[MOD] Poll time!

On the heels of my spontaneous help with onlyarashifiles' revamp, I figured it's about time to give this place a bit of sprucing up too. But a community isn't a community without its members, which of course means a quick, painless poll to see what you guys want.

Layout: Something that works with multiple browsers. I'm using Firefox and this layouts looks weird on it. The first post is always on the header so i have to highlight it to be able to read.

Tags: Definitely helpful if used properly. Hopefully multiple posts about the same issues will be cut down with a good tags system.

Else: I think it'd be a good idea to define more substantial guidelines for what this community is for. I'm as tired of x-posting as anyone else and it'd be nice if several Arashi communities could cooperate and take collective action on this. If there is need for multiple communities there should be more clear differences between them to prohibit abuse of x-posting as much as possible.

Duly noted, thank you! I was thinking along the same lines myself, that there should be a more concise, simpler set of rules for the community. It might be a bit tricky though, since there are so many communities out there now that it's hard to define what this community should be for, if that makes any sense...

I've been thinking about this before but forgot to mention: selling stuff. I don't feel it really belongs here and people tend to x-post them more than other posts as they really need buyers to take notice of their stuff.

It'd be great if there was a separate community for selling Arashi or JE stuff maybe and people who wants to sell or buy things can go join them or watch them or whatever.

Yeah, I could not agree about the layout more. I'm using Safari and the first post is actually under the header, so I have to either go into the calendar and seek out the entry directly, or just wait til more is posted and the first entry moves down. So I'm always a little behind. ::sigh::

I guess I keep talking about this - but it bothers me sort of a lot. XD So I'd love to see a layout that worked, I only view the community from it's own page. (Plus your onlyarashifiles layout is so pretty!)

Layout: I voted no, just because personally I almost never see it as I don't go to the actual community site, I just read through my friends list. I can't ask people to put work into something I rarely get use out of XD

Tags: I'd love it if there was an organized tag system :D As hiiyaa mentioned, it might help cut down on the kind of stuff that clutters up f-lists. And it makes it easier to yell at people who make stupid requests :D

Userinfo/etc: To be honest I can't remember what's in the userinfo XD I haven't looked at it since I joined. But after reading hiiyaa's comment, I have to agree with her. Anything to eliminate x-posting would be awesome. Maybe along with guidelines, some links to other communities would be useful? For example, something along the lines of saying there's no need to post fanfiction here if it's also post at jent_fanfics and arashirabu, as if people like fanfiction they've probably already joined those as well.

Thanks for your input! Unfortunately, since this current layout is a S1 layout it'd be hard to implement a tag system without an S2 layout-- so I guess they both go hand in hand XD I'd personally love to implement an organized tag system, if only to placate the OCD freak in me.

Like I just pointed out to hiiyaa, though, the guidelines will take some more thinking since there are so many communities out there now, specializing in so many things, that it's hard to come up with a definition for what this comm is for anymore.

I said no layout, just because I'm on a mac (although I use firefox) and certain kinds of layouts have a nasty habit of being utterly eaten. The one here has always worked fine on my mac, regardless of the browser I used. :\

Tags would definitely help keep everything organized and I'm all for a new layout because I'm using Safari and I can't browse through entries when I need to.

I'd personally recommend a simple layout, maybe something with a really nice header image and if we're feeling fancy an image map for links.
