Matsushita Nao and Arashi become Kouhaku Uta Gassen hosts

On November 3rd, NHK announced the decision to use actress Matsushita Nao (25) as the host for the Red team, and five-member idol group Arashi as the host for the White team in the 61th Kouhaku Uta Gassen on New Year's Eve.

In another article from Yahoo.co.jp, they quoted a statement from Jun: "I don't think we will be able to pull off an air of being distinguished hosts, but we can convey feelings of affinity and unity as it will be the five of us together. We hope to progress the show along without disrupting everyone's wonderful songs."

Aiba's quote: "It was an amazing dream to be able to take part in Kouhaku Uta Gassen ever since our CD debut as Arashi in 1999 last year, an unimaginable appearance. I was truly extremely happy to have all sorts of different people telling me 'Congratulations' And now, this year, an unimaginable hosting..."

It's not a "little" late, you know. Countdown is at 23:00-24:30. They just won't make it. It's just like it was with SMAP untill now - they where out of the Countdown for 3 years because Nakai was the Kohaku host. Now he's not the host, so maybe they'll be back to the concert... ^_^

anyway, I'm gonna be at the Kinki-kids concert, and than plan to attand to the Countdown q(^_^)p

This is great news, really but...does that means that we won't see the boys during the Countdown?
I don't want to seem too greedy but I love watching them at Countdown, I find it cute watching the boys being dorks on other's Johnny's songs.

Anyway, congrats to the boys! I'm very proud of them, this is a huge honor and Jun's comment is...Arashi-like! XD

aww i'm just excited and worried as the same time

since NHK stake a huge bet on this one taking on new hosts, there's bound to be critiques and controversy, especially if the ratings doesn't go up

it's the biggest event show in Japan with all those big industry people attending and ratings of 40% and up

i just hope on that day sho doesn't stumble on his words, jun wouldn't be so nervous, aiba wouldn't messed up, nino would confine his bratty role and that leader will be switched on ~

errr....but that's their charming point XDDD if they're gonna be all serious and superduper hosts without any sho-failing, jun-nervousness, aiba-messing, nino-bratting and ohno-off-switch people who don't know them would ask why is everyone so crazy about them, cause they're too normal XDDD I think people want to see something arashian-like so I hope they won't try to be super not-arashi-like ^^'
