Well, to explain myself (sorry it turned out super long),

they won't be doing anything wrong if they just opened the restaurant and made sure that it won't be simply promoted as 'the Aiba Family's restaurant'. The reason the agency would disapprove if this rumor was true is because then they'd be stealing away the profits for a product that they created, namely 'Aiba Masaki', the idol, member of Arashi. Now since they are Aiba's parents people might say it might not matter, but if they're selling and gaining profits because of the influence of Aiba not-their-son-but-the-idol only, then it poses a problem, see? Especially let's say, if his younger brother owns a mail order website and is promoting it as 'site run by Aiba's younger brother' as a way to pitch for sales even if the goods on the website have nothing to do with Aiba or JE, then that'd be a problem, won't it? Fangirls who think that maybe Aiba will come and see the website and how much they bought his brother's goods might spend a good chunk of money, which will never get relayed to JE even though its getting its run through Aiba's image.

It's kind of like, let's say, what the reprint shops or paparazzi shops in harajuku are doing. I'm sure Johnny knows of them for sure, and obviously it's out of their control - and to some point they let it slide as a promotion gimmick - but if it gets out of hand, then they step in and take measures against it. So yes, since its a restaurant that's been there before Aiba entered JE and they are his family, surely it's fine if fangirls go there and give it business. But if Aiba's family starts making their own 'Aiba goods' and selling them in the restaurant as per an earlier rumor, it makes sense that it's not theirs to sell. That is why JE had a photo ban until recently, and now basically no 'real photo' of JE members on anything like on drama correlation charts or even cm flyers are there... because they could be reprinted and abused for profit. So think of Aiba's image as an economic product itself. If a restaurant, which serves chinese food and really has nothing to do with Aiba Masaki the idol that fangirls are yearning for, sells its products solely through that promotion route, then it'd anger JE. It also draws attention, such as this article, as sort of making the restaurant a 'lower level' and told that it's taking low tricks to sell.

so yes... there is no problem with another branch, and to a point fangirls wanting to go there cannot just be controlled or anything... and they are Aiba's parents after all and that's the truth of the matter so it piques fangirls' curiosities. But if a new branch opens up just so that it can profit off fangirls, i would say the concept is wrong. I suppose it's more of a moralistic issue? It's not pretty when parents take their son's popularity and use it as a way to fuel their own business instead of returning to foundation of creating good service.

... Am I making my point clear? I'm pretty bad with explanations and use too many words. All in all, I think opening up another chain is a bad idea, whether it's true or not, because well, if they do then it just sort of thrusts them in the 'greedy' light, especially with the 'enthusiastic' comment. Sure the tabloids are prob twisting it around but still, I'd stay safe than sorry. I'm just hoping they'd avoid the entire ordeal and just keep it to their happy Keikarou in Chiba, hence my original comment. =/

Haha well I certainly didn't expect my word vomit to be thrown back at me. I hope you're not offended or anything (as you seem to be), the reason for the length of the previous comment was not because I was feeling defensive or angry I just don't know how to be concise. =/

I know, they haven't promoted Keikarou as 'Aiba Masaki's family restaurant', but it's certainly become that, yes? And that's inevitable and really that's fine and expected. But if they did open another branch, then I think it will just automatically be labelled as that from the start is all. And that brews ill and gives tabloids more things to poke at Aiba+his family for.

I haven't said anything I said about what their family might or might not be doing is true! Please try to understand. Everything I said about the supposed mail order site is on a subjunctive point of view. Nor do I know what fangirls are doing. All my long explanation was a supposition to explain why I think it's just trouble if there was a new branch because it can be seen in such light that I've laid out.

Yes, of course I'm assuming, because I'm basing my explanations on what the tabloids said and I've written all that under the premise that we're going to take what they're saying as true in order to discuss the issue in the first place, so that I can explain why it would be troublesome with a new branch. I'm not saying all the things you accuse me of stating; that fangirls go to Keikarou only for a chance to see Aiba, his brother's website, the restaurant is already trying to milk his popularity. I'm not. But the article is letting that train of thought go on with their article. Hence I responded, saying that perhaps before this gets out of control, I hope Aiba would do something about it, putting the issue out of reach for tabloids in the future.

I wasn't implying that whatever Keikarou at the moment is doing is wrong (because well, I've never been there, so I wouldn't know!) You keep telling me to prove myself and highlighting my 'ifs' but that's just it. I'm talking hypothetically as I would with any tabloid article. In the end I don't think we're actually disagreeing...? Most of your reply seems to agree with my interpretation of the issue.

okay i have read your long reply above but still gonna say this anyway :P

seriously why should Aiba SCOLD his family just because tabloid say this and that without any real proof just to bring down Aiba *_*
from what i know Aiba really love and respect his family to even think of SCOLDING them..he is still their son so for you to told him to scold his own family just sound really rude..
hopefully you choose better choice of word than sound childish even if you have good reason to think that :P

beside it is his family business even before he enter JE..
if they want to make their business bigger that it is their own decision and freedom if the RUMOR is TRUE :P
yeah it is wrong to sell his pics or item in the shop if it is true since i never went to the shop myself to judge..
but still they are having business and it is not weird to have another branch if they want to..
if JE have trouble with that they should settle among themselves since they are all adult without outside party trying to stir unnecessary problem :P
there is no need for tabloid and fans to get busybody with other people private matters :P

and it is not in our place as fans to act like we know everything and telling the idol what they should do in their private life especially it is about their family and it is based on certain tabloid news that always aim to make trouble :P

perhaps your connotation of 'scold' is stronger than mine. When I think 'scold', I don't imagine somebody yelling his/her head off and someone, I think of a parent telling their child to 'stop something', maybe with a slap in their hand or so. I didn't mean Aiba should go and yell at his family and flip a table or something. But I didn't think just him 'saying to his family' was the right word and Aiba probably has discussed this with his family before, so I was implying a more direct tell-off from Aiba seemed necessary at this point.

I think it's just idiosyncrasies in semantics. And it's not like I disagree with you. If you did read my word vomit up there, I do say Aiba's restaurant has been there before he got into JE after all. JE and Aiba's family should just talk this through as they are both businesses and businesses negotiate things all the time.

Did I seem like I knew everything about Aiba's family and what goes on behind the scenes? I hope not, cuz obviously I don't. All my original comment was, 'wow I hope they don't make another branch because it'll be a big headache, hopefully Aiba will do something about it soon' meaning.

Sometimes I think people brush off tabloids too quickly. Sure usually it's full of crap but sometimes it raises some issues more bluntly than other media. Not saying its true or anything. I didn't mean for my offhand comment to generate such responses either, I was simply showing my own worries and hoping that they won't make another chain if they ever considered it. dont people like to watch them? imho, if you want to see arashi at their best : is either see them at concert or watch their variety show...

Tv ratings aren't something to depend so much on nowadays since shows can be recorded or found on internet. Still i feel you,especially when it comes to Himitsu,i don't think that show can go on for long as it is.Since it's a talk show essentially it depends a lot on the guests and if they are boring even fans won't really feel like watching it.Looks like Japanese fans are complaining that they aren't giving Arashi better shows and i also read some comments from international fans saying that they just watch once in a while,when the guest looks interesting....even in the special,apart from the fact that they were all there,there wasn't anything "special" about it...about Shiyagare and VS,they have ups and downs but looks like they can still work,especially VS.Shiyagare have to work on its specials since they often fail and i also often find them really boring.
Maybe fans think that concerts are something more special,where they can have fan alongside the boys^^

This is only what i think, i don't really get tv ,since the episodes that i find really funny often get low ratings and the ones i don't like get high ratings.I'm happy that Arashi has so many shows but i would like producers to not be sloppy with them...
