all the comments here but yours caught my eye. I thought I was obsessed over Sho but man how long did it take you to do all these calculations.
I guess we just have to wait and see, not long to go now.

lol. Don't get the wrong idea. I love planning trips for either myself or my own family so I've gotten used to doing calculations like this by now. It took a little over an hour to complete, and although I don't believe in the overnight plane, if there were one, I believe that's how it would have happened.

However, whispers on the wind are saying that Sho will be leaving Japan today (Thurs, Feb 11). I hope he has a pleasant flight and has some time to refresh before the Opening Ceremony. In all, I hope he has a good and safe time, as well as safe flights there and back. We may even be lucky enough to hear some of Sho's English in action, because he will be needing it.

In all, I wish him the best. And no amount of Music Station specials could change my mind.

Ah no wonder you are so good with it , practice makes perfect. I normally do it only for myself when I go away. I hope the rumours are true that he is leaving Thursday night...which means he should be on a plane as we speak. I hope so, that way he can have a few hours rest before he gets into action. One more day to go yipeee!
But who knows he might go back there at the end of the week or next.

of course it is a ticket event.. as of a couple months ago already all opening ceremony tickets (at least the cheap ones and semi acceptable ones) are all sold out and the ones left now are extremely expensive.. unless you already have tickets or is rich.. haha either one.. then you should not be having issues.. but other than that.. i really dont think sneaking in is that plausible.. we're talking about winter olympics.. not just a community event..

aw, i wanna see sho-kun too (though it isn't said, that anyone will see him xD) but i'm really cheering for all of you who have the possibility to see him.
Maybe I will watch the opening ceremony on tv? i have to inform me when it will air at my place xD

Your best bet will probably be going to the airport and waiting to see him when he comes in. Tickets to the Olympics are suuuuper expensive and there's no way you'll get in without a ticket of some sort (or that they'll let you hang around outside) since security will be really tight.

There's also the slight possibility that Sho could fly in on a private plane, so he could leave whenever he needs to. It's a small chance, but he is going for NEWS Zero and representing Johnny's. (Heck, Arashi had one for the Arashi Around Asia shenanigans, so why not Sho?)

As far as I know...

...since they were asking for fan club members to attend the "live" on Music Station (I tried to get tickets), I assume that Arashi will appear live (with or without Sho). Flights to North America only leave from Narita and they only depart during business hours (Narita Airport rule), which means the last flight leaves around 7pm. You don't need to get to the airport 2 hours before the flight if you check in online and only have carry on baggage or if someone checks in your baggage for you (I know, my boss has done this before). Sooooo, it's a tight schedule but it's possible...

I got that email too but I don't remember the times it had on it...

*checks phone* It does say the Friday but it doesn't say what time. It could even be a pre-recorded event. Meaning they do it during the day tomorrow.

Even so, Arashi may perform live without Sho. It is not completely unheard of. There were also whispers on the wind that Sho was leaving today.

Overall for me, it's Sho's safety and comfort > live Music Station performance. There'll be other Music Stations but there is only one Sho-chan and I wish him the very best, as well as a safe and relaxing trip.

Besides, Arashi was still Arashi when Nino was working hard in Hollywood.
