To all residents of Singapore, I just have a question.
My sister is going to Singapore, for the first time, this Sunday (July 17) and she will be staying in Riverview Hotel until Friday. I asked her to buy any Arashi goodies, well, an album or magazine would be nice. But she told me that she WILL buy some IF and only IF the stores are within the vicinity of the hotel, since the purpose of her coming there is for work, she won't have any extra time trying to find my requests all over the city.
Can you guys name me any stores at all? Near Riverview Hotel (Downtown (just outside the Central Business District, Within walking distance to Robertson Quay, Clarke Quay, Zouk and Great World City, as said by the website) ? And can you also include the address? It would really help my sister. And I would really be grateful, since this is the only chance I'll get to obtaining any Arashi merchandise *o* hoho

(Plus my exams are coming up, I won't have time to browse all over the net, and I trust you guys so I'll just leave it to you ne~^^)
Thanks in advance! ^o^

Date: 2011-07-14 05:44 pm (UTC)I'm not sure about albums, though. As far as I know only HMV carries the latest Japanese albums and they're quite pricey.

Date: 2011-07-14 06:48 pm (UTC)I do hope your sister will have even a bit of time to do some sightseeing since she'll be in SG for almost a week. If she has some time to go to Orchard Road that's a better place for her to look for merchandise since the biggest Kinokuniya (in Takashimaya shopping mall) and an outlet of HMV (in 313 Somerset) are both along that road. Even if she has to take 2 trains to get to Orchard Road from her hotel it's not actually that far.

Date: 2011-07-15 09:50 am (UTC)I hope so to, then she can buy at least one merchandise if they are expensive. Haha! No, based from the pictures I can see that the city is beautiful, I hope she gets to appreciate it. I'm happy even if it is a television monthly magazine, if not a popolo or only star.
Oh, I see,, I'll tell her that,, thanks a bunch! <333

Date: 2011-07-15 11:53 am (UTC)The places that everyone is mentioning are easily accessible either by bus or by train so it won't be too hard for her. It'll ultimately be up to how much free time she has, though.
Off-topic, but you're Filipino pala. XD Hello fellow Pinay!

Date: 2011-07-15 03:35 pm (UTC)Can I ask, how much are the mags at the Kinokuniya? If you can remember the prices ^^ She told me she and her officemates will be going to clark quay and the sunshine plaza,, so I guess that's that.

Date: 2011-07-15 05:42 pm (UTC)I have friends there which is why I decided to visit. My biggest regret was not being able to watch Gantz, though. If I visited a week later I would have caught it in the cinema.

Date: 2011-07-14 05:52 pm (UTC)melodyofmysoul is right, Liang Court at Kinokuniya do have some magazines and fanbooks on Arashi but sadly it's hard to find Arashi albums or singles in usual CD stores. ( I tried looking for it, but in vain, only Ayumi Hamasaki albums, Koda Kumi, Namie Amuro etc , furthermore, SG having Korean wave as well, probably you will have more luck in finding korean stuffs in shops.)
As for Japanese goods eg Arashi-related, it's really very little. ='(
There's a AKB48 shop and cafe at the *Scape, just behind Cineleisure at Orchard area.

Date: 2011-07-15 09:56 am (UTC)well, at least there will be mags and fanbooks though. I really want an original copy of BW. Since I'm not really into kpop,, it won't do xD
I sure hope that Arashi merchandises would become abundant in Singapore in the coming months and years,, (there aren't any music stores here in the Phil that sells them @_@)
Thanks for the info though ;)

Date: 2011-07-15 01:26 am (UTC)there used to be a JE shop called MISE at CATHAY, at Somerset, but it's gone now.
as a singaporean, i know how hard it is to get ANY JE goods here. the most you can find are V6, TOKIO, and SMAP. even then, they're all found in the most unlikely places.

Date: 2011-07-15 04:54 am (UTC)HMV is at 313@Somerset along Orchard Road and near the Somerset MRT. Here's a map: http://www.streetdirectory.com/asia_travel/travel/travel_id_44799/travel_site_144263/
They have a pretty decent selection of Arashi CDs. I was there 2 weeks ago (visiting from Manila) and they had, as far as I remember, these singles and albums (all regular edition, some are Japanese edition, some are Taiwan/Hong Kong edition): Lotus, To Be Free, Troublemaker, Hatenai Sora, Dear Snow, Truth, Beautiful Days, My Girl, Everything, Kitto Daijoubu, Dream "A"live, One, Arashic and All the Best. For the latest singles (like Lotus), they had 3-5 copies, but for the older singles/albums (like Kitto Daijoubu and Arashic), they had 1-2 copies only.
HMV Singapore has a Facebook page. You can ask them what Arashi CDs they have in-stock: http://www.facebook.com/HMVSingapore They said last week that they already had Beautiful World in-stock in one of their comments: http://www.facebook.com/HMVSingapore/posts/10150217838246307
Kinokuniya in Takashimaya has many weekly/monthly Japanese magazines in-stock. Here's a map: http://www.streetdirectory.com/asia_travel/travel/travel_id_8788/travel_site_22978/
I didn't get any Arashi magazines, but I remember they had Monthly the Television (or was it Weekly the Television?), Myojo and Popolo.
Good luck! ^^
