Actually just (me) sadness. Last week i checked on ORICON for Arashi and their ONE cd and saw that they were number one with over 120,000 japanese cd's sold. I was so happy. And now this week, i find that they have dropped down to number 17 for the week! And on top of that i hear that they only sold about 15 thousand cd's.

I love them so much and i'm shocked to see them drop so suddenly in sales so soon. I want them to have a steady climb down and fight with all the big people up top for at least another week or two.. but at this rate they'll be gone from the weekly charts next week. They've been already off the daily charts on ORICON.. sniffle.

I liked this album a lot and already have the limited from japan, but it just makes me sad that i wont see them up on the charts for too long now.

Please stay on the charts a little longer ARASHI!

"Hey now, I don't want to give up. This is only the beginning."

::Squints goes and gets ONE (JAPAN regular edition) album from HMV...::

Unfortunately, that is the usual trend of ALL JE artists. Most of teh groups get the #1 spot on the release day, or week, and then they fall from the charts quickly.

Basically the #1 spot on the oricon chart jumps from JE artist to Hamasaki Ayumi, to Orange Range, to Mr. children / Southern Allstar /Glay / B'z (i.e. one of the long-time big bands), and occasionally a hip hop group such as Ketsumeishi. Also you have to remember that the CD market in Japan is very much singles oriented as opposed to album oriented. (Where as in the US, or many other countries you usually never buy singles but you buy albums.)

So, in conclusion, don't get too down about it. ^_^;;

yeah, i have to agree. it's very rare for any album to last several weeks on the japanese market because you have to remember the sheer amount of artists for the limited amount of consumers in japan.

and as much as i hate to admit it, they're JE, which rarely has staying power on the charts because JE bands tend to have a loyal fan base that buys the cds as soon as it comes out with very little casual fans. the casual fans buy the singles, hence the staying power of sakura sake.

in addition, one was more geared to the fans because of the solos and such.

I'm not surprised. Like the person above me said, it's typical of JE artists and getting number one just once is good. Plus popularity isn't just what's on that charts. ^_~
