[MOD] arashi_on Layout Contest

Since the chances of me making a new layout for this community are pretty much slim to none, I will be holding a layout contest after all for two different layouts-- one for the months of December and January only, and one for February onwards. The winners will be able to pick from the sets of prizes I've provided in this post, and of course be credited for their work on the community.

Entries will be accepted from 12/09/2008 to 12/18/2008 at 11:59 PM EST. Please read through this entry carefully before submitting, and good luck! ♥


- RULES -

- All layouts must be submitted to this post only; all comments are screened.
- You can only submit a maximum of two layouts: one for the birthday layout, one for general.
- If you are submitting two layouts (whether at the same time or separately), please fill out the entry form twice.
- The birthday layout must feature both Aiba Masaki and Sakurai Sho only, while the general layout must feature all five members of Arashi.
- All layouts must meet all the requirements listed below, with the entry form completed in full.
- If the layout does not adhere to all of the rules mentioned above, it will be automatically voided.
- In order to keep this as fair as possible, please do not show your layout to other members of the community or inform them which is yours.


- LAYOUT REQUIREMENTS -

Style. S2 styles only, preferably Smooth Sailing or a similar theme where a full list of options (read/comment/edit/tag/etc.) is displayed for every post. Must work for basic account.
Header. Must state "arashi_on" and the subheading "The original Arashi LJ community" somewhere on it.
Sidebar. Must include a tags list (not cloud!), a links section, and at least one free text area.
Entries. Must include a subject line and date, as well as userpics displayed on every post.
Extras. Though not required, a bonus prize will be awarded if you also make a new default userpic and profile header for the community.


- ENTRY FORM -

Name: (the name you wish to be displayed on the community)

Layout style: (eg. Smooth Sailing)
Layout CSS credit: (if you're using someone else's base codes)
Preview URL: (note: please use either a test journal or an external site to host your CSS; make at least one post on this journal/page, showing what bold, italics, links and so forth look like, and tag the post)
Full-sized preview image: (URL only; no size restriction)
Thumbnail of preview image: (URL only; no more than 350 px in width)
Link to CSS text file: (preferred hosts: Mediafire, Box.net)


- PRIZES -

There are six sets available for the winners to pick and choose from; each winner is allowed to pick one set only (unless, of course, both layouts were created by the same person, in which case they may choose two).

Set #1: Includes three magazine pin-ups featuring Sho (2003), Nino/Yamapi (2003), Jun (2005)
Set #2: Includes five official chirashi (flyers) for Pika**nchi: Life is hard dakara happy, Arashigoto, Kakushi Toride no San Akunin: The Last Princess (two versions), Hana Yori Dango Final
Set #3: Includes three official shop photos (one from 2001, two from 2008)
Set #4: Includes three official shop photos (one from 2001, two from 2008)
Set #5: Includes official Kansha Kangeki Ame Arashi postcard + postcard holder, official Pika**nchi Double postcard, stickers from Pika**nchi: Life is hard dakara happy DVD
Set #6: Includes five unofficial bromide cards, bonus 5th anniversary booklet from Duet (1 | 2), two AU KDDI catalogue covers

I have a quick question: are you asking that submissions be for all three months mentioned - in which case three layouts would be submitted - or can we choose one of the three to make a layout for? As in, I'm thinking about making a general layout that could be used from February onward, but hadn't even considered making a layout for either December or January. Is that still alright?

And one other question: if I were to make an icon, would you rather it says "Arashi" (as with the current community icon) or instead have it say "arashi_on"?

No no, there's a maximum of two layouts that can be submitted by any one person if they so choose-- one 'birthday' one for Sho and Aiba which would encompass both December and January, and one general one to be used afterwards. It's up to people whether they want to make layouts for one or both of them, if at all.

...I hope that made sense. XD As for the text, probably Arashi would be fine, though I'm not too picky about the text, really, as long as it's got their name in there somewhere.

Ah, I have another question. >_<

I made two different headers from the same image to be used with the layout I made. Would it be possible for me to submit both? I only ask because I'm not sure that the one I'm planning to submit would follow the rules listed above - the header crops out the members' heads and has only their legs and feet. The other header, on the other hand, shows the members' faces. I like the feet one with the layout I made, but I wanted to know if it would be considered void since it doesn't have their faces. (Man, I hope this question made sense.)

Hmm... I'm afraid you would only be allowed to submit one header. :/ But it's fine to submit something without their faces as long as all five of them are in the header, so if you do like that one more, then by all means go for it!

I would actually like it to not be Flexible Squares if at all possible, because I want a full list of options listed for every entry rather than just read/comment. :/ Sorry!

Do we have to make include the codes for profile layout too? I usually make profile header matched with the theme of the profile layout (lke the colors, the image width, etc)

And is it okay to submit the userpic and profile header later, after I submit the layout codes? Thanks :)

For the profile, it's really up to you-- if you want to use other profile layout codes, I would prefer it to have two columns like our current one to display the rules more easily. If you can't find any, you can simply make the header and I'll change the colour codes accordingly to match with the new banner.

As for your second question, as long as you don't take too long after submitting the codes, I don't see why not. Hope that helps!
