Arashi Dictionary - I ask for you help please~

Hello!

    I'm currently planning on doing a 'mini-project' of making an Arashi Dictionary. What the heck is an 'Arashi Dictionary'? This will be a compilation of certain words like Ohmiya SK, OTP, DoS etc. I thought that this would help fans understand more when reading blogs, talking to forums etc. I'm doing this project with some people .

    Please reply with any words that you think must be in the dictionary (and a short meaning if possible ^_^ thank you!) :) (Including those mentioned above). Or email it to me at boohaysaging@yahoo.com.

    Don't worry about the word being mentioned twice since I'll be compiling it :) And of course credits will be given to you.

[Edit: Since classes will be starting tom I'll be very busy and this might slow down the mini-project :( Anyway, I'll still try to do the best that I can :)  ]

umm... all their nick names used by them:
Fumi/Fumio, Sami, CHESUTOOO,

Popular/Generally used fan nick names:
The Hime, Bait-o/The Bait, Burger Hands, Air Muscles, Tony & James (Sho's biceps), Chipmunk (Sho), Hollywood, Aibaka... (I think this will go on & on...)

The meaning of their names (which I've posted in the comms b4 but can't find it nomore ^^;;;):
Ohno Satoshi= Vast Field of Intelligence/Wisdom
Matsumoto Jun= Pine Tree Fresh (??? not sure can't remember)
Sakurai Sho= Sakura Well Soaring (something like that)
Aiba Masaki= Age of Elegence (not sure...)
Ninomiya Kazunari= Two/Money Temple of Calmness (not sure about this too ^^;;;)

actually I'm doing a somewhat similar personal project as well... but i just don't have the time to do a lot ^^;;;

maybe more of the nicknames like aiba's "super idol" sho's keio boy oh and maybe shimuken should be included (the baby lion aiba named on the animal show he is on tensai! Shimura Doubutsuen)

ummmmmmmmmmmmmm what else is there...
OT3, seme, raibu, MC, the domes, AAA, fancam, uchiwa, dorama, CM, PV, sugoroku...
and all the combinations like sakuraiba, matsutoshi, etc

and i can't think of the word but it's like uraura, when they have the sleepovers and just lounge around...

and maybe short descriptions of REALLY relevent things that may be confused or not known well outside of japan. cause the topics could go on forever if you started listing doramas and stuff, but maybe some like:
A no Arashi, C no Arashi, D no Arashi, G no Arashi, Magomago Arashi (and arashi totsugeki kodomo no bangohan), Arashi no Shukudaikun, News Zero, Tensai Shimura Dobutsuen, JunStyle/Aiba Recomen/ShoBeat etc,
oh and maybe all those johnnys magazine names...

seme is the dominant one in a relationship, raibu is "live" as in concert, and sugoroku is a board game which is "aiba sugoroku" on those infamous episodes...

The 1st post has most of the words put together by dear Xiao **it need to be updated with the recent ones though :P if you look for the recent posts you'll find new words. Good luck with your project ^_^

Don't forget about "rainbow". I think that's not a term, but somehow it always related to yaoi-ness and rabu-rabu XDDDD

That's a pretty good idea... It took me quite some time to figure out a number of Arashi-related terms - especially their TV shows. I was so confused between Mago-Mago Arashi, Arashi no Shukudaikun, and the C/D/G no Arashi series at first.. @_@

I've no new terms to add at the moment. *points to comments above* Minna-san seems to have listed most of the common ones (I wanna know what's up with that "Chesuto" joke with Sho too... Still don't get it.. -.- )

Anyway, looking forward to when this 'dictionary' is up! :)

What you are doing is not really a "dictionary" but more of a slang/shorten way of writing long words booklet, a guide book in fact. Here is an example "Ohmiya is so cute." >> most fans, especially new ones might not know who is Ohmiya, they would just think it's one person, when in actuality its a fans way of short writing about Ohno and Nino's name together. <<

Sakurap: Segments in Arashi songs where their very own Sakurai Sho um. Raps. Or just Sho's rapping in general. XD And Junbait! MatsuJun, too. Throw in a few Japanese words that they use, like senpai and kouhai. (when referring to other JE boys) Ah, and Nino the Touching Man! YES.

Oh yes, rainbow. Popularly associated with the PV of their single "Kitto Daijoubu" Through this PV, my friends have come to know Arashi as a flaming rainbow boyband that consists of men who touch each other they're entirely comfortable with. A lot.

"You are my soul, soul~" That has to be in the dictionary. IT HAS TO. "For dream!" too.

Maybe you could include shortcuts for the names of their dramas and shows, like YamaTaro, HanaDan, Tensai, Shukudaikun, etc.

I would suggest maybe separating things such as "Ohmiya" from "OTP". Words like "ohmiya" "chesto" "aiba sugoroku" are Arashi-specific terms that you'll only see in Arashi fandom. Stuff like "OTP" and "rabu rabu" are generic and are used in several unrelated fandoms so maybe they would be better in a section like "Generic Terms You May See Used"?

Also, I've seen some people suggest nicknames for Arashi members that seem more like personal pet names rather than ones Arashi members or even fandom as a whole actually use. I would get pretty confused with that if I was new, maybe it would be better to limit nicknames to ones that are more "official" ? Just a suggestion :)

Oh~ I'll talk about that with my partners :) But I think we plan on not separating it since that would entail more work @_@ haha.

And about the nicknames, I'll look into that :) So far what I've added are the usual ones like Sami, Keio boy, Ridda etc. :D

Great idea! Sounds like a lot of fun :D My suggestions (this is going to be rambly *sweatdrops*):

- "AMNOS" = AibaMatsumotoNinomiyaOhnoSakurai
Appears in magazines every once in a while, but has also been used as a "pairing" in Arashi/Arashi fics (I was going to write Arashi!Orgy fics, but then that would have implied it's only used in NC17 fics XD).

- "CB/Clubbox" might also be good to explain since that's where a lot of the files come from. (and because tutorials are alwys good: http://www.d-addicts.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=142500#142500)

- "Sami" and the whole "drunken-Ohno-wants-a-middle-name"

- "Johnny's" & "Johnny's Entertainment/JE"

- "JStorm" = Arashi's own little label (and it's named after them!)

- "AAA/Arashi Around Asia" and all its different meanings: Taiwan/Korea concerts, JET Storm, Homecoming concerts, Dome concerts, AAA DVD, the photobook...

- "No Border" = Group within Johnny's consisting of one member from every band (pretty much) that meet every now and then to share info about their own group and have fun together. Members: sato atsuhiro, yamaguchi tatsuya, domyoto koichi, murakami shingo, yamashita tomohisa, ikuta toma, matsumoto jun (http://arashi.vox.com/library/post/no-border.html)

- "Game Nikki" = Nino's diary in which he writes daily (is in the form of a cellphone mass mail and can only be accessed if you live in Japan, is a member of the fan club and subscribe to it (and have a cellphone of course XD) or if a nice fan posts it on the internet. (I don' think being a member of the fan club means you automatically get Game Nikki too.)

- "PV" = Promotional Video

- "Arashi/嵐" = Storm in Japanese (Made up of the two kanjis 風 (Kaze = wind) and 山 (Yama = mountain))

- The members' different radio shows

- "Jankenpon" since it's used so often by Arashi

- "Secret Talks" = extra tracks on some of the CDs where Arashi members talk and dork out with each other for 20-40 minutes.

There is lots of words I still don't understand the meaning of.
I contribute with MMA (Mago Mago Arashi), AAA (Arashi Around Asia).Ehmm, can't think of any other at the moment ^^;;
