Today's Tokyo forecast: 13℃/ 8℃/ 20% victim areas have mid-winter weather until Friday

さんの絵文字 Thank you always your cheering comment this makes me really strong. 5th day after earthquake, last night we had big aftershock M.6.0 around Shizuoka area (different area from 1st earthquake, South west side of Tokyo) it seems not damaged a lot at least as earthquake point was shallow there’s no Tsunami. as it was quite big. went to bed in cloth.  valuable, shoes, coat next to my bed. but luckily nothing happened. Tokyo is safe, radiation level in Tokyo is row. Yesterday good news was a guy rescued after 4 days! however disaster area is much colder than Tokyo. bad news is, still critical is nuclear plant. I really worry about this one. hope this solve soon. but blackout as this was 2nd days, people get used too. however less public transportation than usual, people learns on 2nd day so no panic like first day. In Tokyo this life must be continued 6 weeks. This is a bid hard. I think this is time to appreciate your life. As Arashi says “believing chain of small steps must get big one.”
I believe all the messages I got are for all for people in Japan. so let’s stay strong, and smile.
According Sho-kun at Zero, what victims need now is monetary donation. I appreciate your donation a lot.

さんの絵文字 all soul rest in peace.

Hello Arashi community!
I am in dire need of some help. Here is the background story first: I am a senior this year and at my school we get the opportunity for independent study for a month. So because I am an Arashi fan and they introduced me to japanese culture and inspired me to learn more and actually travel to japan. I was going to participate in a camp where I would teach English and learn about the culture but for obvious reasons, my trip was canceled. Not only am I very sad and constantly thinking and praying for the people of japan, but i am now in trouble with my independent study. My independent study is one of the things that allows me to graduate.
This is where you come in. My main focus for independent study was how do Japanese youth uphold tradition or how do they disregard it? And how does westernization distroy culture?
I am trying to find something to do in the USA or in a safe place that will still steer me in that direction. I have contacted different japanese culture centers and neither offered anything I am looking for and one didn't even have a way I could take Japanese lessons. I would really like to find a way to immerse myself in Japanese culture rather than take classes with nonjapanese people. I am really pressed for time since I was supposed to leave tomorrow for japan and I need to find an alternative by next week. So, if any of you have any ideas or suggestions, please let me know.
Thank you all for your help. I am very impressed with the power of Arashi fans and I am very grateful for the fans and ofcourse the band that brings us all together, Arashi.
Thanks,
Tessa

I'm sure you're all anxious to know what the current amount is, and whether or not we were able to break $10,000 after all. Well...

We're at $13,832.33!!

I swear you guys are just hellbent on breaking the poor thermometer widget every time I set it higher. ♥♥♥

On with some things I wanted to let you guys know:

The [livejournal.com profile] arashi_on fundraiser is no longer limited to just Arashi fandom! We're trying to show solidarity and unity here, and what better way to do that than emulate the company our groups belong to and make it an inter-fandom effort? So far we've had KinKi Kids and Kanjani8 fans join in, but if you're in other fandoms and would like to participate too, feel free to ask the respective mods in charge and see if they would like to take part! The doors are wide open for anyone and everyone to contribute and make this awesome cause grow even bigger and better with every passing day. :)

► In case you haven't noticed yet, the list in the main fundraiser post had gotten so long that it has now been split up and moved to two external entries, one predominantly for Arashi fandom (since the fundraiser did originate here, and most of the offers so far are Arashi-related!), and one for other groups. I've designated [livejournal.com profile] lullabyeforyou to be the one updating the two lists, so if you have an questions or problems regarding edits that need to be made to your thread in the list, please go to her because I cannot edit those posts anymore!

► A comprehensive FAQ is currently in the works and hopefully will be posted up either tonight or tomorrow night for anyone who has any questions regarding the fundraiser, or would simply just like to get a better picture of what we're doing. No question is too stupid, but we've gotten many similar or identical questions so far and thought it would be best to just set up a formal FAQ for anyone to refer to first before PMing and commenting, which may be missed!

► Speaking of missed: like before, if you've already made a payment and I have yet to inform the seller even though a whole day (that is, 24 hours) has passed, please PM me and let me know! I know I'm prone to making mistakes (as the many people who have PMed me can attest to!), and it can get really confusing with all the donations coming in for different reasons, so it can be very possible that your transaction went through but I accidentally missed it. :(

► Please also PM me if you want to just confirm that a donation or payment has gone through successfully! It's very easy for me to overlook comments since I don't keep up with them as diligently, what with most of them being auctions/sales-related, so PM is your best option! Alternatively, you can also email me at acidae@livejournal.com, or arashi.fundraising@gmail.com. :)

Hopefully I haven't missed anything important I needed to say besides the fact that you're all doing a tremendously amazing job, and thank you so much for all your efforts and donations! ♥

This is the FAQ compiled for Fundraising for Japan--Fandom-style. The following are some of the most common questions we have come across over the past few days since starting this fundraiser, and I sincerely hope this will be of help to some, if not many of you!

IMPORTANT: As of March 27th, drastic changes have been made to the FAQ. Please PM me if you have any questions that do not appear below. In addition, changes have been made to important questions from the Technical/Legal section. Please refer here for more information.

DONATION QUESTIONS

These are questions regarding the donating process itself, as well as general questions about the fundraiser.

What is this fundraiser for? )
How do I donate? )
Is there a minimum amount I have to donate? )
Can I donate without buying anything? )
How do I know what the current total is? )
Why does it still say 'Fundraising for Japan-- Arashi-style' in the donation button even though you say it's inter-fandom now? )
How long will this fundraiser last? )

FUNDRAISER/GARAGE SALE QUESTIONS

These are questions about the actual fundraising activity (ie. selling and buying of fan services) and the garage sale.

I paid for something but there's no notification to the seller yet! What should I do? )
I made a mistake on my offers comment. What should I do? )
Can I pay for multiple items at once or do I need to submit separate donations for each item? )
Are fans of other Johnny's groups allowed? )
Why are the lists separated between Arashi and non-Arashi? )
How often are the masterlists updated? )

TECHNICAL/LEGAL QUESTIONS

I'd like to preface this section by saying that I'm not a law student, and I'm not a trained law professional either. Most of these answers are compiled by [livejournal.com profile] zomboid and I after doing research and asking for opinions from her friends who are knowledgeable in these matters (as in real lawyers, university professors, and people who work for established NPOs).

[livejournal.com profile] zomboid has kindly offered to field questions about this section of the FAQ for me, so please send her a PM with any questions or concerns!

Which organizations are you guys intending to donate to? )
Can I suggest a NPO to donate to? )
Why don't we donate to the Japanese NPOs directly? )
Why only monetary donations? )
Why are you collecting money in USD and not yen? )
Do you or anyone else get tax credit for this? )
Can I get tax credit for this? )
Can I contact my local press about this fundraiser? )

If you have any other questions concerning the fundraiser that has not already been answered, please feel free to PM me or leave a comment below! I'll try to answer the questions to the best of my abilities and in a timely fashion. Again, we would like to thank you for your kind generosity towards this fundraiser. It has quite honestly grown exponentially and far surpassed any of our original expectations thanks to you all. You guys are absolutely amazing!
