These tabloids can be so stupid a lot of times. Kaibutsu-kun is being promoted because it is an expensive movie. But on top of these, the promotions are often tie-ins with product endorsements and sales of goods. The drama was so profitable for NTV because of all the goods and DVDs sold. And of course the producers would want to rake in the cash. So even before the movie is being shown, the producers are already earning money.

I don't get why another Johnny's show can't just be popular without there being underlying reasons for everything.

Like goddamn, Kame's had a string of flops, he has a hit now, and he works hard. Good for him. If it had flopped the article writer would've talked about "Bem" flopping even with any form of promotion.
