To all residents of Singapore, I just have a question.
My sister is going to Singapore, for the first time, this Sunday (July 17) and she will be staying in Riverview Hotel until Friday. I asked her to buy any Arashi goodies, well, an album or magazine would be nice. But she told me that she WILL buy some IF and only IF the stores are within the vicinity of the hotel, since the purpose of her coming there is for work, she won't have any extra time trying to find my requests all over the city.
Can you guys name me any stores at all? Near Riverview Hotel (Downtown (just outside the Central Business District, Within walking distance to Robertson Quay, Clarke Quay, Zouk and Great World City, as said by the website) ? And can you also include the address? It would really help my sister. And I would really be grateful, since this is the only chance I'll get to obtaining any Arashi merchandise *o* hoho
(Plus my exams are coming up, I won't have time to browse all over the net, and I trust you guys so I'll just leave it to you ne~^^)

Thanks in advance! ^o^

If it is within walking distance of Clarke Quay, she can try looking for magazines at the Kinokuniya in Liang Court. It's very near Clarke Quay, and during my trip last May I was able to buy a copy of Monthly The Television with Aiba on the cover and with some Arashi-related stuff inside.

I'm not sure about albums, though. As far as I know only HMV carries the latest Japanese albums and they're quite pricey.

I just checked the route from the hotel to Liang Court and they're just a little less than a kilometer apart. I don't know what your sister means by places within the vicinity of the hotel but if she wants to go to Liang Court she'll either have to walk a bit or take 1 bus from the hotel. The address: 177B River Valley Road :)

I do hope your sister will have even a bit of time to do some sightseeing since she'll be in SG for almost a week. If she has some time to go to Orchard Road that's a better place for her to look for merchandise since the biggest Kinokuniya (in Takashimaya shopping mall) and an outlet of HMV (in 313 Somerset) are both along that road. Even if she has to take 2 trains to get to Orchard Road from her hotel it's not actually that far.

I'd say the distance is about 1 kilometer. If she's not willing to walk that far she'll have to take the bus. If she needs to plan her itinerary she can use gothere.sg (http://gothere.sg) :) It's what I used to plan my trip and it helped me loads.

The places that everyone is mentioning are easily accessible either by bus or by train so it won't be too hard for her. It'll ultimately be up to how much free time she has, though.

Off-topic, but you're Filipino pala. XD Hello fellow Pinay!

Hmmm if I remember correctly it was around 7 or 8 SGD, which roughly translates to somewhere around 250-280 PHP. :) It was a really lucky find on my part, though. I went to Liang Court the morning before I went back to the Philippines so to put it in our native language, minadaling lakad siya.

I have friends there which is why I decided to visit. My biggest regret was not being able to watch Gantz, though. If I visited a week later I would have caught it in the cinema.

Eh, for Arashi items in Singapore is quite little.
melodyofmysoul is right, Liang Court at Kinokuniya do have some magazines and fanbooks on Arashi but sadly it's hard to find Arashi albums or singles in usual CD stores. ( I tried looking for it, but in vain, only Ayumi Hamasaki albums, Koda Kumi, Namie Amuro etc , furthermore, SG having Korean wave as well, probably you will have more luck in finding korean stuffs in shops.)

As for Japanese goods eg Arashi-related, it's really very little. ='(
There's a AKB48 shop and cafe at the *Scape, just behind Cineleisure at Orchard area.

They do sell Beautiful World in HMV. It's a music shop in 313@Somerset, the shopping centre is directly above the Somerset MRT station on the Red Line. (:

hmm Liang Court (http://www.liangcourt.com.sg/liang-court/getting-here.aspx) has a Kinokuniya store and if your sis have the time then i could suggest making a trip to orchard (about 6 train stations away? not that far though) since there's HMV which is quite big but their stocks arent really up to date immediately with jpop and the pricing too...
takashimaya there has the main branch of kinokuniya which is bigger too and more varieties of mags and they're usually quite up to date:)

liang court is alot nearer since it's within walking dist:) but if your sis has more time, she can try to make a trip to takashimaya:) which is taking a train from clarke quay(walking dist from the hotel) to orchard. as mentioned above, you can use gothere.sg (http://gothere.sg) to know more and better:)

You could check up on Marina's HMV. There's arashi singles and album. I don't know if they stock up arashi's latest ones but i saw love rainbow single and kimi to boku no miteiru fukei album when i was there. And it seems untouched.

And yeah, Liang court's kinokuniya for magazines (:

313 Somerset is at Somerset, near Orchard; she'll need to take a train to get there. Liang Court is definitely much nearer, within short walking distance.

sorry babe, if it's within the vincinity of rearview hotel, your best bet is Liang Court's Kinokuniya.

there used to be a JE shop called MISE at CATHAY, at Somerset, but it's gone now.

as a singaporean, i know how hard it is to get ANY JE goods here. the most you can find are V6, TOKIO, and SMAP. even then, they're all found in the most unlikely places.

Agree with [livejournal.com profile] melodyofmysoul! Ask your sister if she can go to the Orchard Road area for HMV and Kinokuniya.

HMV is at 313@Somerset along Orchard Road and near the Somerset MRT. Here's a map: http://www.streetdirectory.com/asia_travel/travel/travel_id_44799/travel_site_144263/

They have a pretty decent selection of Arashi CDs. I was there 2 weeks ago (visiting from Manila) and they had, as far as I remember, these singles and albums (all regular edition, some are Japanese edition, some are Taiwan/Hong Kong edition): Lotus, To Be Free, Troublemaker, Hatenai Sora, Dear Snow, Truth, Beautiful Days, My Girl, Everything, Kitto Daijoubu, Dream "A"live, One, Arashic and All the Best. For the latest singles (like Lotus), they had 3-5 copies, but for the older singles/albums (like Kitto Daijoubu and Arashic), they had 1-2 copies only.

HMV Singapore has a Facebook page. You can ask them what Arashi CDs they have in-stock: http://www.facebook.com/HMVSingapore They said last week that they already had Beautiful World in-stock in one of their comments: http://www.facebook.com/HMVSingapore/posts/10150217838246307

Kinokuniya in Takashimaya has many weekly/monthly Japanese magazines in-stock. Here's a map: http://www.streetdirectory.com/asia_travel/travel/travel_id_8788/travel_site_22978/

I didn't get any Arashi magazines, but I remember they had Monthly the Television (or was it Weekly the Television?), Myojo and Popolo.

Good luck! ^^
