An index... again?
Mar. 3rd, 2015 06:41 pmHello, my name is Andréa and I've been a fan of Arashi's since about a little while now. Over the years I've been on LJ, I have seen and joined many, many Arashi-related communities/journals, to the point that I can't even remember some of their names.
I've had the idea for a long time now to create some kind of an Arashi index. Not about the videos already subbed (
we_make_storm,
arashic_index and kazunari are already pretty amazing for that), but more about all those Arashi-related communities/journals. I would like to make a list of all the fansubs created until this day, to state if they are still active and if their membership is open or not, for example. But also, a list about all the fanworks, fanfictions, scans, raw, etc., communities. It would kind of look like
arashi_on's sticky post, but in a much more detailed way.
I realize this is something possibly complicated to do. Considering the HUGE number of communities/journals which principal interest is Arashi, it might take a while. Plus, I'm aware that some communities do not want their name to be shared publicly. Also, my next question would be, obviously: is this index really necessary? Would it help anyone? I think I just want to do it because I'm a statistics/organization freak; I like neat categorisation as it makes things easier for me to read as I compile. But yeah, I'll be happy if it has an actual purpose, other than writing it for myself.
This is what I have thought of so far and this is open for discussion. Any feedback is welcome. (●^U^●)

UPDATE (4TH-MAR-2015):
Since a lot of the comments I've received in this post are similar, rather than answering each of them separately, I'll just write what I have in mind here. First of all, thank you so much for the feedback. This is much more than expected.
When I decided to share this idea of creating an index, I really had the very best of intentions. As I told you before, I've been in the fandom for a little while; and even now, it never crossed my mind to break the rules of any community/journal. I wouldn't even dare doing it. This is why I can't understand those who do it on purpose. I realize it sounds pretty naive though. Fandom isn't always a happy place, unfortunately.
The fact that this index would mention fansubs' name has become a bone of contention. I'm completely aware that some of them do not want their name to be shared publicly, and I was ready to respect that. But using acronyms or simply not mentioning them would also be against the goal of this index, someone said, and I agree.
This is why... I'm stuck. This index was meant to help newcomers in fandom to discover Arashi through LJ, but I've never thought it would grow to such an extent. For this reason, I'm glad I asked everyone about this before doing anything.
Another future for this index?raatkerani suggested something different and I must say that I LOVE the idea. So much that I can't wait to start working on it. lol Her idea would be to create a detailed timeline of Arashi, including every episode of their shows, their CD/DVD, dramas, movies, etc. I can already see the huge amount of work and time it would take, but I can also see how helpful it could be. Eventually, the communities/journals who allow their works to be public could be linked in that index. I don't know if this project will come to life or not, but if so, I'd like everyone to be involved in it. I'm still not giving up on making a list of resources and links, but once again, I'd like to discuss with everyone about what should be in it and what should not.
