We want Arashi in the Philippines!

Japan Foundation, Manila asked which Japanese artist would we want to see LIVE at Manila on it's facebook page. Of course, we, Filipino Arashians want Arashi here in our country! So I just want to ask a little help from you, fellow Arashians. I don't mean to be negative, but I'm not even sure if that's possible, not this year, not next year. Maybe, as long as Arashi is too famous and busy, JA wouldn't even give a single glance to the Filipino fans. But I am always dreaming that Arashi would visit a Southeast Asian country like Singapore, where there are more fans. I'd definitely spend all money I have just to fly to that country. Just a dream... Anyway I still voted. LOL

I've taken that into consideration. :) I know that it's kinda impossible for them to hold a concert here but I'm still hoping. Who knows, maybe if Arashi got thousands of votes, Japan Foundation will do anything just to bring them here.

this has been a longstanding issue/request but kindly note that Universal Records actually asked Johnny's Entertainment for ARASHI last year, the company was met with a resounding 'No' and was offered Kis-My-Ft2 instead. Also, according to a JE manager who is a friend of a friend of a friend of mine says, JE refuses to release in the PH. u've been a fan for almost 7 yrs now and i never want to see them here..

It's sad to hear that. Maybe there's a valuable reason why JE doesn't want them to perform here. But I'm still open for the possibility that they'll hold a concert here. Korean and other foreign artists have performed so many times here, why not Arashi? Just my thoughts. ^_^

i don't know how to put it nicely because there's no way to do so but to many fans.. but we prefer that they don't become mainstream here..
Let's not compare them to kpop or other western artists as there will always be a stigma connected to anything and anyone 'Japanese'..try as we might, this is one of the many reasons why we prefer that arashi stay where they are-away from the PH.

There are many good arguments for and against this issue but i fervently believe that it all rests upon the hands of Kitagawa-dono.

I somewhat agree, I'm afraid that arashi might be compared to kpop or treated like the kpop here if they become mainstream~ but I'm all votes for their movies shown on the big screen here. ^^

JE refuses to release in the PH - Are you only talking about Arashi? I hope you are, because I'll begin to question why copies of Kisumai and NEWS singles and concert DVDs are being distributed by Universal Records and are now being sold in local record bars.

lolz maybe Johnny already predicted what might happen because of thorough investigation.. maybe they found out abt what happens to all the hypes here which you know are only fads and doesn't really last that long.. so I guess it is a good decision for them because if they did maybe Arashi's popularity might be damaged especially now that they are the top artists in Japan.. every decision is a tough one

True. I also think that it is also because they know how rampant piracy here is. I know that file sharing that fangirls do is considered same as piracy but at least we don't sell them to each other.

Arashi coming here might be something close to a miracle. But I think voting in this poll won't hurt. At least the people at Japan Foundation will become aware of the group's popularity in the Philippines. (Although because our org at university is closely connected to JF, I think they're pretty aware of that already.)

And it may not be this year, next year or even in the next five years. But there's still a possibility that Arashi could promote their activities here. There's also the possibility for individual members to pay a visit. Call me naive, but maybe it's not actually as far out as it seems.

Aiba already went here twice for TSD and he himself said, he doesn't want to go back...i don't take it against him as malabon zoo was too.. i can't put it nicely at all..so i'd rather not say..

its not naiveté per say but i understand that you're a hopeless romantic in the sense of hoping for the best out of things..

It's true that judging from that Malabon episode, it's clear Aiba is nowhere near interested in coming back here. And he probably also thinks people like Chavit are insane for keeping tigers as pets. But since it's not the members themselves who choose where they go on location for their shows, dramas, etc. then here's to hoping that they somehow end up working on something here (like maybe Enchou forcibly bringing back Aiba here for the third time). :)

much as i would KILL to have them go in the PH, i dont think filipinos are the kind of fans JE and arashi are used to...

artists and public figures in PH are treated like celebs of hollywood. we do not know the concept of personal space and if given the chance would molest these guys...im not in ANY way saying we behave badly, its just JE imposes so many rules that arent really accustomary here in PH (like no camera during private time, no raising of uchiwas higher than blah, blah , blah)...here , if ur a public figure , then the public owes you.

Arashi have a very, VERY good chance of going mainstream here but i dont want that either... i would just be content with them knowing that they have a LOT of fans here....

I agreed to most of you, sometimes I've been arguing with myself about them going mainstream here, I don't want it either, especially that KPOP is a big hit today in our country so it hurts me sometimes when they start comparing but of course, at least one concert won't hurt that much, so, just to fulfill thousands of filipino arashians dreams, right? Just once.

Wow. I never heard that Universal Records are trying to pursue Arashi before. I hope they reconsidered especially that NEWS and KIS-MY-FT2 was quite a success here although I won't blame them if there thinking about copyright claims.
