[MOD] Arashi Update #3
Aug. 9th, 2007 04:26 pmIt's been over a year since I've last done this, but I figured it might be of help to people, so... here goes:
It seems like while some of us do seem to know a lot about what's going on with Arashi lately, most of the community does not, whether because information were posted on communities that they were not a part of, or because some might consider the information common knowledge and not bother to post about it.
The purpose of these posts is to catch people up on the activities Arashi members are involved in; no fancy pictures or uploads, but plenty of information on what the group has been up to lately. I'll try to add as much as possible, and people are more than welcome to include their own information as well.
Concerts

Stage Plays
Aiba Masaki - 忘れられない人 (Wasurarenai Hito)
- Two runs, first in Tokyo and later on in Osaka
- Starts on October 22nd and ends on November 11th in Tokyo (The Globe Tokyo), then from November 16th to November 18th in Osaka (Theater BRAVA!)
- Plays the role of Adam, a shy young man with a heart defect
- Was orginally an English movie by the name of "Untamed Heart", starring Christian Slater
Movies
Sakurai Sho - 木更津キャッツア: ワールドシリーズ (Kisarazu Cat's Eye: World Series)
- Released on DVD on May 2
- Is a sequel to the first Kisarazu Cat's Eye movie (storylines are independent of the TV series as far as I can tell)
- Reprises the role of Bambi
Ninomiya Kazunari - 硫黄島からの手紙 (Iwo Jima kara no Tegami)
- Released on DVD on May 22
- Includes premiere + press conference, behind the scenes footage and more
- Story deals with the Japanese perspective of the Battle of Iwo Jima that took place during World War II
- Complementary film to Clint Eastwood's "Flags of Our Fathers", which deals with the American perspective
- Plays the role of Saigo, one of the soldiers in the war
Matsumoto Jun - 僕は妹に恋をする (Boku wa Imouto ni Koi wo Suru)
- Will be released on DVD on August 29
- Is based on a manga of the same title by Aoki Kotomi
- Story deals with the taboo of incest between a pair of 18 year-old twins as they struggle with their feelings for each other, both as siblings and as something more
- Plays the role of Yori, one of the twins
Ninomiya Kazunari - 鉄コン筋クリート (Tekkon Kinkreet)
- Will be released on DVD on September 25
- Limited edition comes as a box set with director's notes and includes the making of, premiere + press conference footage, cast interviews and more
- Is based on a manga of the same title by Matsumoto Taiyo
- Animated movie whose story revolves around the adventures of two orphans named Kuro and Shiro as they work hard to save their city from corporate demons, and also try to save themselves along the way
- Provides the voice for Kuro
Arashi - 黄色い涙 (Kiiroi Namida)
- Will be released on DVD on October 3
- Limited edition contains a bonus disc including the making of and a director's interview
- Is based on a manga of the same title by Nagashima Shinji
- Set in the 60s and follows the lives of five young men striving to achieve their goals amidst triumphs and failures
- Aiba plays the role of Inoue Shouichi, an aspiring singer
- Jun plays the role of Katsumata Yuuji, a young man struggling for independence
- Nino plays the role of Muraoka Eisuke, an aspiring manga artist
- Ohno plays the role of Shimokawa Kei, an aspiring painter
- Sho plays the role of Mukai Ryuuzou, an aspiring novelist

Ninomiya Kazunari & Sakurai Sho - 山田太郎ものがたり (Yamada Taro Monogatari)
- Began airing on July 6th, 2007
- Airs every Friday from 10:55 to 10:54 PM on TBS
- Is based on a manga of the same title by Morinaga Ai
- Story is about a young man who is very poor but otherwise perfect in every way, struggling to support his large family while attending a school for rich kids
- Nino plays the role of Yamada Taro and Sho plays the role of Mimura Takuya, Yamada's best (and wealthy) friend
Ninomiya Kazunari - マラソン (Marathon)
- Set to air in Fall 2007
- Drama special
- Based on a 2005 Korean movie of the same title
- Story is about the struggles of an autistic boy attempting to finish a marathon under three hours, and the support offered by his mother
- Plays the role of Miyata Shotaro, the main character

嵐の宿題くん (Arashi no Shukudai-kun)
- Features all five guys in a studio setting
- Airs every Monday from 11:55 to 12:26 AM on NTV
- Talk show format focusing on guests rather than the guys, with a guest (or two or three) coming on the show each week and proposing a 'homework' topic (a type of food they'd like to see more variety of)
まごまご嵐 (Mago Mago Arashi)
- Features all five guys, though usually only two people go out for outdoor scenes per episode
- Airs every Saturday from 12:00 to 1:56 PM on Fuji TV
- Is actually a half-hour segment that is part of a show called バニラ氣分! (Vanilla Kibun!)
- Theme of the show is focused on Arashi becoming grandsons for a day to old couples in various parts of Japan
- Alternates with episodes of two members travelling to different joukamachi (castle towns) in Japan, competing with another guest team of two in a scavenger hunt-like game
- Also includes alternate segments called Arashi no Kodomo Bangohan in which two members babysit children of a household for a day and compete with one another to cook the best dinner as voted by the kids
Aiba Masaki - 天才!志村どうぶつ園 (Tensai! Shimura Doubutsuen)
- Features only Aiba out of the group as a regular host on the show
- Airs every Thursday from 7:00 to 7:58 PM on NTV
- Basically a children's show with a focus on animals, both domestic and wild, as the theme
- Occasionally has segments with outdoor footage of Aiba going to various zoos and undertaking the tasks of a zookeeper
Sakurai Sho - NEWS ZERO
- Features only Sho out of the group as a regular news caster on the show
- Airs every Monday from 10:54 to 11:55 PM on NTV
- Basically a news program with featured reports by Sho
