Cyzo is attacking Jun, so maybe there is a new project coming up for him. Hope so. I do believe poor Jun has been typecasted due to Hanadan, so no matter how well his acting is, they always think of him as Domyoji. Funny thing is that it is because he portrayed his role so well that people always think of him as Domyoji. Nobody can be the most popular forever, so it's true that he is not the most popular anymore but that doesn't mean that he is not popular either. Thanks for the update.

Lol Cyzo. I am much amused.

I actually do agree with a few things. Things like his popularity seems to have gone down a bit after Hana Yori Dango. I agree that Domyouji has had a huge impact and it is an image that is very hard to erase. I agree that to erase it, he'd probably need another really strong character to counter it, but probably not Domyouji. Maybe a strong hit manga/anime adaptation character.

I do not agree that he is bad at acting. When I watch his dramas, I have never once caught myself thinking, "This is Arashi's Matsujun. This is Matsumoto Jun and I can see him, so very much himself, in the drama." I tried, trust me. I believe he lives as his character at the moment as the drama is ongoing. Like with Domyouji, when he's on Arashi's shows, he's a bit more wilder, angrier. When he was Bito, he was milder. That sorta thing.

That his popularity has gone down, or fans have left him because he gets a few last places for Mannequin 5 SP, because he's not stylish or what, is rather laughable. I rather thought that he's an entertainingly embarrassing dork. And more human that way.

As a fan of a number of years, I am proud to say that I have seen quite a variety of Jun's faces and I have not left him. And I think he's grown and toned down a bit, and I like him more for that. All part of growing up ^_^

And I'm sure a lot of fans have not left him either. And even those who does not think of Jun as their number one, most of them would still love him, as an important part of Arashi, as all members are. :)

But yes, he's gotta have a strong role to smash the Domyouji shadow that has been tagging him all along these years.

Matsujun popularity goes down? To me it's more like the rest's popularity go up. He's still baiting fans to arashi, just that he need to do a more challenging drama, out of the shell character coz i think he can act :)

lol did Jun have new project coming on?
well i don't think Jun is losing popularity it just that the other member is gaining more attention now compare to before it more like he is the most popular followed by Sho and Nino..
but now Aiba and Ohno have catch up and all of them is very popular nowadays of course especially Sho with his new and never stop project...
and Ohno have really becoming more popular as actor especially since Kaibutsu-kun....
Aiba have always have Tensai Shimura which make him have more variety exposure than the others..
Nio is still very highly acclaimed actor..

Jun is still very popular...
and he is not good in Hyd only, his other past works is also great such as Gokusen, Kimi Wa Petto, Kindaichi, Tokyo Tower, Pikanchi etc he have lot f good and versatile role.
for me he is very good actor it just that after Hyd he keep getting pretty crappy drama and some people seem can't still to let go of his Doyouji image^^;
i do hope Jun would be getting more good project as actor because he is really good actor just right now his acting project don't give him that much justice or luck..
like Lucky 7 the drama is good but Jun character is poorly written and the focus seem more of Nitta character since very beginning and mostly on their chemistry while Jun character is not develop much....

(and Arashi come out due to HYD.. and they ssay it by themself that it's because of J..if not him who knowes what would happen(other JE group dreams of such hit..that would pull all group to be know), and Nino on some show said that he gets roles because he is from Arashi.., but now i don't think that it's a case..as all members of arashi have them 'own name' not like others 'xxx" group xxx person.just Ohno Satoshi, and others:)
and to get something based on magazing ranking..uhh we all know how magazine ranking or net raniking works:).. vote as many times as possible...so it's really randome result;P)

ugh cyzo..I believe matsujun belongs to the golden-era j-actors. He was the young actor to the likes of takki and yosuke kubozuka. He was a rising star in gokusen and exploded as domyouji. He's been in the spotlight longer than the other members. Its going to be hard for him to topple domyouji's persona. Kinda like how everytime I see tamaki hiroshi I'd just go chiaki-senpai! JE needs to give jun a comeback role.
