but tbqh, lately, I've been seeing things like this... fans comparing groups to groups, this group is stealing the popularity of this group, and so on... And I'm so sad that its actually Arashi fans who always have a negative image :(

about the negative image thing, it's just a matter of perception. i'm sure all fans of idol groups are passionate, and arashi fandom is considered the bully these days simply because their bias IS still johnny's biggest money-making machine at this point.In short, all other JE groups (especially the kouhais) are who we call "underdogs", and their fans can't really be in the offensive side right now because there isn't much to say yet, their own bias is still in the process of making their mark.
of course people love underdogs, they're going to root for them to win and finally beat the ruling group. good luck with that.
and i'm wondering, where are the arashi fans who give the fandom negative image? i read posts here, which is the main arashi comm, and i rarely see rudeness. by any chance, are people judging the whole arashi fandom based on a number of so-called arashi fans in, say, aramatheydidnt? riiight. look elsewhere.

what some call egoistic,others call pride. there are those who go too far, but they're not the only ones. this fandom is not the only one with 'crazed' fans and yet everyone outside of it (even some in it) seems to have been canonized and are now united in the quest to bring down arashi.

i do not mean to side with the too passionate fans, but darn it, they're part of the fandom and at least their,um, dedication to arashi is great.

The double standards and omg butthurt wars kill me on arama. Many members complain Arashi fans trolling in other fandom threads when they troll/bash freely in Arashi threads and say fans are 'butthurt' if they feed the troll. It's...stupid. And tbh, fans who know better don't bother to post much on arama, I guess. (aka people based their judgement of the fandom on those who make the most noise, who are often the rude/immature ones)

yeah on arama, but I've also seen couple of people who says that on tumblr and 6theory/tokyohive (those are the sites w/c I often visit)sadly, even Arashi fan themselves...
there's an instance where, an arashi fan asked why people would hate on Arashi, then someone (a fan of another johnny's group) replied to her that it's because Arashi fans are annoying (w/c I totally would disagree too cause, imo, every fandom has their own share of annoying fans, its just Arashi's fandom is huge.
then, I've read on tumblr that an Arashi fan is also fed up with the Arashi fandom, that's why she'll just leave the fandom itself cause if not shed just hate Arashi as well:(

i think the issue with those popularity polls is not the bias voting, because there is not much difference between 18 thousand blindly voting arashi fans to 1500 blindly voting kanjani8 fans or 900 blindly voting kattun fans except the number.
it's natural for non-fans to say disparaging remarks about the ones who are on top. what's irritating is when actual fans actually get affected by the 'hater mentality' of non-fans and judge the entire fandom on that. it makes you question whether they're really arashi fans or just someone passing by and got curious.

sorry, i don't agree with most of you that's trying to be pc and says that they are "different kinds" of closeness. i do take consideration idols inter-relationship is not something that can be viewed objectively but Arashi themselves have said before that there are other groups that have a closer relationship amongst member than them AND they SELDOM in contact with one another outside of work. for goodness sake, Sakuraba and Ohmiya never had an intimate one-to-one drinks together in 12 years they've been together.

I don't want to make a big deal about it, since I don't have a strong opinion against comparing or annoying fans.

But people in general wouldn't have heard of Eito's member-ai unless they're really a fan. And I agree with you here that Eito play together a lot more outside of work and bc it's not displayed on camera, people don't know about it. A lot of their member-ai stories I only knew about and heard of from listening to Reccomen. For example, the time when Yoko threw a bday bash for Hina and ALL members showed up and went on a bender XD Then drunk!Hina went and kissed a couple of members, and not just a peck, but apparently he attacked them lip on lip XDD Yes, this level of member-ai I'll never see happen with Arashi. Or if it did happen, we'll never hear about it.

i was not even talking about k8 so called member. i don't even know about recomen or whatever they do in their free time. what i do know as an Arashi fan, Arashi themselves have acknowledged that "they are close but not that close". They've said it countless of times despite having "chumminess" as one of their main selling traits. They even pointed out Tokio and K8 as having a closer relationship between members in interviews and such. I just find it annoying to see fans put Arashi as "the bestest" when they've admitted they are not.
