Hey there…I have again a question about concert tickets.

I’ve been reading warnings that they check your ID at the entrance and they can kick you out of there if it’s not your name on the ticket. Do you ever heard of this actually happening to someone? And is there any way to still get inside even if they catch you? ( like playing the dumb gaijin or say your friend gave you the ticket, I don’t know ). I’m thinking that I can be so easily caught as they’ll see a kanji name on the ticket and I’m clearly not Japanese.

I’m really scared to spend 100.000 yen on a ticket and not be able to get in…please share your experiences!

Giving my two cents based on my personal experience (that is not that big). I had the same fear you have because I also heard that and I went deathly nervous at the entrance point, (I am not Japanese or Asian) but is it also true that I was with at least another person with me (not seated together but entered together since we met before the concert) so maybe that helped. They didn't check the name at all.

I don't know about Arashi, but I entered V6 concert with no problem (and it wasn't my name on tickets...)

I heard that rumour about Arashi tickets last year.
I think it's wrong to spend so much money on re-sold concert tickets: it's not as if this money would profit to them...and it's abusing.
Maybe they started to kick off people because of this abuse ~~~~

I have been to a few concerts and have never been checked. If you have that many people going into a concert and you ID checked them all, just think how long it'd take. You'd have to start lining up the day before to get in.

The first time I went to a concert, I got someone to tell me what name the kanji on the ticket was so I could say I'd organised to meet my friend inside just in case they checked. People can buy up to 3 tickets and the other 2 tickets don't need to be for members so I don't think there is any way they can check it anyway.

Also, the tickets are openly sold in Harajuku as well as online. If JE really wanted to stop people reselling tickets, they could.

I went in january this year to fukuoka dome on the last day and was absolutely shocked at how lenient they were (i had my own name on my ticket) but they didnt look at my name, they just checked the actual ticket if i had one. they were more concerned at the size of my uchiwa haha

They've never checked me or anyone else I know. :)

from my experience.
Staff will check uchiwa's size and camera in you bag more than the name on the ticket.

However, JE will ban some ticket from re-sale tickets ,you can check on JE website.

What I can tell you from 10 years of experience is that no concert is worth 100,000 yen a ticket. No matter who the group is. And shame on the people thinking they can get away with re-selling tickets at such inflated prices. Don't encourage them :(

i went to kokuritsu con last year and they only check if i have a ticket^^

i heard that they'll check our ticket in smaller venue but i don't think they'ld be able to check all the tickets since there're too many of them XD

i think they'll be focusing on gaijin, but then again, they can't speak english so i don't think they would have the courage to ask XDDD

btw, how about our meet up? XD

I'm a white American, no Japanese, and I bought a ticket from scalpers and didn't have any trouble getting in at all. I was by myself. The people at the front entrance were really nice and they definitely weren't checking ID's. That would be kinda impossible with 50,000+ people in attendance. I don't think you should worry.

if it's.. 100,000 yen, try to get your ticket elsewhere. they sell it openly near the concert venues, and some shops even advertise it openly. i'm not saying it's cheap, cuz it's like, soo many times more expensive than the original price, but even with the inflation, it's definitely likely to be waaay less than 100,000yen.

and, nah. even johnny himself wouldn't be so ridiculous to card-check 77,000(kokuritsu dome) people. unless there was a terrorist suspect in the audience. then, he'd probably juz cancel the whole thing instead. xD~!

I'm tall, white, blonde, and blue-eyed, so I stand out like crazy, and I've been to many JE concerts (many different groups, but never Arashi) at a variety of venues, using tickets with Japanese names on them, and never had a problem or witnessed any checking of IDs. It's not an impossibility that it could happen, but the chances are extremely small. When you go in they're more concerned with the size of your uchiwa and whether or not you have a camera.

Good luck getting a ticket! :D

Don't worry about it. The entrance would be filled with many people, given such crowd they would not check your name and ask you too many questions about your ticket as this would cause the line to get jammed up. I went to their concert last year and i passed the entrance within a few seconds :) Enjoy your concert!!

I've gone to many lives in JP where they check for the name on the ticket and haven't had any problems. I'm not Asian at all. I'm Spanish. The only time that I potentially could have had a problem was when I saw Alice Nine many years ago for their FC X-mas live and they were checking the name on the ID and my FC ID didn't match they were going to ask me about it but then just let me go b/c A. i was foreign and B. I pretended to not know English and spoke only spanish..lol

It really all depends on the management I guess. Some staff for certain artist are super strict and yet others aren't. I think you'd be safe though. ^_^

Yes, there's the name of the one who balloted.
Fans can ballot for more than 1 ticket, but when they get ticket for friend, they are supposed to go altogether...so you are supposed to be with the one whose name is on the ticket.

They don' quite check (not at all for V6), but I heard same rumour than darkhriss last year (or 2 years ago): if you're not with original buyer (whose name is on ticket), they may have torn your ticket and you won't enter the venue (they're more likely to check gaijin tickets...'especially western type' than asian people, I think

I don't know if it's real...but I feared this could happen to me this year at Kobe or Yoyogi...

I'd rather buy DVD too...at least, you don't give your money to people who don't deserve it AT ALL

This is just based on my past experiences at the 10th anniversary and Boku no miteiru fuukei concerts, but the security check at the entrance was really lax. They just scan the ticket and don't even ask for the fan club card. But I've heard that they know which tickets have been re-sold (something about the scan codes being already cancelled?). I think Johnny's sent out an email maybe last year about re-sold tickets... they were really discouraging people from buying them. But overall, I don't really think you'll have a problem. If anything, just say that your friend gave you the ticket because she couldn't make it. Don't try to play the dumb gaijin.. they might get annoyed with you D:

I want to go to Fukuoka and I just wondering the same about the tickets with japanese names. But I read some of the answers and I fell more relaxed.

I think that if they ask me about the ticket I say that my friend give it to me. I will pray for you. Good luck!

And I am agreeing with what everyone else says, you will most likely be okay.
I so want to be able to go too but 100.000 yen is a hell of a lot of money....xD That's 2 months worth of rent haha! I still don't know what to do...
I might just wait untill the next tour and hope for tickets to several concerts instead...and buy the DVD...even though it hurts to be in Japan but not at the concert.
It's just so much money...

They checked my ticket and I couldn't go into the concert. ):

It was at Osaka Kyocera dome, and for my particular seat I had to go up an elevator (no stairs), so they set up a booth in front of the elevators and was checking everyone's ticket, ID, and JE Family card as well before they escorted you to your seat.

When I bought my ticket I tried to look up where the seat was because it seemed strange, but I couldn't find anything helpful online, even in Japanese, so I went for it because the ticket was cheap (it was literally 2 days before the concert, so I thought it was just because the person couldn't sell it fast enough so they settled for a lower price; although I don't actually know if the seller knew that this would happen, since it usually doesn't). I was with my friend, who had a general seat, and she got in fine. I tried to tell the Johnny's people every excuse I could, that my friend gave it to me, but they told me they would have to call my friend and verify the family club card number and birthday attached to the account before they would let me in.

So I wasted my money. I haven't heard of this happening to anyone else, and there's probably only a 5% chance of them checking your ticket, but I thought I would share, so you don't just think that buying tickets is completely fail-proof. As long as you have a general seat you should be okay, but watch out for something suspicious, or ask for a note or something from the seller.

I've entered 5 times with no problem. Don't look scared. Go in confident. They barely look at your ticket. Except in you get the ticket that boblemon is talking about. They always check in that area for the top, I heard, because it's easier to manage.

Date: 2011-12-07 12:53 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] arashiawase.livejournal.com
Oh, if they say anything to you, just shrug and say "I no speak Japanese/I no speak English." They will be too scared to try to communicate with you. NEVER let them know you understand Japanese. That is mistake number 1. They will start asking you too many questions (according to a friend) and make your life difficult/demand a phone call to your 'friend' on the ticket. Just in case, it might be a good idea to ask someone to wait by a phone just in case they ask you to call someone. Give them the name and fan club number on the ticket so they can pretend to be your friend.
