Just asking...
Nov. 19th, 2008 01:37 pmHi everyone,
I'd just like to ask if anyone, like me, was frantically searching for Arashi videos and when you finally find the download link for it, you realise that it's an MU or DivShare link (or some other link to a website that you can't download from for certain reasons.) and you end up back at square one beacuse the site won't let you download the file?
MU used to totally hate me (and still does now, most times), I can't download from DivShare cause of where I live... and ZShare must be biased against me too. (does anyone else face these problems?)
Because recently, I finally found the T!SD clips I was looking for, and after a bit of a wrangle with MU, manged to get my hands on a few.
Thus, because it's really quite difficult to find those files and all...they are quite old, I was wondering if anyone would like me to reupload the files to MediaFire (which commonly works though it can get cranky, but it's difficult to please everyone, ne?).
I guess this doesn't apply only to those T!SD files, so if anyone has files that they want to download but can't and would like them reuploaded (on MF, for now), I wouldn't mind doing that.
On a side note, I'm not sure if I'd need to the approval of the original uploaders to reupload the files...so yeah.
EDIT: I've sent a message to Becky, the uploader of the 2004-2006 T!SD files. If there are any other files that people want, I'll go off to ask the original uploaders as well. And just to clarify, most of the videos are unsubbed. I'll start uploading only after she replies.
EDIT EDIT: She's replied and I've got the A-OKAY to reupload. So yash, will post when I've upped them.
So if anyone wants me to reupload the files, I won't mind (drop me a comment or anything here or @
berniechan ).

Date: 2008-11-19 06:55 am (UTC)I'm not sure, but you MIGHT need the original uploaders approval? I dont think you're doin any harm tho...
I've been doin OK with both.. but MF works much faster to me.. just it kinda bothers me to have to download a lot of parts.. so sometimes I use MU :)
thank you bernie-chan :D

Date: 2008-11-19 08:28 am (UTC)That way you won't get into trouble with people for distributing their files unasked. Reuploading shouldn't generally be a problem with most unsubbed files, I think, since most people could also get these files from clubbox; but it might get more difficult when it's something a person ripped themselves and it will definitely get more difficult when it's subbed things that you want to reupload, so I think it's better to ask first. Plus, it's the polite thing to do. ;P

Date: 2008-11-19 06:20 pm (UTC)The problem is all of these free uploader sites have their problems - the are free, afterall. All of them work differently depending on what country you live in, what type of computer you use, what sort of firewall/internet security you have, what download manager if any you prefer, and what ISP you use. I've seen several people say MF is faster in this thread, but for me both have always been about the same. It really depends on the person.
I personaly would never ask an uploader to re-upload something to a different server unless it was just one small file or extremely rare. It takes a lot of time to upload shows, and you can never please everyone with free downloading services, so it comes off as really rude and demanding to ask someone to take that same amount of time all over again. Especially with MF - MU allows you to upload bigger files at one time, and with MF you have to break the file into lots of tiny pieces which takes even more time. If you want to offer to reupload FOR the person, it's always good to get permission but I'm sure most people would be happy to allow that.
