For people who have been around since forever, please bear with me while I tell a little story!

From July 11th, 2005 to July 13th, 2007, I was one of the creators and maintainers for a_ra_shi. We started it back when arashi_on was deader than dead, and we were lucky to get even one post in this community on a good day. (Plus, it had an ugly default layout.) It was a small but cozy community where friends were made and people enjoyed themselves.

From July 16th, 2007 onwards, due to a difference in opinions between another creator and I, I became a maintainer here at arashi_on and eventually became the sole maintainer and owner. For many people, I was probably the only mod you ever knew about, if you even knew what the name of its mod was at all. Over the years, arashi_on ballooned in membership and now boast over 20,000 members (!).

Why am I waxing poetic all of a sudden? To cut a long story short, after seven years, I have come to the decision to resign as a maintainer for arashi_on by the end of August.

The reasons are entirely personal, and mostly has to do with the fact that I simply do not have the time to devote to modding anymore. I still love the group and treasure the friends I have made over the years... but as my schedule grew busier and busier, I came to realise that in order to do the best that I possibly can, something has to give.

I won't be quitting right away, so no worries about that! This is basically a heads up that I will be leaving, and to let you guys know what my plans will be over the next few months, which is as follows:

- I will be putting up an application post for anyone interested in modding arashi_on and leave it open from June 23rd to June 30th.
- July and August will be spent training whomever I end up picking (most likely two trainees). I'm going to be very hands on and strict with it as I want only the best for this community, so please be forwarned!
- I will say my final goodbyes on September 1st.

No matter how early or how late you were in becoming a fan, the Arashi fandom has seen more than its share of ups and downs, and you no doubt were part of at least one of them. Some of you watched as Arashi began their climb - then rocket - to superstardom; some of you joined precisely because they were everywhere; and still more of you are just joining now, lured in by the sparkles and rainbows and good-natured grins of five guys who genuinely seem to like one another.

Regardless of whether I'll be modding or not, I have confidence that arashi_on will continue to thrive all the same, just like the group itself. So let's continue to keep this community in order and enjoy our last few months together, okay? ♥

arashi_on is one of the first Arashi communities I joined when I created my account 6 years ago. It helps me a lot in my fangirl life XD. I remembered once time I even read the first posts in this community. It's really interesting, to see only 1 or 2 posts per week/month back then and now we have many new posts everyday.

I also understand your decision. We can't spend all our times for Arashi fandom, real life is really hard =.=

As long as you are still an Arashi fan then everything should be alright ^^ I have been Arashi fan for 7 years now and still going and proud of it ^^
But I'd be mad if your reason for quitting was because you lost interest of Arashi (which doesn't seem to be the case at all :p)

Oh no.

This is the third account I have, I forget the first one because it was ages ago and I only ever used it to lurk. I retired the other one just recently and now I am back with this. But through all the ups and downs and crisis in fandom, you were always there. Like a feature of the fandom. I know it sounds impersonal and silly but I never even considered that you might leave.

I am very sad and egoistically scared about what this will mean for fandom as a whole. Don't get me wrong, I support your decision to step back and I am glad you're devoting time to find a new moderator but I cannot but wonder what will happen. How things will turn out. Take it as a compliment to your awesome modding style and clear-headedness that, to me, you are one of the pillars of Arashi fandom on lj.

Aw, thank you. ♥ A couple of my friends said something very similar last night, and I scoffed at them at the time because I didn't actually think I would be missed all that much, since most of what I do goes on behind the scenes and I don't post too often (I hope). Though there's some sadness in seeing you have to give moderating up, seeing a turnover like this makes me think "What a structured society this fandom is!" And it makes me proud to be a member all over again.
