Aiba's new drama confirmed: "Bartender"

In an ad printed today in the latest issue of SUPER JUMP, a biweekly manga anthology published by Shueisha, it was officially announced that Aiba Masaki will be starring in the drama adaptation of "Bartender", a series created in 2004 that had ended its run a year ago. There was also an anime adaptation that had aired in 2006.

Bartender (official site here) is a series about a genius bartender who uses his talents to ease the worries and soothe the souls of troubled customers. (You can read more about the series on Wikipedia.) It's a TV Asahi drama that will start airing in January on Friday nights at 23:15 (time differences subject to region), and Aiba will be taking on the main role of Sasakura Ryuu.

Apparently he made a comment about how it was supposed to be his time off but he didn't get any rest at all because he had to learn how to bartend, but we might have to wait for later news clips and articles to confirm that.

HOLY CRAP I LOVE THIS MANGA. Seriously, the main character is just so awesome. And I don't even like alcohol.

The anime was kind of boring, though, so hopefully the drama won't be the same.

OH YES!!!! After My Girl I've always thought that Aiba-chan deserves to be the main character in dramas more often! His acting is so natural and unforced (in my opinion)!

I love your description of Aiba-kun's acting, perfectly true, too. That's exactly how I would describe him, just like his personality, natural and unforced, but when he gives of himself, he gives 110 percent of his heart and soul. That's why Aiba is always such a joy to watch. :) *Cheers with the other Arashi fans* So utterly happy for Aiba-kun's opportunity to shine next.
