How to become an audience member at variety shows?

Hi!
I'm going to Japan this late Nov/Dec for three weeks but I was a bit too late in trying to join their fanclub to ballot for a ticket for the concerts they're holding during that time period. So I thought about whether I would be able to see Arashi in person in a different kind of way.

So, this is a question about how do I go about becoming an audience member at their variety show?
1. Is it through balloting?
2. And if so, is the application process similar to balloting for concerts?
3. How much earlier than the filming does the balloting/application process take place?

Sorry if this question has been asked a lot, I tried googling it but I couldn't find a whole lot of information about it, mainly only results about balloting for concerts.

((Also! Since I wasn't able to grab a ticket, I was contemplating whether I should try my hand at begging for a ticket the day-of. Anybody have any recent information about the success rate of begging? Any tips? Should I just not try at all?))
